Chapter 2

Seb

“Do you need knotting to calm your nerves?” I ask as I push Ava into the master cabin.

It sounds ridiculous. As a thirty-year-old beta, how can I knot Ava, my twenty-two-year-old omega?

Two years ago, I could never imagine having this beautiful omega as mine. But now I do. And I never want to lose her.

And although I love her words of being mine, I can never take away the haunted thoughts I have that one day an alpha will come along and sweep her off her feet.

She denies it. Telling me after being kidnapped by an alpha when she was eighteen years old, and then her stepfather selling her to Garrett Jameson, the billionaire owner of the Jameson Hotel chain not long afterwards, only for Garrett to reject her. That Ava is not getting involved with an alpha ever again.

She’s adamant. Yet, I just can’t see it.

“No. I only need you. I’m only yours.”

I smile. I enjoy using the sex toy on Ava, but I love it more when she wants what I give her.

But I know she’s an omega with needs.

Needs that she uses me for.

Her sexual appetite is higher than mine, and that surprises even me. Since the day we took each other’s virginities, making me who I am, our sex life is out of this world.

I love sex with her, but I hate the insecurity I feel afterward, wondering if I’m enough for her.

One day when I feel brave enough to share her, I’ll make her go through a heat. Not with any random alpha, but in a controlled environment, like a heat hotel.

I just don’t know when that day will be.

I feel a tap on the side of my head and I realize I’m in my maudlin thoughts again.

“What’s going through your head, Mr. Lindon?”

As I snap back to reality, I turn to face Ava, her question lingering in the air. I take a moment to gather my thoughts before responding.

“Just contemplating our future.” I give her a soft smile before reaching out to caress her cheek. “You know how much I care about you.”

Ava’s eyes flicker, curiosity mixes with a hint of worry. She knows there’s more to my words than meets the eye. I can tell she senses the storm within me, the silent battle between my desire to keep her all to myself and the nagging fear of her slipping away because she needs so much more.

She takes my hand in hers, intertwining our fingers, her thumb stroking over my skin. “We have each other, Seb. Stop worrying,” she whispers. “I’ve found my home in you, and nothing else matters. We're meant to be. When Garrett rejected me, I thought my world was over and then I met you.”

“I can’t believe an alpha rejected you. Did you want to know more? Like why?”

She sighs. “I wasn’t his scent match.” She stares at the ceiling. “He was about to tell me something about the right alphas being out there for me, but I told him to stop talking, which he did. But he did say something strange to me. He told me to live my life and not hunt my alphas. He told me to let them find me." She shrugs her shoulders. "But I don’t care. I have you.” She presses a kiss on my lips.

Her words warm my heart, but since her sister Eleanor found her pack, I’ve had lingering doubts about her not only wanting me but needing an alpha. I know once her scent returns they will hunt her. But we prevent that from happening.

Despite that, I know I can’t keep burying my fears deep inside, hoping they’ll disappear on their own. Ava deserves honesty, and I owe it to myself to find some peace of mind.

“I know you're being kind to me, but your body reacted to that alpha today.”

“I’m sorry,” she murmurs.

I shake my head and take a deep breath as I meet Ava’s gaze. “There’s something I need to discuss with you,” I begin, trying to keep my voice steady. “About your heat.”

Her brow furrows in concern as she squeezes my hand tighter. “I won’t be having any heats.”

She leans forward and kisses me on the lips before walking backward to the bed, wanting to stop this conversation with sex. Something she’s excellent at.

“Forget the alpha. Like I told you, I don’t need alphas or heats. Just pretend I’m a beta.”

I appreciate her words, but I know it won’t always be like this. “I have these thoughts, and they’ve been consuming me lately.” I let out a sigh before continuing. “I worry that one day an alpha will come along and sweep you off your feet.”

She giggles. The sound of her laughter filling the room, momentarily washing away the weight of my concerns. “Seb, you know how much I despise alphas,” she says. “I only want you. You’re enough for me.”

I sigh because I watched her last night thrashing in her sleep. And seeing the slick that coated her legs this morning, I know there’s only one reason for that.

The alpha in the café did something to her, regardless of how much she tries to deny it.

“I can’t shake this nagging feeling that I’m not enough for you,” I confess. “As a beta—”

Ava’s expression softens, and she gently cups my face in her hands. “Listen to me, Seb. You’re more than enough for me. Our bond is built on something much stronger than an alpha-omega pairing. What we have is trust and a genuine love. It didn’t come from biology. It’s here.” She touches her chest—her heart.

I lean into her touch, wanting to believe her words, but still struggling. “But what about your omega needs? I can’t ... I can’t satisfy them the way an alpha can.”

“I know you’ll give me whatever I need,” she assures me without saying what I promised. That I could share her with alphas when I need to. “And I love you because of that. But you have to stop worrying. I take my injections, so nothing is going to make me suddenly beg for anyone other than you.”

I smile. She always knows what to say to soothe away my worries. And I worry far too much.

I suppose that’s because I was on my own since I was sixteen years old. Even before then, I was all alone.

My parents handed me over to social services in England when I turned six years old. I was too old for a family to want me, too young to understand it. It wasn’t until I met Ava that I felt love.

I still pinch myself.

She loves me. A nerdy hacker who wears glasses and is hardly a match for her.

“And I’m begging you.” She drags my hand, taking me with her when she lands on her back on the soft mattress. “Please fuck me, Seb. Show me why I won’t ever give you up.”

She pulls her top off as I drag her panties down her legs, her core already glistening with slickness. “Always wet.”

“Only for you. Now please fuck me.”

“Maybe just for tonight, I’ll make love to you.” I smile and shake my head once.

Ava wraps her arms around me, her fingers entwining in my hair as our mouths crash hastily. Her lips taste like the sweetness of her strawberry lip balm. I just wish I could smell her omega perfume.

But I accept she doesn’t have one.

Bracing her thighs around my back, she pulls me closer as heat pours into my bloodstream and our kiss is so fevered my entire body burns.

Slowly, our lips part, our breaths ragged as we gaze into each other’s eyes. “We have each other, Seb, and nothing else matters.”

She licks across my lips. “You taste good.”

Her words warm my heart, but the doubts linger. I know I need to confront these fears head-on for the sake of our relationship. I can’t keep burying them deep inside, hoping they’ll disappear on their own.

Ava deserves honesty.

I hold her thighs, gently spreading her legs apart. Desperation and need fill her eyes.

“Please.” Her skin flushes as heat overtakes her body. I know what she wants, and I want to give it to her.

I trace my fingers over her soft skin, feeling her heart pound under my palm.

I’ve never hesitated to give her pleasure before, but tonight, I want to make sure she knows just how much I care for her. Unlike an alpha, I want her for her.

Slowly, I kiss her, my lips exploring every inch of her face as I make my way to her neck, listening to her soft sighs as I press wet kisses down her throat.

“Seb,” she whispers, her voice breathy and needy.

I smile, knowing that I’m giving her what she craves.

I take my time, nibbling on her neck and shoulders before moving lower, trailing kisses down her chest until I take her nipples into my mouth, sucking and licking them until she’s writhing beneath me. Bucking against me.

Her breath hitches, and she lets out a soft laugh.

I continue down, my fingers gently tracing the lines of her hips until I reach the apex of her thighs. Spreading her legs apart, exposing the glistening slit and I know I’ll soon drive her wild. My lips ghost over the wetness, waiting for her sounds.

“Seb,” she gasps, her voice already cracking with hunger.

I take a deep breath, pausing for just a moment before diving into her.

My tongue explores my omega.

She tastes sweet, like strawberries and the honey she had for breakfast. I could spend hours just tasting her, but I can feel her need growing.

I slide one finger inside her. Her pussy grips it. She trembles under my touch.

I glide another finger inside her, feeling her warmth and wetness enveloping me. Her walls pulsing, already so close.

I curl my fingers, reaching for that spot inside her that always makes her moan in pleasure.

“Please, I need you.” Her voice is already dripping with need.

I smile, feeling a rush of pride knowing that I can satisfy her.

Her hips buck against my face as she lets out a deep moan, wanting more. I tease her clit with the tip of my tongue before curling my fingers again.

“Seb.” Her voice is shaky as her hands clutch at my hair. “I need you to take me.”

Her words are enough for a hot shiver to run down my back and I crawl up her body, ready to give her what she needs.

What I need too.

Staring into her eyes as I slide inside her. She gasps as her hands grip onto my shoulders, and I move inside her.

“Oh, yes,” she moans, her hips bucking to meet my thrusts. “Fuck me, Seb. Fuck me like you mean it.”

I oblige, my rhythm quickening, my thrusts becoming more forceful.

She meets me with every movement, our skin slapping together, the sound of our breaths mingling with the swishing of the waves outside.

“Oh, yes.” Her sounds grow more feral with each passing moment. “I need you to claim me, to mark me as yours.”

I pause, my eyes searching hers. I know what she’s asking for.

She wants me to be her alpha, but I’m not sure that I can do it.

I’ve never been a dominant one, always more of a gentle lover. But I see the need in her eyes, and I know I have to try.

I slowly gather her legs, lifting them over my shoulders, and position myself to enter her once more. This time, though, my strokes are rougher, more deliberate.

I keep sliding my cock in and out of her.

My heart is pounding as heat flares in my veins.

The feeling of being inside her, of feeling her body respond to mine, is the most exhilarating thing I’ve ever experienced.

“Harder,” she begs, her eyes locking on mine, her body arching to meet each of my thrusts. “Fuck me like you want me to be yours forever.”

I obey, feeling my control slipping away as each thrust becomes deeper, rougher, faster.

She cries out with each impact, her blunt fingernails clinging onto my shoulders as the pressure builds inside me and my impending release nears.

“I love you, Ava. Never forget that.” My words hang between us in the air.

Her eyes soften with an emotion so raw that I can’t help but feel it, too. “I won’t, Seb. I promise.”

I pound into her. Her pussy clamps around my dick and the feeling is like nothing else in the world. And when her muscles pulsate around me, I know that this is the moment I’ve been waiting for.

I groan and thrust into her one last time, feeling her slick warmth enveloping my cock.

“Seb—” Her body trembles as she cries out my name. “Bite me.”

Faster.

“Seb—”

Harder.

“Come inside me,” she whimpers. “Please.”

Goosebumps pop over my body as I press my mouth against her throat. I keep thrusting into her while my teeth sink into her flesh, sucking and biting at the tender skin on her neck.

“Yes,” she cries.

“Fuck, Ava,” I grunt as our climaxes join like we are one.

Euphoria fills my veins as I collapse onto her, panting heavily as I watch her face.

I pull out of her, feeling the warmth of her juices on my dick, before collapsing beside her. We lay there, sweaty and gasping for breath.

Ava turns to me, a small smile playing on her lips as she strokes a finger down my cheek. “You bit me.”

I take her wrist, feeling the thrum of her pulse underneath my touch. “Because you’re mine.” A sudden determination seeps into my gut. I smile and pull her closer, our bodies pressing against each other. I tap the tip of her nose. “Always remember that, Ava. I’ll protect you and love you, no matter what.”

She smiles. “That’s because you’re mine, Seb.”
