Epilogue

Jaq woke the morning of her wedding to find a sunny sky and warm weather promising a lovely day. Stretching, feeling pampered in her luxurious room, she swung her head to take another look at the gorgeous white gown hanging over the back of the closet door.

Closing her eyes, she remembered the day her mother, Gigi, and Maisie accompanied her to the bridal store and helped her pick out the dress of her dreams. The sleeveless white beauty was everything she’d could imagine wearing for this special occasion.

In fact, the moment she’d seen it in the dressing room, she’d prayed it would fit her and fit her it did. Perfectly.

When she’d stepped up on the stage in front of her family, she’d known by the gasps they loved the dress as much as she did. Maisie, who had promised she’d tell the truth if she really liked a dress or not, crowed with delight. “It’s the one, Jaq. I wove it. We need this one.”

Turning to the three-way mirror, she saw where the pure white silk had been gathered cleverly across the chest, past her tiny waist, down to her hips and drawn to the back where a row of tiny crystal buttons enclosed it.

From there the attached ruffled silk skirt billowed out in all directions, gracefully fluid with every step she took.

In the back, the skirt cascaded further to form the train.

Fitting like a glove to the top of her thighs, it gave her an hourglass figure that made her feel like a movie star. Delighted, she kept the image to herself of the look she hoped to see on Colin’s face when he saw his bride for the first time.

Thankful for these few moments before the rush of the day began, she said a little prayer of thankfulness for how smoothly their move had been. With the help of Gigi, who wouldn’t let anything get in their way, the nightmares she’d expected never happened.

Upon their arrival in Vancouver, her mother had been another surprise.

Her agreeableness over most everything that happened had to be because of Jaq’s approaching role as wife and mother made her giddy with excitement.

Both she and Gigi were quite shocked at just how much the idea of being a grandmother had changed the grumpy woman.

Considering they’d thought she’d be worse with Jaq’s attention being diverted to her new family, she’d surprised them all.

The opportunity of playing gramma proved to be a personality change they loved.

Nevertheless, they had expected a huge battle over the sale of her house, and again, Jaq was pleased when it didn’t happen. They’d found a lovely new senior’s residence within walking distance of Colin’s home and the expected battle became just a tiny war over what she could take with her.

Filled with senior citizens young enough to enjoy the years they had left, her mom soon fit in with the other men and women…

and they attributed it to of her new gramma status.

As long as she could be with Maisie and Charlie as often as possible, she appeared happier than Jaq had seen her in a very long time.

Gigi, of course, kept to her old life, and thrived on the attention of the children who adored her as much as Jaq did.

She became a constant in their lives and helped Jaq immensely with settling in and helping arrange the June wedding.

As did Dina, Colin’s housekeeper, who hit it off well with the new family dynamics…

but especially with Charlie and Maisie who soon came to love her back.

Of course, the main reason for her extreme happiness had to be Colin.

The man delighted her constantly, and even after six months, he’d never stopped being her best friend.

She could discuss anything with him and always got his full attention.

He’d been a natural as a wonderful father with the kids, his patience unending, and both her mother and Gigi had become huge fans.

If there had been any stress at all, it was their decision to wait for their wedding night to be together fully…

to start adding to their family. As much as they yearned to be joined in every way, they’d been strong.

Made do with a lot of inventive love making, while saving the ultimate passion for their wedding night.

Thankfully, tonight would end all that frustration.

Hugging herself, her body tightening in anticipation, she knew they would finally come together, and it would be brilliant.

Joy filling her to bursting, her mind creating different scenarios, she was unable to stop herself from laughing out loud.

As she’d gotten in the habit of doing, she sent thoughts to Gisele bringing her up to date on how happy the children were to be included in today’s celebration.

Maisie looked like an absolute angel in her pretty pink flower girl gown, and Charlie was so proud in his first tux that matched his dad’s.

Could her universe get any better?

Actually – yes.

She’d practised the magical words for months, and the thought that soon they’d soon be legal made her laugh with glee.

Mrs. Jaqueline Jones.

Mrs. Colin Jones.
