Chapter 3 #2
She grins at me. “Although I wouldn’t mind exploring your body if you’re interested sometime. Privately, if you catch my drift.”
Motherfucking hell. It’s official. My panties could compete with a water park slide right about now.
Also, hell yeah! I was totally right. This sexy alien babe and I are vibing!
Felix covers his eyes. “Gah! Will you two stop flirting in front of me? It’s weirding me out.”
Luna winks at me and I’m about ready to spontaneously combust. No one has turned me on this much and this fast in… maybe ever.
I came out as a lesbian years ago. Do I now need to come out as a tentacled-alien-loving lesbian? Is that even a thing?
I could totally make that a thing. Fuck yeah.
Also, why should Felix be having all the queer alien fun right now while I’m stuck here living my boring, exhausting life on Earth.
I perk up when I recall what Luna said earlier. “You don’t have a medical officer on the ship?”
Oh, the possibilities…
“Gemsy,” Felix warns in that older brother tone he’s got down pat.
I ignore him, keeping my eyes focused on Luna. “I just so happen to be an MD.”
Luna’s tentacles undulate around her, and I have to fight back a moan. My libido is already compiling a list of things those fascinating appendages could do if Luna and I were alone together.
“You don’t say?” Luna drawls.
“Nope. Gemma, you’re staying out of this,” Felix declares.
As if he’s ever been able to tell me what to do. Puh-lease!
I keep my gaze trained on Luna and lower my voice. “I hope I’ll get to thank you in person for taking care of my brother when you bring him back to Earth.”
I better get to meet you, Ms. Alien Hotness, otherwise I might lose my freaking mind.
“Oh, I’ll make sure of it,” Luna promises. “We’ll give you our desert landing coordinates to come and meet us. After all, he’ll need you to pick him up anyway.”
Actually, I think he and I might have to do a switcheroo once he returns so I can go on my very own intergalactic adventure with a certain green alien…
“Perfect!” I tell Luna, then turn to Felix with a mock scowl. “I suppose I’ll be spending Christmas all alone.”
He has the good grace to look guilty.
It’ll be the first Christmas we’ve spent apart. Ever since our grandparents died, it’s been me and him—the queer siblings superduo.
Felix bites his lip and worry flits over his face. “Sorry, Gemsy. I’ll miss you, kiddo.”
Well, fuck. There’s no way I’m going to ruin his once-in-a-lifetime adventure here with a sisterly guilt trip. Maybe this whole experience will help him figure out what it is he wants going forward if it’s not running his own vet clinic.
I cross my arms over my chest and am thrilled when I notice Luna’s eyes follow my movements.
“You do know I’m an adult now and have been for a long time, right?”
“You’ll always be my kid sister.”
“And you’ll always be my annoying older brother.”
The pink guy clears his throat. “I’m sorry we have taken your brother away from you during this most wonderful of holiday seasons, but we will return him to you safely. Right now, we’re on course to visit several planets to experience their cultures.”
Lucky bastard. That sounds so much more amazing than the monotonous urgent care shifts I have coming up.
“It’s a shame you weren’t out in the desert with your brother when he discovered us. We could have brought you along as well,” Luna adds.
No fucking kidding.
“Over my dead body,” Felix growls.
But all I see is Luna, and I can’t help but kick myself for not following Felix on his little expedition.
However, I’m all about making the most of the opportunities ahead—like when Luna and her pals make a return trip to Earth. I’ve always been a planner, and I intend to use that to my advantage.
“For now, I’ll just have to look forward to meeting you in a few weeks,” I say with conviction.
Luna grins. “It’s a date.”
Swoon! I suspect a private session with my Hitachi Magic Wand is going to be necessary after this little convo ends.
The robot in the background appears again and does a twirl accompanied by several beeps. “You had me at hello.”
I try not to laugh. “Aww! Your robot is so cute.” These aliens are kind of a riot.
Luna beams at me with evident pride. “He’s my droid. I programmed him myself.”
I want to ask her all about that and more but then the golden-hued guy breaks the spell.
“If I may interrupt again, Gemma, I’m Najar and in charge of security on the ship.
Felix has sworn an oath to keep our existence a secret.
He has also promised that you will keep what you have learned to yourself.
” His expression turns steely. “Failure to stay quiet will result in having your memories wiped.”
Okay, so my initial read on him was spot on. He’s the one I have to watch out for. Of course my foolish brother would have an instacrush on the most dangerous alien in the group! Felix, Felix, Felix.
To my surprise though, Luna reaches over and smacks Najar upside the head with one of her tentacles.
“Way to ruin the mood, Naj. Geez. Catch a clue.” She turns back to me with an apologetic smile.
“Naj is a bit of a stick-in-the-mud and not the greatest at being tactful. But he’s right, this is a serious situation.
We do need you and your brother to keep our existence a secret, or it could lead to some undesirable consequences for all of us. ”
Najar doesn’t retaliate and simply glowers at me.
Heh. So, Luna is clearly the stealth leader of this group and knows how to keep them all in line. Talk about hawt!
Focus, Gemma.
I blink and tune back into the conversation. “That makes a lot of sense,” I tell Najar. “I’ll do whatever I have to in order to get my brother back safely. You can count on me. In the meantime, I hope you’ll treat him right. He’s the only family I have left and vice versa.”
I bite my lip, surprise tears stinging my eyes as I study my brother. “Will you at least check in with me periodically to let me know you’re okay?”
Otherwise, I’ll be a fucking wreck. He’ll be so far away, and I’ll have no way to reach him. The thought is terrifying and almost paralyzing.
The pink guy—I still don’t know his name—taps his chin with the tip of one of his tentacles.
“Since the distance from some regions to Earth will make video transmissions difficult, we may not be able to chat like this as frequently as you might like. However, Felix should be able to relay written messages to you.”
I let out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding in a rush of relief. “Okay, that makes me feel a bit better. But this is all a lot to process.”
Way too fucking much, in fact.
“I know,” Felix whispers. “Everything will be all right.”
I know my brother, and I can tell from the look on his face that he wants this—and I need to trust him to make his own decisions about his life. Even if they end up taking him in a different direction from me.
“It better,” I declare, leveling him with a fierce glare. “Otherwise, I’ll have to hunt down those aliens of yours and kick some serious ass.”
Luna whispers something to Felix that I can’t hear.
I sniff back tears and give him a reassuring smile. “I love you, bro. Be safe.”
Relief and gratitude wash over his face.
“Love you too, Gemsy. Talk soon.”
Then the call ends, and my phone screen goes black.
I toss it aside and flop back down on my bed, where I’d been asleep until Felix called.
Worry for my brother is front and center in my mind. He’s basically trusting a group of strangers, extraterrestrial strangers no less, to keep him safe and bring him back in one piece after their travels together are over.
I groan and wrap my arms around a pillow. No doubt my brother’s fascination with all creatures strange and unique—that’s the exotic animal vet in him—played a big part in his decision. He probably couldn’t help himself.
Not that I blame him. Those aliens are seriously… amazing. Especially Luna.
Felix has always been a bit of a sci-fi nerd who’s convinced that aliens are real, and he’s become more passionate about it ever since his favorite online writer claimed he’d had an actual close encounter of the third kind. Hence his scouting missions in the desert.
I’d thought this fixation was more about escaping reality and trying to figure out what he wants to do next with his life.
When he had said the owners of the clinic where he works offered to sell him the business when they retire, I thought Felix would jump on that right away.
Instead, he told me he’s searching for something…
more. Looks like he might have found it.
Fuck, can I relate.
Like Felix, the idea of running away to outer space sounds really damn good to me right about now.
My mind flashes back to lovely Luna. A hot and heavy holiday with her would be heavenly.
She’s fascinating, with her cutesy pigtails, sassy personality, and sporty physique—all things that make me sit up and take notice.
I can imagine how hot she looks while fixing an engine.
Women working with tools has always been sexy to me, and knowing she’s the ship’s mechanic adds exponentially to her allure.
Luna’s kind of a perfect package and even after the short conversation we had, I’m intrigued and want more.
A lot more.
My brain conjures up an image of her, sweaty and working on an alien ship engine. The accompanying throb between my legs makes me moan. Fuck, she can fine-tune my engine any day.
I reach into my bedside table and pull out my trusty Hitachi Magic Wand. It’ll have to do until I can meet Luna in person.
Because I am bound and determined to find out what she and her tentacles can do—one way or another.
