Chapter 25
Idid, in fact, sleep like the dead. Damn them and their thousand-thread-count sheets and comfy fucking pillows that smell like lavender. No wonder the rich are so happy all the time. How could they not be?
I follow my nose downstairs, smelling food and coffee.
I wander around until I find the dining room.
They are already seated, suited, and booted, with an older man sitting at the head of the table, a newspaper before him.
I didn’t know people still read them. I use it to bag dog shit left in front of our house and set it on fire when I track down who did it.
Still, I meander in and take a seat, grabbing a mug and pouring coffee as Zayn waves at me and Neo smiles. Kane is frowning, looking at an iPad, seemingly lost in whatever work men like him have to do.
I bet he’s really watching porn or playing cards.
“Who is this?” the older man asks, politely giving me a confused smile. He looks similar to the guys, just gray. Maybe he’s their dad.
“Name’s Bexley.” I nod as I sip the hot coffee, but I need the burn to feel alive in the morning. Honestly, I need an IV of it, even after sleeping.
“Bexley will be consulting with us on a problem,” Kane explains as he looks up, his features seeming to soften as he looks at me. “Hellion, this is my father.”
“Oh, the original Sai.” I nod as I sip. “Sup? You’re not as old as I thought you would be. I don’t suppose you’re into being a sugar daddy, are you? I have a lot of bills piling up. Kids are so expensive.”
“You have a kid?” Zayn spits out his juice as I frown.
“What did we discuss? You’re pretty but not too smart, so don’t speak,” I reply sweetly. “No, it’s my niece, Lauren. You met her at the party.”
“Oh, when you sliced the man’s hands off.” Zayn nods. “She was funny.”
“So, Sai OG, sugar daddy?” I turn back to him.
He laughs as he sits back. “Ah, you’re the hand thief. My sons have told me a lot about you. Sorry, I don’t like my women young, but I’m sure one of my children would be more than happy to help with the way they are watching you.”
“They are too vanilla for me.” I shrug. “I prefer my men more experienced. What a shame.” Reaching over, I steal Zayn’s plate of food and start to eat as he pouts. I can feel all the Sais watching me, but I don’t care.
“Karma,” Dodge calls, appearing at my side. “There is a message for you.”
“Karma?” Their dad’s eyes widen. “As in Karma of the streets?”
“So you’ve heard of me. You’re reconsidering the sugar baby thing now, aren’t you?” I tease as I look at Dodge. “From whom?”
“Wait, you two know each other?” Neo frowns, clearly annoyed.
“Before I went to sleep last night, I tracked down your head of security—”
“While I was showering,” Dodge mutters.
“There wasn’t a damn thing you needed to be shy about.
” I wink, and he blushes. “I asked for some messages to be passed along since I don’t have my phone and information.
I take my contracts seriously. The quicker I deal with this, the quicker I don’t have to see the three piggies again.
” I take the phone from Dodge and read the text, scoffing before deleting it then handing it back. “Thanks, cutie.”
“Well, what was it?” Kane drawls like he’s uninterested, but his focus is entirely on me and my answer.
“Oh, I was asking if they knew the best way to castrate someone,” I taunt, and his eyes narrow. “Chill, old man, nothing important yet, just an acceptance. Once I finish eating, I need to review all your staff.”
“There are a lot,” Daddy Sai says. “Is there a reason you need to review staff?”
“Don’t worry about it, Dad,” Kane murmurs, covering his father’s hand. “Just business.”
“You’re a lousy liar, boy, but I’ll pretend I believe you. I also won’t ask what happened or why the doctor was here so late.” Oh shit, Sai Sr. is more in the know than they want.
“It’s nothing to worry about. I’m handling it,” Kane promises and shoots me a glare that clearly tells me to zip it.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Zayn reaching for his plate, so I stab my fork into the fleshy part of his hand. He howls as he pulls away, but I continue eating. “Fucking hell, hellion,” Kane yells. “You can’t stab my brothers like that.”
“Why? That’s two out of three.” I look at Neo and grin. “Only you’re left, chosen one.”
His eyes widen, and he stands. “I have court to get to, bye.” He flees, making me laugh.
“You stabbed Kane?” Daddy Sai asks, more curious and unsure how to take me than mad. I know who he is. He might look calm and welcoming, but he built this empire. His hands are covered in blood, and he’s the most dangerous person here, so I have to be careful . . . or, I should be.
“He deserved it,” I answer as I shovel the rest of the food down and stand, nodding at Kane and Zayn, who’s cradling his bleeding hand. “I’ll get to work. I’ll find you if I need you. Make your people aware that they will either work with me or end up in a grave.”
“Understood. They won’t get in the way. Dodge, make it happen,” Kane calls as he eyes me. “Try not to kill anyone after four. My little brother will be home.”
“If I do, I’ll hide the body,” I compromise as I turn to Dodge. “Let’s go, hottie.”
I follow Dodge to finish this contract and get the hell out of here, their father’s voice following me.
“I like her.”
