Epilogue—Two Months Later
Denali
"Ah, yeah, baby, just like that. Shit—I'm so close."
My hands shake as I grip the headboard, back arched with a hand on the base of my spine as Kai thrusts into me, slow and even paced though he's nearing the edge himself.
He does his damndest to make sure I get mine, every time, before he takes his own pleasure, and it's so refreshing to be with a man that puts me first.
It's like our first time, every time. Every sensation is just as intense as the last, every soft spoken word and hushed whisper of need still serves to arouse and delight.
After nearly losing our lives in Khula City, everything is treasured, and we take not a single moment for granted.
"That's it, kara, you take me so good," he chants, lips coming down to meet my collarbone in a move so orchestrated he can do it in his sleep. "Keep going, baby, you can do it. Just a little more, Denali, give me just a little more—"
He's been on a mission to make my body do things it's never done before, things I'm not sure it's capable of. But I certainly am not about to complain that the man spends half his free time in bed with me, giving me the most mind-blowing orgasms of my life.
It's a perk, in my opinion, so much so that I've started sneaking moments in his calendar schedule that simply say my name and nothing else. Or sometimes, it's emojis that make it clear what I want him to do to me, or what I plan to do to him.
Like a little game between us, played with only two players and no losers.
Sometimes we get caught, like the time he lost a bet with me and had to take me in between sets on a show he performed on. He picked a fellow performer's dressing closet, and his staffer caught us mid-orgasm as he bent me over a stool and rutted into me like he was losing his mind.
Today was the first time I let him go without the condom. Our tests came back negative from the clinic, we're both clean, and we both want it. I'm on birth control. I'm not worried.
And if he is, he's not showing it. In fact, he's even made comments about moving to a new neighborhood, picking out our first place together. It's all so domestic, something I worried I'd never have again, that it brought tears to my eyes.
"Kai," I breathe, choking on the need to come, to let go, to let the orgasm wash over me, "please! I need—need it. Need you."
His grin spreads, I feel it against my shoulder as he nips and sucks at the skin there. "Just another minute, baby. You can handle it. Show me how good you are for me. Give me what I want—that's it, kara—"
His fingers slide down to my clit, and with a scream of his name, I come around him, shaking like a leaf, uncontrollably, as wave after wave of pleasure overwhelm me.
His cock twitches in my channel, and I moan as he stiffens and falls over my body, hands planted in the sheets so he can hold himself above me.
We lay there panting through our recovery as the news plays in the background. The ceiling tiles blend into one another as I stare listlessly up at them, uncaring about anything but remembering how to breathe, how to feel without every inch of my body throbbing.
And then I hear something in the quiet newscast that has me reaching for the remote, scrambling over Kai to turn the volume up.
"...two months since everyone's favorite actor, Theo Swanson, disappeared from his home in Nocturna Beach's North Hills neighborhood, never to be seen again.
Police don't suspect foul play at this time, but they're asking anyone who may have seen him on or after the night of January tenth to please call in with any information. "
I look at Kai, and he looks at me. We know what the other is thinking.
We got away with it.
Kai's brothers promised it wouldn't ever reach the light of day, and so far, they've been right.
I don't know what they did to that body, or where they dumped it, but as long as it never surfaces again, I couldn't care less.
We both owe them a great deal, though Angel insisted it was the least they could do after all that Kai had to go through before now.
Whatever that means.
"Hey, why don't we find something else to watch, kara?
" Kai reaches for the remote, but I hold it just out of reach, forcing him to roll on top of me to wrestle for it.
All I have to do to win and keep the damn thing is roll my hips at the right time, and then, whoops, we're fucking again, insatiable animals in heat.
By the time we get through round two, the news is wrapping up their segment on crime and moving on to bigger headlines in things like entertainment. I frown as a picture of someone familiar comes on the screen, along with a headlinet hat worries me.
Shamed idol flees to another country to avoid scandal. Investigations pending back home. What is kNight Entertainment thinking?
"Kai!" My finger shoots up, and I draw his attention to the screen, where a picture of one of his bandmates sits, the poor man bombarded at the airport as he no doubt headed out of the country for his own piece of mind. "Isn't that—"
"That's Tianyu," he whispers in shock, reaching for his phone. "What the hell?"
"They said kNight Entertainment, Kai. I didn't know they'd hired him on—"
Kai's calling someone, but the line rings for what seems like forever before someone picks up on the other end. His voice is rough; clearly he's not having a great time of things.
"Kai? Kai, I swear it's worse than it looks—"
"Tianyu," Kai hurries, "where are you?"
"Heading your way, buddy," he says with a dark chuckle.
"I hear your company is in need of more idols, and unfortunately for me, even when they prove I'm innocent, it'll be too late for my career here in China.
" There's some muffled arguing on the other end, and then— "hey, can you pick me up from the airport in an hour?
I'm going through customs check now, and I didn't call the company to let them know I was on my way already. "
"Yeah," Kai groans, rolling out of the bed with a wince. "Denali and I are on our way. Do you need anything?"
I slide off the other side of the bed and search for something decent to wear to go retrieve his friend, the one who calls every week now to talk to Kai no matter what they're both doing.
Their voices aren't loud, but in the silence of the room now that I've turned off the television, I can hear them clearly.
"Well, maybe a lawyer. And something to eat. I'm starving."
I look Kai up and down and lick my lips. That makes two of us. Unfortunately, my meal will have to wait. I dial up Arista as I slip into a pair of sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, careful to pull the hood all the way up and pair it with a basic face mask and some sunglasses.
"Hey, Arista—we're on our way to the airport to pick up a friend. I think you might know him—Tianyu from LoveTalk?"
Her laugh is light but worried, and I can hear the wariness in her tone.
"I do. I hired him myself—though I'm not sure it was the best decision for the company.
My bosses are livid. I'll send you an address; he's fluent in English, so he should be fine while he's here.
But I need him to meet with legal before he does anything else.
If you could drop him off at the lawyer's office I'm dropping you a pin for, that'd be great. "
I shake my head as Kai grabs the keys to the house and shuts off the lights, taking my hand to lead me out of the apartment.
"Sure thing, Arista."
"I'll have a car pick him up when they're done, so you don't need to stick around.
And for your troubles, please accept this as my thanks.
" I get a notification of a reservation on my phone and gasp when I see the name for the most anticipated restaurant in the city in the headline.
"Jun and I were going to go tonight, but I can't, since I'll be dealing with Tianyu.
So you guys go in our place. I'd hate to waste the table fee. "
She hangs up and we stare down at the phone like it's going to sprout wings and fly off. Kai chuckles, throwing an arm around my waist to pull me to his side.
"Well, it looks like we have plenty of plans tonight now."
I smile, because no matter what our plans entail, I'm all in, as long as I'm doing it with Kai.
