Chapter Eight #2

My eyes spring open, shocked that I said that. Xander simply smiles at me and says, “You feel fucking amazing.” He then withdraws and slowly penetrates again, gliding in and out. I rock my pelvis to meet him and with each thrust he begins to move faster, humming with more than contentment.

“You like that?”

“Mm, hmm.” As much as I want to close my eyes and focus on how wonderful he makes me feel, I keep my gaze locked on his sparkling eyes. I expected to feel exposed, vulnerable—which seems ridiculous, given the position I’m in—but Xander makes me feel powerful and bold.

“You gonna come again?” He moves faster, grinding harder against my clit.

“I…—” I gasp as he rocks against me in the most delicious way. And just as I thought to deny having a second orgasm, I feel the tightening in my core and in my clit as it pulses.

“You will,” he states confidently.

His strength seems effortless, his movements graceful and fluid as he moves even faster, going deeper, and truly rocking my world.

He rears up, causing my hands to slide down his chest, bracing against him while using my legs for leverage in order to meet his demanding thrusts.

I tighten around his cock and the friction feels beyond amazing.

The muscles tense in his arm as he balances on the one, bringing his other hand between us to rub my clit.

I cry out, moaning and gasping. He’s relentless, determined to make me peak again before his release.

“Xander,” I say breathlessly, nearly running out of steam. I wanted to be the one to give him selfless pleasure and he manages to turn the tables, making sure I’m right there with him.

“Again.”

His groan is a command. Whether it’s to say his name again or climax again, I don’t know. Don’t care. I’m sure I’ll do both. At some point.

My thoughts become scattered as I hold on to him, letting him take me on the most pleasurable ride.

He presses harder on my clit while continuing to pound into me and I’m done.

I shatter, exploding as euphoria sweeps through me.

I scream as I squeeze him, and his orgasm follows mine.

His deep groan is drawn out as our bodies tremble together before he’s lowering his body on top of mine, embracing me.

“You wreak me in the best possible way.” His voice is low, gravelly. “That had to be a 10 on the Richter scale.”

“A record breaker,” I manage to say, once again trying to catch my breath.

Xander’s chuckle tickles my neck as he nuzzles against me before kissing his way across my shoulder.

I glide my hands over the taut muscles of his back while my legs remain wrapped around his waist. When he raises his head to look at me, his dark, intense look is now soft and sweet, and we give each other a smile.

He then leans down to kiss me, and I sigh, feeling utterly satisfied.

Our movement causes our bodies to separate, and I can’t help but playfully whine.

I love our connection, and I feel I’m already addicted to him after such a short amount of time.

He rolls, bringing me on top of him, his hands resting on my back. “I can’t get enough of you,” he says, nipping at my mouth.

I chuckle. “I was just thinking the same thing. Well, sort of.”

“Sort of?” He squeezes my rear and I laugh more. We stare at one another for several seconds before Xander speaks. “You okay?”

“Yeah.” I sigh. “I’ll try not to stew over what happened earlier at the ice cream shop. I know you’re correct in that I just need to let it go. What they think shouldn’t matter.”

“It doesn’t matter. Your happiness is all that matters.”

I give a quick nip to his mouth. “Thank you.”

“Totally off subject, but can I ask why you never had children?”

I blink several times, processing the unexpected question.

“Yeah, I know, my mind is all over the place lately,” Xander says, obviously registering my surprise at the topic switch. He shakes his head. “Never mind, you don’t have to answer.”

“No, it’s okay.” I pause to formulate my answer.

“There was nothing physically wrong with me, I just made the conscious decision not to have children. I mean, I enjoy children. Some children. Like Dani’s kids.

They’re great. I just never had the desire to have children of my own.

Most think I’m weird or wasting an opportunity. ”

Xander shakes his head again. “No, you’re not weird. If anything, that’s more responsible. Just because a woman can have kids doesn’t mean she should. Not saying you wouldn’t have made a terrific mom, just saying, it’s your choice, so everybody can keep their opinions to themselves.”

“For a few years, I tried different forms of birth control from oral contraceptives to injections, but I was one of those individuals who had horrible adverse reactions to it all. And I certainly didn’t like the idea of having an IUD placed inside me, so I chose to have my tubes tied.

Never thought my mom would ever forgive me for that decision. ”

“I take it you don’t have siblings that can give your parents grandchildren?”

“Nope. Just lil’ ol’ me.”

“Now I’m kinda sorry neither one of us wants kids. We’d have beautiful babies.”

My jaw goes slack and by the grin on Xander’s face, I realize I just fell for his teasing. I can’t help but smile as my insides turn to mush. “How is it I’m completely addicted to you already?”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that. And it’s the same for me.”

I cross my arms over his pecs to rest my chin and stare at him. “Soooo, where do we go from here?”

“How ‘bout we start with a quick shower before going to the show? I mean, if you still want to go.”

I can’t help but laugh. “Are you always so literal?”

His eyes take on the cutest shine when he smiles.

“Nah. I knew what you meant. I’m just avoiding getting into anything too deep.

” When I tilt my head, he rushes on. “As far as any discussion right now.” He pushes back my hair, framing my face.

“I mean, do I want to get in deep with you? Yeah, Michelle, I do. I want to spend time with you beyond today, beyond tomorrow, even next week. I want—”

“I want that too.” I smile at him. “But after that shower I’m gonna need you to take me home for some panties.”

He gets a wicked grin on his face. “So, no going commando, I take it?”

I bury my face against his chest and burst with laughter, my body shaking delightfully against his. “Uh, no, I’m not quite that daring.”

“Too bad.” He winks.

Nearly an hour later, we arrive at the Delray Beach Playhouse.

After multiple texts from Dani and Stacy, I had to reassure them we were fine and on our way to the show.

It’s a packed venue, as we knew it would be, and we’re glad we decided to hire an Uber instead of having Xander drive.

Otherwise, it would’ve been easier just to walk from my place.

Okay, so that was exaggerating, but I’m glad we aren’t walking several blocks because it’s still hot and humid at 6:30PM.

The show was due to start half an hour ago if it started on time, and when Xander opens the door to enter, we hear roaring laughter.

Exchanging a glance, we nearly cringe, knowing even with the lights dimmed, we aren’t getting to our seats without being noticed.

After all, they’re practically front-and-center.

Dani’s last text said she’d save the aisle seats for us so we wouldn’t have to crawl over anyone.

Just as I’m ready to move forward, Xander places his hand on my arm to still me. “Um, how ‘bout we hang out back here a bit and wait for an intermission?” He whispers.

I glance up at him and see a nervous expression on his face. “You want to stand here in the shadows?” I whisper in return. When he simply shrugs, I know there’s something going on with him. “Xander, what’s wrong? Are you just being courteous, so we don’t interrupt the performance?”

“Something like that.”

I decide to go along with his request, knowing there’s got to be a good reason but decide not to question him right now. “Okay, we’ll—”

“Hey! What’s all that commotion in the peanut gallery?”

I whip my head toward the stage and those loud words coming from Adam Sandler. Nearly every head in the auditorium has turned our way. Looking up at Xander, I see him roll his eyes as he takes my hand.

“I’ll apologize in advance,” he says, suddenly leading me down the aisle, presumably toward our seats.

“Well, looky who decided to join us,” Adam says into the mic, chuckling. “Xander, my man.”

I startle a little at Adam Sandler, the Adam Sandler calling Xander’s name as if they know one another.

“And he has a date?” Kevin James says with exaggerated surprise.

I look again at Xander to see him grinning even as he rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

When we get to our places in the second row, he waves a hand for me to take the seat next to Dani, leaving him with the one on the aisle.

As we’re seated, the audience is murmuring, probably wondering what the heck is going on. I know I am.

“Are ya settled there, bud?” Adam says. “Okay for us to go on?”

“T-T-T-today, Junior,” Xander quips while waving his hand.

Laughter follows, especially from Adam and Kevin, and it’s the most surreal moment in my life.

I look over at the amazing man next to me and he meets my gaze, winking as he takes my hand in his.

As the show resumes, we enjoy three hours of non-stop entertainment and music followed by a meet-and-greet with Adam, Kevin, and Anjelah.

I learn Xander actually is friends with Adam and Kevin, and they’ve jammed together at Dina’s bar.

“If we had more time before the fireworks, I’d say let’s head over there now,” Adam says. “But Jackie is in desperate need of her nightly ice cream.”

I laugh, commiserating with Adam’s wife. Exchanging a glance with Xander, he must know what I’m thinking as he chuckles, pulling me into his side.

“I happen to know another lady who might be in need of a sweet treat. After all, she got cheated earlier.” He winks down at me.

I bat my lashes at him. “Oh, someone more than made up for that with—”

“Save it,” Dani butts in. “Time to get back to the beach and secure a spot for the night’s finale.”

“Spoil-sport,” I tease while everyone around us chuckles.

After thanking our entertainers for a marvelous evening and everyone saying their goodbyes, Xander and I tell our friends we’re going to walk, and we’ll meet them at the bar.

Earlier when we’d gone back to my place, I’d decided to change into shorts and a t-shirt, along with comfy sneakers.

Besides my panties being ripped, my dress was a bit wrinkled, and my feet were tired of being in the wedges.

We shuffle through the thin crowd of remaining attendees, making our way outside.

“Tonight was amazing! And I even kept my fan-girling to a respectable level.”

Xander laughs then kisses the top of my head. “You were perfect. Those guys are so freaking down-to-earth. And Anjelah was a joy to meet.”

“She sure was. Crazy how I could picture us all as instant friends.” My gaze snaps to Xander. “I mean, you guys are friends, and I just met them, and, well, I didn’t mean that like I expect to hang out with them or anything. I just—”

“Hey, I know what you meant. I’ll wait a week or so before I invite them for lunch at the bar. I mean, that’s tactful, right?”

When I see his teasing grin, I bump him with my hip, barely causing a hitch in his step.

“How come you never gave me an inkling you actually knew Adam and Kevin personally?”

He shrugs. “Didn’t want to sound boastful. I mean, they’re simply friends to me; their star-status not really a factor.”

“You’re a humble guy, Xander, and the perfect friend.”

He takes my hand in his, kissing my knuckles as we make our way up to George Bush Blvd with the night beginning to settle around us.

The blue, clear sky gives way to faded gray with a lavender tone, and there are faint streaks of pink and muted orange decorating the horizon.

Although it’s still warm, the heat has receded enough to make our walk comfortable.

As we start across the walkway on the bridge, the last remnants of color begin to fade as if the curtain is closing on a perfect evening.

I stop to stare at the sky a moment before I close my eyes and take a deep breath. When I open my eyes, Xander’s gaze is on me. I give him an easy smile as I step to him and wrap my arms around his waist, looking up at his serene face.

“These past twenty-four hours have been unbelievable.”

“I hope you mean that in a good way because they’ve been beyond incredible for me,” Xander says, his warm hands resting on my lower back as he pulls me closer in a protective gesture.

We pay no heed to the pedestrians moving around us or the cars whizzing by; our sole focus on each other.

I nod. “I do. Never would I have imagined how my life would change from one sunset to another.”

“I’ll go on record as sounding corny by saying I hope to share my next lifetime of sunsets with you.”

I chuckle. “I love the sound of that. Now kiss me.”

“With pleasure.”

Xander lowers his head just as I rise on my toes, our lips meeting for a slow, luxurious kiss. A few whistles sound off around us and after another moment of indulging, we part, smiling.

Silently, we link hands and continue our walk toward the beach.

Tonight, I’m looking forward to more than just the fireworks in the sky.
