Chapter Fourteen

Calder

T he next morning Aiden refused to get out of bed. He was in a melancholy mood and no matter what I did I couldn’t bring him out of it. I could tell last night was too much for him.

I’m still wearing the same clothes that I showed up in because I don’t want to leave him on his own. The thought of going home to change has my stomach churning with worry. I find myself overwhelmed with concern when it comes to Aiden. I don’t like how he’s been lying in his bed for the past three hours just staring up at the ceiling. I mean, that can’t be normal, right?

I’ve been lying next to him, but still, this is just depressing at best. Morbid at worst. What the hell am I supposed to do to bring him out of this mood he seems to be stuck in?

He lets out a heavy sigh from beside me and I turn my head to look at him once more. He looks pale and there are dark circles below his eyes from exhaustion. I chew on the inside of my cheek as I think of something to say. Anything would be better than this dreadful silence between us.

“You’re staring, Calder,” he murmurs without even looking over at me. Instead, he closes his eyes as if he’s drained of energy.

“Yes, well… I’m trying to figure out when you’ll be done with your pity party,” I say calmly.

His eyes shoot open, and I bite down to hold my snicker in. I knew that would work. If nothing else he’s rather easy to rile up. He looks ready to murder me.

“I am not having a pity party,” he grits out, “can’t you just rot with me for a little while as I try to navigate through this new normal, I find myself in?”

“Well, when you put it that way,” I utter before pulling him closer to me, “but haven’t we rotted enough? You’re a bit morbid when you’re stressed out, huh?”

“I’m morbid all the time, what are you talking about,” he says rolling his eyes.

He lets out a little noise before settling against my chest with his face pressed into the crook of my neck. I feel his fangs graze against my sensitive flesh, and I have to bite back a groan. His fangs press into my flesh causing me to gasp as my cock twitches.

“Are you hungry, Aiden?” My voice comes out a gritty mess as I lick my bottom lip.

I’m waiting for the pulling sensation, but it doesn’t come. Not at first. My brow scrunches as my hand sweeps along his back waiting for his answer. He slowly takes a few mouthfuls of blood and hums in contentment. He slowly releases his hold on me, and I feel his tongue flick against my neck.

“Shouldn’t I be asking you that,” he questions in a muffled voice.

“It’s strange, you know. Sometimes when you bite me you don’t feed. Why is that,” I ask disregarding his question while trying to understand.

“I don’t know,” he mumbles, “it makes me feel better…”“Are you not feeling good?”

“I’m fine…” he mumbles shuffling against me. His tongue flicks against my neck again causing me to groan.

“Fuck, Aiden. Come to think of it, I’m rather famished,” I respond my hands gripping his hands as I thrust upward pressing my hardness against his. He looks up at me and a grin slowly spreads across his handsome face, “Do you always drink blood from a bag?”

I clear my throat, “normally, yes.”

“What happens when you run out,” he inquires with a curious look.

“Well, let’s just say it gets messy,” I mumble, “usually Marcus makes sure I have plenty of blood bags though. I haven’t had to worry about that little problem for a while now.”

“Does that mean we should head over to your place then so you can eat,” he asks cocking his head to the side as he studies me.

My stomach growls at the mention of all this blood talk and Aiden’s eyes shoot open wide in shock.

“Huh, I never thought a vampire’s stomach could growl like that.” I shift awkwardly beneath him before mumbling, “Yours has. Why wouldn’t mine do the same?”

“I don’t know,” he says with a little shrug, “it just seems so… undignified for someone like you.”

What the hell does that even mean? I stare at him for a long moment waiting for him to continue. He doesn’t continue though.

“Someone like me,” I ask hesitantly.

“You know, 'cause you’re so old,” he states matter-of-factly through a little giggle. I roll him onto his back, and he lets out a little squeak of surprise.

“I’ll show you old,” I huff out while grabbing his hips. His pupils dilate and his breaths grow heavy as his arms curl against my back. I thrust against him rolling my hips causing his back to arch in pleasure.

“Fuck,” he cries out throwing his head back against the pillows. His mouth parted with little pants puffing out of him as I pressed myself down against him harder grinding my hips. Sliding my hard length against his.

“I swear, can you two stop fondling each other for like two seconds,” Eve shouts through the closed door, “I can fucking hear you! It’s fucking awkward for me!”

My body jolts in surprise causing Aiden to let out a soft moan. Was she just sitting outside his door waiting to interrupt us? I let out a frustrated huff.

Aiden lets out an adorable little snort laugh as he tries to wiggle out of the compromising position as if he’s worried Eve’s about to bust in on us. I wouldn’t put it past her. She seems like the type not to know what boundaries are.

“You know, she’s not going to come in here, right,” I murmur against his ear. His body shudders underneath me as his hands clench in the back of my shirt.

“You don’t know that. But she’s right though,” he murmurs trying his best to be quiet, “we should probably go get you something to eat before you try to take a bite out of her.” My nose scrunches up in disgust. Yep, no thank you.

“I would never,” I protest in a disdainful tone through a cringe, “trust me werewolves aren’t appealing to vampires. They don’t taste right.”

“I heard that!” Eve shouts through the closed door, huh, I thought she left. Guess not.

“You should be thankful,” I shout back and hear her scoff in reply. Finally, I hear her footsteps retreating and I shake my head. I’m pretty sure she hates me. Oh well, I can’t please everyone, and my main concern is Aiden anyway.

“Well, I didn’t think that was real. I thought it was a Hollywood thing,” Aiden mutters in amusement bringing my attention back to him.

“What do you mean?”

“You know, how vampires and werewolves don’t get along.”

“Ah, yes. Well, a broken clock can be right twice a day,” I state, and he lets out a noise of frustration.

“Are you suggesting humans are stupid,” he asks sounding rather salty over the comment.

“No, I’m just stating that they are poorly misinformed, and rightfully so. If they knew about us then it would be chaos and witch hunts. I mean, we all know about the Salem Witch trials,” I state simply giving him a pointed look. He takes a moment to think about this before nodding his head in agreement.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”

“Good, now let’s get out of here so I don’t sink my fangs into something inappropriate, shall we?” He shakes his head at me but rolls out of the bed all the same.

“You just admitted you would never feed on Eve,” he says bluntly as I sit up on the bed swinging my legs off the side. I loop my finger through one of his belt loops to pull him between my spread thighs.

“You’re right, I did say that, but I also wasn’t speaking about Eve,” I utter lifting his shirt up along his torse revealing the soft pale skin of his soft flat stomach to me. I lean in pressing a soft kiss just below his navel causing him to hiss in pleasure. A weird satisfaction falls over me at hearing that sound come from him because of me.

“That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t mind sinking into your soft flesh, Aiden,” I grit out causing him to mumble something incoherent from above me. My grip on him tightens to keep him from squirming as I press featherlight kisses along the waistband of his pants. His hands tangle in my hair and his hips push forward with need.

I lean back looking up into his eyes that are now glossed over with lust and his little mouth is parted slightly, “what was that, little bat?”

“You don’t play fair,” he whines through a little pout and all I want to do is pull him down on top of me again. Instead, I stand up from the bed as he makes these little almost shocked gasps. Leaning forward until my mouth is right next to the shell of his ear.

“You’re right,” I whisper against him, “but I doubt you would like me much if I was boring. I think you quite enjoy what I do to you.” I sweep my hand down his chest all the way to the bulge in his pants. His cock throbs against my hand, and his hips thrust forward seeking more friction.

I lean back to look down at him and he swallows hard as his pupils blow outward. He clears his throat. And then again.

“Yeah, probably,” he manages to squeak out.
