Chapter 49 #2

Laughter spilled from him, low and rough, chasing the tension that clung between us.

As he leaned in closer, his lips grazed my ear, and he growled, “You’re dangerous, little love. And I’m here for it. I’ll go first. If I lost my memory, what is the first thing you’d do or tell me about us?”

I raised my eyebrows. “This sounds strangely serious.”

“It is. How you answer them will reveal how you feel about us as a couple. Bash calls them the Soulmate Seven.”

“Hmm, Sebastian’s Soulmate Seven, huh? I would present you with your two favorite things in the entire world.”

“Which are?” He stabbed a piece of mango and presented it to me.

I took the offering and then unfolded his fingers from the handle. I moved to a kneeling position and scooted closer to him. Taking the blade, I balanced it on my hands.

“I would say, ‘My beloved, may I present you with your right hand.’ I’d hold out the knife—well, not this one, since it’s not your favorite.

But I would hold it out, like so.” I moved my hands up to give him his blade back.

“Then I’d hold my shirt down so you could cut it from me and have access to my breasts, which I sometimes swear you love more than you love me. ”

“You’re so bad.” He chuckled and leaned in to kiss my lips. He fed me another strawberry.

“My turn to answer. I’d have the dress you wore to the gala event shipped to us. I’d recreate that night.”

“The entire night? Hmm, that would involve Sarah on some level. I’m not sure I like that idea.”

“You going to let me finish?” he asked with a grin.

I nodded, and he took my hand and pulled me to my feet. He fished his phone out of his pocket and pulled up the exact song we danced to. And as the first notes rang out, he tossed his cell on the blanket and took me in his arms.

“I’d only recreate this part of it.” He looked nervous, just like he had on that night all those months ago, and my heart fluttered. Tentatively, he took a step, and we were dancing. My love for him soared, and he said, “Time for number two. Why do you think I fell in love with you?”

“I…I don’t know,” I offered, worried this meant we weren’t supposed to be together. “Maybe because you knew I needed help.”

“I fell in love with you because we’re kindred souls. Both of us were lost, existing in our day-to-day lives. You made me feel. I’d dare say you’ve made all of us feel. But for me, it was the first time ever.”

“Oh,” I whispered. The truth that he never felt this way about another woman was humbling. “Why do you think I fell in love with you?”

“For my blade.” Another grin stretched his lips wider, and he pulled my body closer to his, grinding his erection into me.

“Now look who isn’t being serious. Is that really your answer?”

He threw his head back and laughed. “You fell in love with me because I let you say the word fuck without worry.” I smacked his arm. “Which is another way of saying I let you be you. I accept you, flaws and all. Next question. What is your favorite weird habit of mine?”

“Hmm, let’s see. You’re a pocket tapper and belt wrapper.”

“What the hell is that?” He laughed.

“You have this habit of tapping your pockets to check for your phone, wallet, and such, and the minute you’ve completed that, your hand wraps around your belt to check your blade position. Your turn to answer.”

“So fucking easy. It’s your random ability to break out in dance or song. Everything can be going along like normal, and then you break into a spontaneous dance and song—often at the same time. It’s like being in a real-life musical.”

“Oh my god, I definitely do that.” I laughed as he twirled me.

“Okay, we’re halfway through. What’s an insecurity of mine that you love?”

“I don’t consider it an insecurity, but others might see it as such since you are normally so masculine.

But there is a small part of you that is shy.

You can be reserved, especially when it comes to public displays of sexual affection.

Like how you were that one day in Seattle, in the playroom.

After your turn, when we were cuddling, you were reserved and… shy, almost.”

He nodded, a small smile lighting up his face, and I swore his cheeks flushed a smidge.

“The one insecurity you have that I love is your constant need for affection. Be it in the form of cuddles or emotional connection, I love that you’re responsive to the fact you have needs. I also love that even if it’s not my day, you aren’t afraid to demand my attention if you need it.”

“Awe, that’s sweet, Blade.”

The song ended, and he pulled me down onto the blanket. Smoothing my hair back, he asked his next question. “What does living a good life mean to you?”

“A good life would be free from my past. The ability to be free in general, to be with you and your brothers. And you?” My eyes trailed down his body.

“To give you that exact thing.” He leaned back on his elbows. “Go ahead, I know you want to,” he said.

I straddled him. “Only two more to go. Quick question. Are you evaluating my answers to see if I’m entitled to and qualified to have this?” I ground my pussy against his cock.

His hands reached around my waist and down to my hips. “I am, so until then, I must insist you move.” He yanked and pulled me up so my hips were straddling his abs. “Besides cheating and lying, what else destroys a relationship?” he murmured.

“Lack of communication,” I whispered, feeling guilty. “Lack of trust. I’m sure we can probably agree on those.”

“I agree, but will add boundaries or lack of respecting them. And with that being said, I want to make a promise to you.” He smoothed my hair back behind my ears.

“I hereby promise to always communicate with you, to trust you and to respect every boundary you put up. Every day that I have breath in my lungs and my heart beats, I will prove it to you as long as you let me.”

I lay against him, burying my head in the crook of his neck while he rubbed my back. Tears streamed from my eyes, and I had to fight to stay in the present moment. To not let my mind wander to the fact I only had him for a little longer.

“The last question I’m going to reword since the original one I already know the answer to. Putting aside your past or need to disappear, if we lived in a different world, what would be your biggest fear for our future?” He pushed me back. “I want to see you, please,” he whispered.

I thought for a moment, unsure if pretending was wise, but the vulnerability shining from his beautiful eyes had me agreeing to it. “I would say how the world, primarily your mother, would react to us. How they might not accept us all as one.”

“Well then, I guess it’s a good thing we don’t give a fuck about others.”

“Ivan, that’s not true. You all care deeply for your mother.”

“Yes, we do, but she feels equally, if not more, for us. We’re her children, after all.

She will come around, you wait and see. Once she sees exactly how you complete us, she won’t be anything but accepting and will tell the world to fucking mind their own business. ” He pushed me lower down his body.

“Just like that, huh? Language and all?”

“No, she’d be much more polite. If you stick around, we can find out together.”

“Your turn. What do you fear about our future?” I asked quietly.

“Having to wait my turn for you to bear me a son.” A sheepish grin formed on his face.

“Seriously? What is it with you and your brothers wanting to breed me?” I moved my hips against him, and he groaned. “I guess it’s a good thing I love the process as much as I do. Tell me, Blade, how did I do on this little quiz?”

“You’ve passed with flying colors. But you have a little dilemma,” he groaned as I lifted my hips and pushed his sweats lower.

“Do I? I’d argue it’s not little at all,” I teased, pushing them further and freeing his cock.

He grabbed my hips firmly and stared into my soul. “I meant you have a decision to make. Do you want me here or in the lake?”

“Both,” I exclaimed, rubbing my pussy against him. “I want both.”
