10. Piper
CHAPTER 10
Piper
G athering my itchy, horrible dress in my hands, I walked down the dark hallways searching for my Alphas.
Where were they?
Thank goodddd I had been able to wrangle Otis in to help me distribute the gifts. Maybe it wasn’t exactly the proper Omega way, but I didn’t care. Otis and Mary were the only two people I was actually happy to see, and they were stuck working my wedding. I didn’t even get guests at my own damn wedding.
With each Alpha, Otis bowed politely, then slipped a little business card for his Spirit Guide Consulting in their palms.
I wish I had some ancestors around right now to guide me to what the fuck I was supposed to be doing.
I hadn’t misheard Rook, had I?
He had said to wait for them in my suite.
Well, I was tired of waiting. I had been up there pacing back and forth and I was over it.
Where the fuck were they?
It wasn’t like I was in heat yet, but if we were going to have sex, all this waiting was just making me more nervous.
I’d been up and down what felt like every hallway, with no sign of them. This one seemed like it wasn’t very well-traversed, but I walked morosely down it anyways.
Maybe they had made a break for it.
Runaway grooms.
Who ever heard of such a thing?
Then I heard a little giggle, then a rustle, and a knot suddenly began to form deep in the pit of my stomach.
Creeping forward, I noticed that one of the doors down the dark hallway was slightly ajar, and that was where the noises were coming from.
Suddenly I did not want to know who or what was in that room, and I backed into the open door of what looked like a bathroom to get my breath back.
Gasping, I clutched the beautiful marble tile of the sink and looked at myself in the mirror.
What the fuck
Surely even they
Even they wouldn’t
They wouldn’t
We were supposed to be fated mates!
Then I heard another noise, this time from the room right next to me.
It was low and growly, and sent a pulse of sick heat to my stomach.
OK, now I had to know.
Carefully, I tightened my hands around the doorknob so it wouldn’t squeak, then I tipped the door open one inch and saw my First Alpha.
The first thing I saw was his broad, thickly muscled back and ass.
Rook was on the bed with a woman with long chestnut-colored waves under him, the muscles of his ass contracting as he thrust in and out of her.
For a moment I didn’t recognize her, then I knew who it was because I had seen them together a few times. Beatrice, their Beta campaign manager.
I felt sick to my stomach.
How had I not guessed? I hadn’t thought twice about them working together.
Rook was supposed to be this stern man of honor. What a fucking joke.
She raised her hips to meet each thrust eagerly, twining her legs around his back to draw him closer.
“I don’t want this to stop,” she moaned, and I saw him bend down and wind her long hair up in his hand, take a handful of her creamy breasts in one big palm.
I recognized her voice . . .
The sound of their flesh connecting filled the room, dirty wet sounds as he filled her.
“I don’t either,” he grunted in a low voice, bending closer to cover her mouth with his. “You know I only got married out of obligation. It’s not like I wanted to marry Piper. I’d much rather do this with you forever.”
I backed away silently as my stomach dropped. I didn’t want to hear more. I felt sick to my stomach.
But as I looked down the hall, anger began to grow beneath my skin.
I was pretty sure what was behind that last open door with all the giggling.
But I wanted to see if the asshole who had made me wear this stupid dress was also behind one of these doors.
Listening carefully, I made my way down the hall again, keeping an ear out. I felt disgusted but my eyes were dry as a bone.
And then I heard Erain.
He had been so anxious to get in this room he had left it open just a tiny crack.
I pressed my eye up to it as fury crackled along my spine.
He was tangled up in the sheets with Cressida, their bodies entwined together, flushed and panting. The room stank of sex and heat.
Erain stretched back and put a hand behind his head. His lean, tanned chest looked slick and wet.
She was cuddled into him, rubbing her petite foot all along his calf, her other hand on his glistening cock.
“What do you think her perfume smells like?” Cressida asked, nestling her head on his chest, her delicate white-gold ringlets falling down her back.
Erain snorted, looking down to where she was stroking his cock.
“I don’t know. Hot Cheetos and Marlboro Lights? I don’t even want to think about it. It’s bad enough that I’m stuck with her for life now.”
“Maybe you’ll fall in love with her,” Cressida teased.
I recognize that voice, too.
The other woman from the bathroom . . .
He snorted. “Hell no. I’ll never feel that way about her. I plan to spend as little time with her as Rook will let me get away with.”
White-hot hate of Erain flooded my body.
Fuck this and fuck him
Fuck all of them
Stuck for life? Not on my watch. Not if I could do anything about it.
I walked to the very last door, which was already open several inches, and it was what I had suspected.
Teddy was sitting up on the bed, getting pleasured by several women. There were two between his legs, taking turns sucking on what looked like a stupidly big cock, while he had one on each arm, taking turns kissing them as they squealed with glee, writhing up and down with perky little perfect bodies.
One gleefully plunged her pussy down on his big fingers and he wriggled them inside her as she gasped with pleasure, riding his hand with jerky moves of her hips.
Even Teddy had betrayed me.
Golden retriever, my ass. What a bunch of horseshit.
I turned and walked back up the stairs to my quarters, opening the door to see the expensive, luxuriously appointed rooms. This was supposed to be my nest, where my adoring Alphas showered me with love and tokens of their affection. Where they’d knot me.
But fuck this.
It wasn’t worth it.
The first thing I did was tear off my wedding gown, making sure I ripped the stupid sleeves and the ridiculous bustle while I was at it.
The second thing I did was attack it with some scissors and then cut it into little ribbons and send it though the paper shredder, feeding it bit by bit until there was nothing left.
Good thing I had barely unpacked. All I had here was a backpack and the kittens.
I changed clothes and went into the bathroom to get the last of my supplies.
Then I wrote I KNOW WHAT YOU DID in lipstick on the mirror.
I hated to waste good lipstick on these assholes, but I had to say something to make sure they wouldn’t come after me, so I added,
YOUR DICKS ARE A JOKE
I sniffed my shirt and realized I was so angry I was already starting to perfume. Any uncontrollable strong emotion could bring out your perfume, and I was filled with fire-breathing rage.
Good.
I’d leave them with a test of what they could never have.
Breathing in, I focused on each cell in my body, then let the breath out, releasing a wave of my Omega perfume as I did.
Erain was a jackass because I smelled damn good and I always had.
Now all I had to do was find a safe place for my kitties until any fuss died down, and then I’d be back to get them.
And I knew exactly the perfect place.
