Chapter 15
Fiona:
Lying in bed next to Keir, who was sound asleep, I thought back to everything we had learned and talked about tonight.
I had to admit, being offered a job that let me run a lab the way I thought it should be run had been amazing, even though it scared me.
What if I let them all down? I asked Keir about it when we were alone, but he told me he was confident I wouldn’t.
He had faith in me. Keir asked me to have the same faith in myself.
My question about the women in those families remained unanswered.
Royal acknowledged he got the request and would find out as soon as he could.
Everything we talked about regarding moving all of us to Needles had lasted a long time.
I started a list. There was a lot that went into coordinating something like that.
What I found sweet was that Keir answered questions, made suggestions to add to the list, and more, so did Nico and Gunnar.
Those two acted almost as happy with the idea as Keir.
When we went to bed for the night, Keir had surprised me.
After a week of somewhat rough, though immensely satisfying sex, he made love to me gently.
He wrung so many orgasms out of me, I lost count.
I tried to keep my cries muffled due to my family and the others, but it was impossible.
Even if all I did was barely whimper aloud, shifter ears picked that up.
Finally, I gave up trying to hide. It wasn’t as if no one knew what we did in my bedroom.
I yawned. Then, Keir’s arms tightened around me. I was cuddled up to him. “Stop stressing and thinking. Go to sleep. You need your rest. It’ll all work out,” he murmured. I snuggled closer, kissed over his heart, then closed my eyes. He was right.
As I drifted off to sleep, I swore I heard him whisper, “I love you.” But I was too far under to reply.
