Chapter 35
KILLA
Savage called church as soon as Cass was settled, but before I go, I head to the small living space the women call a snug room.
Abs is sitting at the entrance, and I give him a swift kick as I push past him. Poor kid looks half dead but remains close by Noah as instructed.
My boy is wrapped in fresh blankets, his little lips parted just like his mama does when she sleeps. His little fist clings to the ring I gave him, and I kneel beside him to stroke his silky dark hair.
The thought of that prick terrorizing him sends a violent wave of fury through me, but the surge of love I feel toward him is far stronger.
My poor boy was kept in that container at God knows what age and with God knows who. I’m sure there will be a lot I’ll never know, and much more I’ll never understand, but I’ll be there for them both every step of the way.
“Gonna keep you and your mama safe, kid. Gonna love you like you deserve. You’re an Unholy now and forever.”
I kiss his forehead and stand, giving him one final look before I head into church.
Rage radiates off Venom as he marches up and down the room, and I glance around to look for Winnie and take my seat.
“She’s with the girl,” Warrior explains.
Savage slams his fist on the table. “Venom, can you just sit the fuck down?”
The room is alight with tension, each of us exhausted, astounded, and full of a need to spill blood, spill vengeance.
Venom releases a heavy huff and drops down into his chair, staring at the table with hate-filled eyes and a tic in his jaw.
Savage slams the gavel down and waves a hand in Hunter’s direction. “Tell us everything you know.”
Hunter clicks away on his laptop, and the sound sets my teeth on edge. Every time he uses that thing lately, it brings with it more turmoil than the last.
“Okay. So, the pigs have the site locked down.”
I can’t help the snort that leaves me. Locked down, my ass. They missed that burial sight the first time around. Either that, or someone continued their work after they left. The thought is alarming.
“The bodies are a fairly recent addition,” he adds.
Shit.
“Tire marks from a bike were found near the barn, along with what appears to be truck marks. They’re doing DNA samples on the bodies now. Soon as they know anything, we will know.” Hunter taps his hand on the side of the laptop, and I’m grateful for his skillset.
“How’d he know Cass was a part of the club?” Warrior asks, and my heart surges at the way my brother includes her despite her not being an official member just yet.
Hunter scratches his head and blows out a deep breath. “Honestly, I’m not sure yet. I don’t know if Benjamin somehow used a connection higher up or if it was something to do with the tire marks we found. Maybe a club tipped him off?” He shrugs.
I grind my jaw from side to side, hating that we’re left with more questions than answers. Something I want to change when I get my hands on the sick fucker.
Savage sits forward. “What about the girl?”
“No name. I’m working my way through the missing persons files, but the girl can’t remember shit.”
“She doesn’t know who she is?” Slash queries, with a furrowed brow.
“Stella said with the trauma she’s gone through, it’s probably a form of amnesia,” Savage says.
“What we gonna do with her?” Warrior asks, rubbing at the scruff on his jaw.
“She’s refusing anyone near her but Stella and Venom.” He locks his eyes on Venom, but Venom continues to stare at the table like it offends him.
I clear my throat. “How old is she?”
“Stella said she’s guessing around sixteen, maybe younger. She’s malnourished, so it’s difficult to say,” Savage says, and a chill creeps over me.
Fuck, this is a nightmare. “Shit,” I grunt out.
“Yep. The sooner we separate her from Venom, the better.” Hunter grimaces, and Venom doesn’t react.
“Good luck with that. She almost took my eyes out when I suggested it,” Raider says. “My fuckin’ ears are still ringing with her bitchin’ too.”
“Well, figure somethin’ out,” Savage says, and Venom drags a hand over his head, the only movement he’s made since being seated.
“She hurt?” I ask, and Venom’s nostrils flare before he nods.
“Fuck!” I pump my fists. That sick fuck will pay, him and whoever he’s been working with.
There’s a strange silence hanging in the room as we take in the information. Another girl has been hurt, probably in a similar way to Cass, and we have no clue who’s involved, but one thing is obvious, it’s more than one sick fuck.
Clearing my throat, I decide to spill the good news I’ve been holding on to since Cass was in the hospital. “Cass is knocked up.”
The hoots and hollers and slaps on the back to congratulate me are the much-needed mood lifter, and when the noise settles down, I slink back into my chair with a smile on my face I feel down to my core.
Savage turns to face me. “Are you ready to slay her demons now, brother?”
I nod in his direction. “Hell yeah! Let’s go get some answers.”
I’m about to rip this motherfucker apart, atoning for his sins in the process, and maybe, just maybe I’ll get some closure for Cass and me too.
