Epilogue

The Watcher

At fucking last.

I had her.

All it had taken was weeks of planning, listening, and waiting. And a boat I’d hired on the mainland, the fast engine getting me to Torlum long ahead of the ferry. After that, it had just been a matter of finding her.

Success boosted my adrenaline, not that I needed the extra. For her, I’d endure anything. Wait any amount of time.

Thank fuck, it was over.

With my woman in my arms, I jogged down the beach to the lower level dock where my boat waited, tied up at the end of the reach. I cradled her to me, touching her feet to the planks.

“Step down for me, aye?”

Trembling, Dixie turned slowly, her frame rigid. Beautiful.

Her eyes widened. Astonishment lit features I’d obsessed over.

“You?”

Me. I released a savage smile, so different to my usual control, and let her see the conviction in my eyes.

I’d made a mistake once in letting her go. Never again.

The End.
