Chapter Twenty-Three #2

Her back arched, her fingers tangled in his thick glossy hair, holding him to her. “Feels good.”

“It’s going to get better.” He kissed a path down her torso until he was sprawled between her spread thighs.

He was so tall he was forced to kneel on the floor, pulling her slightly down the mattress.

The intensity of his gaze sent her temperature soaring.

Big hands wrapped around her thighs and pushed them apart, his actions rough enough to send a quiver of excitement through her.

“Kier.” The black of his eyes widened until it almost filled them. Less than a day ago, that would have frightened her, but she’d seen and heard and been through too much for it to faze her. It was a part of him, what made him who he was.

Lowering his head, he feasted.

Her head thrashed back and forth as he licked the slick folds of her sex and sucked on her clit. Her hands fisted in the covers, and she held on as he pushed her higher. Her inner muscles tightened, an indication of her impending climax. “Inside me. Now.” Grabbing handfuls of his hair, she tugged.

He surged up and over her. The head of his penis breached her opening and kept going. With a flex of his hips, he filled her. The heat, the sense of fullness, the connection, shot her over the edge. Her core rippling around him, she called his name.

Hands planted on the mattress for support, he bucked against her, fast and furious. It was hard and quick, a claiming more than lovemaking. Head thrown back, the expression on his face a mixture of pleasure and pain, he came, spilling inside her, offering her all that he was, all that he had.

When he collapsed atop her, she wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders and held on, both of them gasping as if they’d run a race. Maybe they had, but in this particular contest, they’d both emerged winners.

Time had ceased to have any meaning. She had no idea what hour of day or night it was and didn’t care, content to drift in a cocoon of bliss. Her entire body was one big noodle, limp and warm. The comparison had her stomach growling.

Kieran lifted his head. “You’re hungry.” His frown would have scared most people, but not her.

“It would seem so. What time is it?” They couldn’t stay in bed forever, no matter how good an idea it was. The outside world would eventually intrude. A part of her was putting off discussing the future. They deserved a breather.

“I have no idea.” He nuzzled her neck, sending a jolt of heat through her.

After the orgasm she’d had, she hadn’t thought that possible, but then again, Kieran was no normal lover.

He was the man she loved. When she sighed and turned her head to the side to give him better access, he nipped the tender skin before nibbling on her earlobe.

His erection flexed inside her, making her gasp.

“You’re hard again?”

“Mmm, that’s your fault. You’re irresistible.

” Then he began to move, more slowly this time, rocking against her so his pelvis ground against hers, stimulating her clit with each stroke.

Eyes locked, they rode the wave of pleasure until it burst. The tender orgasm was no less devastating then the first. If anything, it was more emotional.

The way he watched her, adjusting his body for her maximum pleasure, alert to the slightest change in her, made her eyes burn.

When he withdrew and turned them onto their sides, she snuggled against him, loving the heat from his skin, and the scent of the woodsy soap he favored combined with the muskiness of their lovemaking.

The rough tips of his fingers trailed over her spine.

He kissed the top of her head. When he sighed, she knew their respite was over.

“We need to decide what comes next.”

Sitting up, she pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. “What will you do?” No point in beating around the bush.

Sprawled beside her, he was an impressive sight, totally comfortable with his own nudity. He was also still erect. She yanked her eyes back to his face. Focus, Georgia.

He reached out and took one of his hands in hers, playing with her fingers. “That’s entirely up to you. My father was right about one thing. We have a decade or so in Redemption before we have to leave. Not aging makes it difficult to live in a modern world.”

“I’ll have to give up my bakery, won’t I?” It was a dream she’d nurtured since she was a teenager. It had been the driving force in her life.

“Not immediately, but eventually, yes.” He sat up and turned to face her, his expression bleak. “It’s a lot to ask.”

The tightness in her chest dissipated, the knot in her stomach vanished, and a sense of calm settled over her. “The bakery is one of my dreams, but I had another.”

“Tell me.” He brought her hand to his lips, kissing each knuckle in turn.

“Ah, it’s difficult to think when you do that.” Rather than stop, he sucked one finger into his mouth. Her core tightened. “Kieran.”

He released her finger with a wet pop. “Sorry.” His expression said the opposite. If anything, he was pleased with himself.

This was more difficult to talk about than the bakery. When it came to the kitchen, she was confident in her skills. It was the relationship area where she struggled. “I always wanted a man to love me as much as I loved him, a partner in life to share the ups and downs with.”

Eyes more solemn than she’d ever seen them, he cupped her face.

“I want the position. We don’t know each other well, but I’ve lived for longer than you can fathom.

What’s between us is special and rare. The connection is what matters.

The rest is details. I’ve chased my dreams. Let me be by your side as you chase yours.

Take a chance on me, on us.” He took a deep breath. “I love you, Georgia Baker.”

Overcome, she threw herself at him, sending them both flying backward.

He caught her and pulled her against him as the momentum took them straight off the bed.

They landed with a hard thud. He threw his head back and laughed.

Totally unrestrained, his joy pierced her heart. Then she was laughing with him.

“You’re going to keep me on my toes, aren’t you?”

She sat up on his thighs, hands pressed against his chest. “It’s scary to consider leaving everything behind and going into the unknown.

” His humor fled, and he tensed beneath her.

“But you’re worth it.” Leaning down, she rubbed her nose against his before dropping a kiss on his lips.

“I love you. You changed me in ways I don’t fully understand.

Your love and acceptance has made me stronger, more certain of myself. ” That was a gift beyond price.

“From the moment my father dropped me in Redemption—literally dropped me—”

“He didn’t, did he?” she interrupted before he could finish.

“Oh yeah. I think the old man enjoyed it a tad too much. I thought this was another assignment, a quick in and out and back to my old life.” He pulled her down until her head was on his shoulder.

“I’m so fucking glad I failed. You’ve given me more than you’ll ever know.

Eternity was a black hole of nothing until you. ”

The desolation in his words made her shudder. “We’re together now.” She raised her head. “For forever.”

“For forever.” His big hand cupped the back of her head and pulled it down until their lips were almost touching. His erection flexed beneath her.

“Again?”

“One more time, and then I’ll feed you.”

Laughing, she kissed him, looking forward to a million tomorrows.
