Chapter 38
KILLA
It’s been just over a week since Carson came into the clubhouse with the audacity to ask questions as to how Benjamin escaped and if we knew where he might be now.
Of course, he knew the answer to that already, but protocol had him here, and judging by the way he grimaced when Winnie presented him with her new bone, he knew the fucker would never walk this earth again.
Still, the pig assures us he knows nothing about how Benjamin escaped, and Savage agrees with Hunter; they believe him.
Which raises the question: who the fuck helped him escape?
When Carson told us Alisha’s DNA was not in the container of thirteen bodies, I wasn’t surprised.
I can feel it. She’s out there somewhere.
But who the fuck knows where. I can only hope she isn’t suffering like my woman and kid have suffered already.
Like the girl Venom rescued, who refuses to leave his side.
Maybe Alisha’s own demons chased her away, and one day she’ll find her way back to us. That’s all I can hope for.
Venom named the girl from the barn Navy, which amused us all, because the dumb fuck has some poor name ideas, and Winnie is a testament to that.
We’re still no further along with how she got there, and she’s been through so much, so everyone is scared to push her to the brink.
All we know is, there were bike track marks there that day, so an MC is a part of this shit.
Shame we didn’t get any answers from Benjamin, but Cass’s closure was worth far more than giving him any further power over us.
Instead, we chose to move on.
“Are we really going to live here?” Noah asks, and I stare down at my little dude, and though he’s asked the same question multiple times, I don’t mind answering him.
“We are.” I grin back at him as he surveys the house again. His mama’s arms tighten around my neck, and I can feel her smile against my chest.
“You can put me down now,” she says.
“Walkin’ ya over the threshold,” I add, then step onto the first step of the porch.
The property I’ll now call home has a freshly painted wraparound porch with a swing bench so we can watch Noah play on the grassy field in the center of the properties.
My brothers helped me install a new kitchen and bathroom in time for the courthouse wedding today that legally declared Cass my wife.
With our marriage license in hand, I got the ball rolling to adopt Noah as my own.
I push open the door to our new home. “Go find your room, Noah.”
Noah screeches, pushes past me, and rushes for the stairs, making me chuckle. “I gotta car bedroom, Mama, with toys in it, come see!”
“I can’t believe you had me get married in your T-shirt.” Cass glances down at herself and wrinkles her nose.
“You’re exactly how I want ya.” I grin down at her. “My little demon.” I place a kiss on her forehead, and she melts against me.
“Gonna fuck you tonight.” My eyebrows dance.
A cunning smile plays on my woman’s lips. “You are, hmm? What if I’m too tired?”
I lift a shoulder and smirk. “Down with that. You know that already.”
She laughs and smacks at my arm.
“Well, we haven’t had sex since before, all of this.” She waves her hand toward the bandages on her legs. “So, I’m expecting big things.”
“I just so happen to have a big thing, and don’t worry, I’ll make sure it’s been worth the wait, just you wait and see.”
