25. Piper
CHAPTER 25
Piper
“I don’t know about this,” I said. “I don’t really have any interest in football.”
I fished around in my purse for my cigarettes, but Teddy made a low howl of pain.
“Don’t smoke those, Piper, they’re not healthy for you. Look, I’ve bought all these different patches and things for you to try instead.”
He grinned at me, both dimples showing in his cheeks.
I took myself firmly in hand before my Omega hormones got carried away.
He betrayed me, too.
I took them, his fingers brushing mine.
Disapprovingly, I noted my nipples had tightened at the contact.
I could not ignore the fact that my Omega wanted him. And that I was not totally immune to Teddy’s warm, butterscotch scent as he bent over me, that golden boy grin with the dimples, the way he sucked in his breath at the contact with me.
“I did a lot of research on them,” Teddy said, “To find the most effective ones.”
“I think I’ll start smoking twice as much,” I said, pocketing the patch anyways.
I had been trying to quit.
“Please, angel. I want you to see me as more than a meathead,” Teddy said, the low rumble of his voice rustling my ponytail. “Come, let me show you your seats. They’re practically on the field here, right behind this partition so I can see you as soon as the game is over.”
“I was hoping Chloe and Zoey would be here today,” I said as he guided me toward my seat.
Teddy swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down.
“I—don’t know how they are. I don’t talk to them anymore.”
He slid a sideways glance at me, a hint of pink blush on his cheeks.
“Don’t let me stop you,” I said.
“I deserved that,” he said quickly. “I deserve everything you’ve thrown at me. I just want you to know no matter what you throw at me I’ll still be here.”
His fingers skimmed my lower back and I felt heat pool there where he touched me.
Now was I still going to be petty despite his evident regret and sincerity?
Damn right I was.
