Chapter 34
Dangerous Red
“ W hat happened to her?” The redhead woman says as Cole helps me into an older-looking mansion.
At least this place is clean. One glance around and it’s clear the place may be old, but it still holds its opulence.
Whoever this mistress is, she comes from a decent status. I wonder where Cole came across her? He’s not the kind to be welcomed into any inner circles. Although he’s tried to cling to me over the years. Noir is the one who entertains him as her apprentice.
I’ve told her time and again it’s nothing but wasted time. However, her heart is too kind. She would feed a stray and starve herself.
“She went after his mate again. She’s stronger now and?—”
“She’s nothing. He has surrounded her with wolves. Her time will come the next time we meet,” I seethe, cutting him off.
“Come, let me heal you,” the woman says.
I stop and stiffen as I recognize the woman and her aura. My mind whirls with a million questions. Why would she help me? Why is she here?
“Auntie Azar?”
She sighs. “Yes, my child. Come, you are severely hurt. I need to work on the internal damage before it’s too late.”
“Oh, thank the gods, you know her?” Cole breathes.
“Oh yes, well, you have served your purpose. Seraphina, are you terribly attached to this one?”
“Not particularly.”
“W … hat?” Cole stammers out.
“Excellent. I would hate to carry dead weight,” Aunt Azar says.
With that, she flicks her wrist and snaps Cole’s neck. I should feel bad. I’ve known him since we were little. Before either of our families came to this realm. However, I don’t.
I watch as his body turns to dust and floats in the air. Signaling his death. Azar brushes her hands together as if dusting them off.
“Good to be done with that. No loose ends. Now come, I’ll fix you up and the real work can begin.”
“What work is that?”
“You are going to help me get back to the Iron Brothers headquarters,” she purrs.
I think that over and open my mouth to tell her where it is. However, my mind goes blank. I couldn’t tell her if I wanted to. I can’t remember.
I furrow my brows. It hits me that my connection to the community has been broken. I will never remember my way back. Nor will I ever have access to the compound ever again.
Son of a bitch, he fucking cut me off. I broke the rules and, by law, have been exiled. If I’m not careful, I could be denied passage back to the fairy realm if Bradan thinks to have it so.
“Don’t worry. You may not remember now, but I will unearth your memories. That pledge will not deter me,” she says.
“Once you know where it is, what do you plan to do?”
“I plan to bring your lover and his brothers to an end. All my sacrifices will not be for nothing.”
