Chapter 11 #3
Yeah, it had taken at least thirty minutes of him sitting there, staring at Bowie and Penny playing in the water, for him to be able to get control of his wayward dick.
Seeing how much fun they were having made him smile.
He figured they probably hadn’t had many opportunities to completely let go like they were now.
Laughing and splashing each other as if they didn’t have a care in the world.
When he was able to stand without his cock leading the way, he joined forces with Bowie in splashing her mom. Then he’d urged Penny to take a break while he began Bowie’s swim lessons.
And he’d been right. The girl took to the water like she was half fish.
The trust she’d shown him when he put her on her back with a hand between her shoulder blades and told her to relax was humbling.
She didn’t like the taste of the saltwater, but he wasn’t surprised.
He didn’t like it either, although he’d gotten used to it over the years.
By the time they walked out of the ocean, Bowie could float like a champ. She wasn’t too good at actually propelling herself through the water yet, but that would come in time. The first step was floating, and he made sure to keep up a steady stream of praise.
The afternoon had been long, leisurely, and wonderful.
When he saw both Bowie and Penny’s eyes struggling to stay open as they sat in their chairs, he decided it was time to call it a day.
They packed everything up and headed for his car.
They stopped for some fast food on the way back to his place—of course, Bowie wanted chicken fingers—and ate an early dinner in the car.
When they got to his apartment, Penny took Bowie into the bathroom to shower and change.
They both emerged with pink cheeks from the sun and wet hair.
It was adorable how alike they looked at that moment.
Pyro told them to make themselves comfortable as he took his own shower.
He didn’t dally though, as he wanted to spend every moment he could with his girls.
They played Connect 4 and Uno for hours, games that Pyro purchased last week, which had been modified for the blind. He’d made popcorn to snack on and his apartment was filled with laughter for the first time ever.
Afterward, Bowie settled between him and Penny on the couch and they took turns reading to her. Around eight o’clock, the little girl’s eyes drooped and it was obvious she was fighting sleep.
“Time for bed,” Penny said softly.
“I’m not tired,” Bowie insisted, then yawned.
“Right. Bed, girlfriend.”
“I don’t want to miss anything,” she whined.
“Nothing interesting is going to happen,” Pyro reassured her.
“We’re going to watch the boring news, then head to bed.
Tomorrow morning, we’ll make pancakes or waffles, and we can have a rematch on Connect 4.
I still say you cheated somehow because there’s no way I could’ve lost six games in a row! ”
Bowie giggled. Then she held up her arms to Pyro. “Carry me?”
Touched beyond belief, Pyro looked to Penny for her permission. She smiled at him and nodded. He picked up Bowie as if she was made of glass, and nothing had felt more right than when she put her head on his shoulder as he carried her toward her room.
He placed her on the bed and tucked her in. “There, snug as a bug in a rug,” he told her.
“Kylo-Pyro?”
“Yeah, Bowie-Bear?”
“Today was the bestest day ever. Thank you for teaching me to swim. And taking Mommy and me to the beach. And for our suits. And for my bed. And for reading to me and getting me that Uno game with braille so I can play without anyone telling me what my cards say. And for letting me win all the Connect 4 games.”
Pyro wasn’t too surprised she realized he was purposely throwing games so she could win. She was too smart for his shenanigans. “Thank you for trusting me to help you float. And for being the bestest little girl in the world.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, sweet girl. Now get some sleep. Today was long and tiring.”
“Yeah,” Bowie agreed, before turning onto her side and closing her eyes.
Pyro watched her sleep for a few minutes, before leaving her room and shutting the door behind him.
He went back into the living room, only to see that Penny had taken their used glasses to the kitchen, put away the games, and folded the blankets they’d been using.
Now she was standing by the couch, looking…unsure.
“What’s wrong?” Pyro asked, immediately looking around for a threat. For whatever had changed her from relaxed and sleepy to nervous and unsettled.
“Nothing,” she answered. Then she straightened her shoulders before walking toward him with a determined look in her eye.
Before he could figure out what was wrong, she’d walked into his personal space, put her arms around his shoulders, and kissed him.
Pyro responded instinctively, clasping her to him with an arm around her waist and tilting his head to take the kiss deeper. When they finally came up for air, they were both breathing hard and fast.
“Penny?”
“You, Pyro, are lethal, in all the best ways. I wasn’t prepared for how hot you would be in a swimsuit.
I wanted to jump you right there on the beach, but I also didn’t want to get arrested.
Thank you for being so awesome with my daughter.
With both of us. I want you. But I understand if you’re not ready for more, especially since Bowie and I are a package deal. ”
In response, Pyro put his hands on Penny’s ass and lifted. She let out a quiet, surprised screech, then quickly wrapped her legs around him.
He turned and headed for his room, gently kicking his door shut after he entered.
He put a knee on the bed and dropped Penny onto her back in the middle. “I’ll still sleep on the couch if you want me to,” he forced himself to say. It might kill him to walk away, but he would. Without one word of complaint.
Her hand came up to the back of his neck and her fingers caressed the sensitive skin there.
“No. Did you miss the part where I said I wanted you?” she asked, sounding a little shy, even though her legs were around him, her hands were making goose bumps break out on his skin, and her eyes were giving fuck-me vibes.
“No, I didn’t miss it.” He pressed his hips down, letting her feel his rock-hard cock against her belly. “But I want you to be sure. Because once we do this, make love, there’s no going back. I’m going to want you in my bed, or to be in yours, every damn night if possible.”
She licked her lips and nodded.
“Say the words, Penny. Be sure.”
“I’m more than sure. You’re not John, and I’m not in my early twenties anymore. You’d never do anything to hurt or endanger me or Bowie. I know that deep in my soul.”
“Damn straight.”
“Make love to me, Kylo.”
“With pleasure.” Pyro’s skin rippled with anticipation. His cock was already spilling precome. But he wouldn’t rush this. Not their first time. There would be quickies later, he was sure. But he wanted Penny to be as overwhelmed with feelings as he was.
When he’d become a Night Stalker, he’d felt as if he’d belonged somewhere for the first time in his life. And now he had that feeling once more. But it was different.
He finally had a family.
His teammates were family as well, but not like Penny and Bowie. They were his, as much as he was theirs. For a foster kid who’d never had anything special that belonged to him and only him, it was heady knowledge.
“Well? Are you going to move or just crouch there staring at me?” Penny asked boldly.
But he could still hear the nervousness in her tone.
Which was unacceptable. When she was with him, she should feel nothing but pleasure and satisfaction, and never any uncertainty about whether he wanted her or not.
“I’m relishing the moment,” he said quietly. “I can’t quite believe you’re here. That everything I’ve ever wanted is coming true.”
“Pyro,” she whispered.
“You won’t regret this. I won’t let you.
I’ll be the kind of man you and your daughter need.
I’ll fight for you, protect you, and treat you the way you should’ve always been treated.
By your parents, foster parents, your husband, and everyone you met after he died.
You aren’t alone anymore, Penny. You’ve got me, my team, our friends. ”
Tears swam in her eyes, and even though he knew they were happy tears, he still hated the sight of them.
Pyro lowered his head and kissed her. It started out loving and sweet, but quickly turned carnal. He needed her. Now.
