Kate Rounding the Bases ♌

It was a couple of weeks later when I saw Eric again; the tall, perfect, Irish, awesome MLB player. I don’t think I’d ever met a man like him. Vincent was ok with me dating him, even though he was pretty raw about it after the first encounter. He met him the next time around.

KNOCK KNOCK on our wooden front door. Eric arrived at the house to take me out on the town. This time, Vinny strolled to answer it.

”Hey!” Vinny said as he opened the door and smiled at the giant man in front of him.

Feeling a bit surprised, Vincent answered the door, “Hey man, I’m glad I get to meet you this time,” Eric said as they shook hands. “You have a very special lady,” he said as he smiled at Vinny.

“Yeah she is truly amazing.” Vinny said while he nodded and ushered Eric into the entryway.

Eric took in the sight of our home. It wasn’t the biggest, but Vincent and I both had great jobs, so we had a 4,000 square foot home.

We also knew that we would begin having babies before we knew it.

Eric’s modest modern cabin could fit into our house twice over, but he only complimented the house as Vincent brought him from the entryway, into the kitchen, and settled the two of them in the living room with a couple beers.

”I wanted you to know I am perfectly good with these dates.” Vincent said, taking a drink to shut himself up.

”That’s great, man,” Eric couldn’t help himself from smiling as the shorter Italian man tried to make small talk.

”I don't know if she told you, but she has not been with a lot of men. I was hoping that this would be a good opportunity for her to experience more than just me. Maybe drive her to try new things with me too.” Vincent nervously looked around, thinking perhaps he exposed a bit too much about himself and his own reasons for wanting me to date Eric.

“Kate and I have only scratched the surface to be honest,” Eric said as he took a drink of his beer. “I’m not into sharing the details of my sex life though, I assume Kate shares with you? Um… what we do…?”

Vincent nervously looked around as if wondering where the hell was his wife.

“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable, but yeah she shares what you all do.

” He took in a quick shallow breath and straightened his spine.

“I am her husband, I understand you not sharing the details, but I think she and I have the right…”

”Yes, of course you have the right!” Both men got a little excitable over the idea of details being shared, and potentially feeling disrespected along the way.

Vincent was the first to calm down a bit as he took a deep breath and relaxed back in the chair, “Hey man it’s all good. Just know that Kate is my hero, she’s the love of my life. I would never in a million years want to jeopardize that with her.”

”I understand fully,” Eric calmed down a bit as he took several gulps of his beer.

“I’m not interested in stealing Kate from you.

You should know that. I was disappointed when I found out she was married and I was excited plus surprised to hear you were ok with us dating.

” A much more mature response than I expected from the giant jock, Eric truly did surprise me.

Now you may be asking yourself, how do I know the details of this conversation? It’s all because I was eavesdropping on them from the stairwell. There was something intriguing about observing how two men that wanted me would interact. You’ll see as my stories are revealed, some are not so nice.

I entered the room in a cute sporty skirt and tank top. Smiling at both men and giving them each a kiss on the cheek before sitting on the coffee table across from them, “Where are we going today?” Asking as I turned to Eric.

”There is a wine festival nearby, I got us tickets.”

“Oooooo, I love a good wine festival, I better wear some comfy shoes,” I said with a smile as I tapped his knee playfully.

“I’m not a fan of wine so this is perfect,” Vinny wanted to make it known that he was cool with it.

Eric looked at me then at him, “Yeah buddy, no problem. We may need to stay the night. Last time I got really lit.” What Eric was not sharing was that he already had a hotel room booked for the two of us, an adorable little inn overlooking the square of this small Texas town.

”We’ll just come straight home in the morning, right? I don’t want to pack an overnight bag,” I said this while I gestured animatedly to the stairs and my outfit.

”Of course, I know you have to get back to your hubby here,” Eric patted Vincent’s back, leaning over then standing up. I quickly hopped up and pushed him back onto the couch.

“Hold on, let me grab my shoes and a hat and we can go,” I quickly made my way to grab my accessories. Pulling my red hair back through the ball cap and putting on my black athletic shoes. I bounced back to the living room and waved my arm, “Let’s go already!”

Vincent rushed over to give me a hug and a kiss, lifting me off the ground. We each said, “I love you” and Eric and I were out the door.

Eric opened my car door, maybe the first man to do this for me, well, ever. I hopped into the passenger seat. Eric slid behind the wheel a moment later, he smiled at me and waved at Vinny before backing out of the driveway.

”What kind of panties are you wearing?” Eric wasted no time getting sexual today.

“Some boy-cut, blue, lacy ones,” I said with a solid smirk.

”Can you take them off for me?” His eyes twinkled as he asked me so politely. How could I refuse?

Like this, “Not today, ok? I’m not sure where we are going to be sitting or all the places we are going to be today…” I had started on a long drawn out explanation, but he cut me off.

”OH my GOD,” He interrupted me with a laugh, “babe it’s fine if you want to keep your panties on, I was just wanting to have easy access, but I get it.” We both looked at each other then glanced towards the road and started laughing. All over my panties.

My insecurities crept into my mind as we had a few moments of silence.

Even though he seemed quite happy with the moment, I was dying on the inside.

Should I just take off the panties? Would it be better if I slipped them off and shoved them in his pocket?

Could I make it a sexy moment now and repair this entirely unnecessary silence?

Did I mess this up already? Maybe I should just go home to my husband?

”It’s a beautiful day.” Eric’s voice boomed, and pulled me back from my mental spiral. He drove into the small town. It really was a hidden gem not far away.

It was a perfect sunny day where we observed the beautiful classic brick buildings, tree lined streets, and vintage American reality.

”It really is just perfect; we better wear our sunscreen,” the future mom and responsible clinician showed in my words as I felt another little flush of insecurity, glancing at my shoes.

”That’s a really good point,” he reached into the back seat, “I’m sure you probably tan like me, just red red red, and a tiny bit of color. Damn these Irish genes.” He handed me a bottle of designer sun block. “This stuff will protect us so good. It’s what I use on the field.”

”Awesome, baseball player facts,” I could only smile as I started to slather on some of the lotion, covering my arms and legs, my face already had sunscreen with my make-up. Eric parked the car and we hopped out.

Eric proceeded to put the sun block on his legs and arms, I watched him and his muscles moving as he did.

“Let me get the back of your neck and your chest right here,” He approached me and started rubbing it in.

His eyes sparkled and I truly felt myself melt a little on the inside.

I felt my anxiety was dissipating in the Texas sun.

His hands felt like heaven as they rubbed my skin.

Eric’s familiar touch was so perfect, I looked up at him adoringly.

We grabbed our sunglasses, adjusted our hats, and walked into the wine festival.

The town was beautifully decorated with flags and grape themed decor, the air filled with the scents of a variety of roasted and fried foods.

The festival spanned blocks in all directions, centered around a town square featuring a clock tower that was reminiscent of the one from Back to the Future.

We began our tasting at a booth known for their unique fruit flavor blends; I tried a peach-mango combo, Eric had a blackberry-strawberry, switching glasses so we could each try both flavors.

I was in heaven while I walked around with this adonis of a man.

Some people recognized Eric, and would ask for an autograph.

The day was filled with moments of laughter and wine and good food.

There were times when another man would check me out, Eric was keenly aware of these gazes and possessively wrapped his arm around me, pulling me close for a kiss or a butt grab.

A couple times he would put my hand on his crotch and then laugh as I pulled it away, slapping him on the chest. He was so territorial, so full of testosterone, and I loved it. I felt safe and secure with him.

“Kate, if one more guy checks you out, we are gonna have an incident.” Eric whispered in my ear as he pulled me in for a hug, standing in line for another sample of vino.

”Oh stop, you know I’m not out here hunting or anything.

” I playfully slapped his chest as he hugged me.

Looking back, each slap to his pecs hurt my hand more than him.

Then my drunk mind started to overthink, I thought maybe he and I shouldn’t be all over each other.

What if someone we knew saw us? What if someone took a picture of us because he’s an MLB player?

I gave him a quick kiss and pondered the implications of a professional athlete dating a married woman.

Surely everything is bigger in Texas, but the community can shrink real fast when a scandal is in the works.
