Chapter 45
Celeste
I was on cloud nine. Which, all things considered, was wildly inappropriate given that I’d recently learned the pack I was falling for had once planned my kidnapping. But they told me the truth about it. I knew that whatever they had wanted to happen that night, it wasn’t supposed to go as far as it did. And they were remorseful.
Truthfully, someone had taken me. And I still don't know who it was. I didn’t tell them about that part. I figured no one needed to know that someone was in on the plan and helped me. Whoever it was, they risked a lot to help me stay in power. And I needed to solve that one on my own.
I understood, in a way, why Pack Lockwood wanted me out of power. With all the things they thought I had done to sabotage them, with the way they thought I was a monster, I couldn't blame them for thinking the worst of me. But now that we’d cleared more of that up, I had something more important to ask them.
Vigo was tracing constellations on my arm, his eyes not on the sky, but on me. We’d been laying out here for hours now, the walls we’d built against each other now crumbling down. Now that we had all admitted that we wanted more, we were free to by as intimate as we really felt with each other.
Vigo and Dante were on either side of me, and I had my head laid on Liam’s lap. It was the closest we’d all been with each other outside of the planned outings. Being able to touch all three of them, really touch them with no paparazzi watching, was exhilarating.
I felt like we finally understood each other. I knew their misconceptions of me had fueled our mutual dislike of each other, but now we could move past it.
And I had something I needed from them, too.
“I need to ask you something.” I started, looking up at the sky, sprinkled with stars.
“Ask away.” Liam said dreamily, running his fingers through my hair. I took a moment to prepare. This would be a huge step for us, and something I knew I wanted - but it was still a risk.
“So, after the contract ends, I will be scheduling time off from work. Uh, you know. For needs.” I stated, sounding like a brand new omega instead of the seasoned, confident one I had always been.
The pack understood my reference immediately, and they all seemed to get slightly closer to me, their scents becoming stronger as I referenced my upcoming biological process.
“And, I wanted to ask you - all of you - if you would be there for me, during my heat.” Once I said the words, my skin burned. I don’t know why I felt so embarrassed asking. I suppose it was the admission that I needed help, that I wanted something from the very pack who only a few months ago would have stopped at nothing to take me down.
“That would be an absolute yes from me.” Vigo immediately said, and I started to let out a laugh just as I felt Liam’s hands tremble as he held my head.
“Yes. Whatever you want, just say it. Whatever you need, I’ll be there.” He said, and I looked up at his eyes, looking down at me so intensely that I nearly wanted to go into heat right there.
I felt a movement at my side. I turned to look at Dante, who was propping himself up to look at me. His eyes were full of wonder as he assessed me.
“Yes.” Was all he said, but he reached out and took my hand, giving me a gentle squeeze.
