19. Lucas
She’s here.
Somewhere.
Raine is loquacious, and she’s giving me a migraine. Non-stop talk about the vacation to the Greek islands. She still hasn’t realized I’ve stopped listening to her. I can only hear noise now, because I couldn’t care less.
Yet my cock is excited by the girl who used to be my redheaded beta turned pink-haired omega, and I’m so happy she is still an omega.
What did Stanton say his date was called?
How the fuck did he get a date with her?
Where did he meet her?
I’ve looked for her for months. I called her number and texted her, but she never replied. Her BetaFans and OmegaFans accounts have disappeared—just like she did.
And then she turns up at a charity event I’m at. And despite the mask I wore for her heat, she recognized me... or did she smell me?
That’s it.
The undeniable scent matching works like a magnet, drawing two people together in a way they cannot deny forever.
I’ve smelled her perfume before today. I’ve been convinced she’s been around me, and scented her too many times, but on the wrong people. And now I know it’s because her scent must have been on Colton’s clothes.
My search for her dwindled about two weeks ago. The time I decided she didn’t want to be found. At least not by me.
And now she’s here and her perfume is still that of an omega. She never had the implant—I know for a fact because I can only smell a natural omega scent and nothing manufactured.
“Do you think we’ll use these?” Raine asks, flicking the paperwork of the yacht details in her hand.
I shrug a shoulder as I stare at the door where I watched her leave from, and wait for her to come back into the room. “You can.”
The ballroom is abuzz with people networking while they wait for the meal to be presented.
“One minute,” I say to Raine, not waiting for her reply as I push my chair out and stride over to Stanton.
“How’s it going with Scarlett?” I ask him, pulling out Scarlett’s chair and sitting where she had. I’m doing it on purpose. To make sure my scent is coating everywhere around her. That’s why I pressed Stanton’s shoulder and then shook his hand. I wanted her to remember what we had together.
“You mean Grace?” Stanton looks confused.
“Grace...” I murmur.
“Yeah, I told you. And yes, it’s going great, but not as good as you.”
I narrow my eyes. “What do you mean?”
“A week on a fancy super yacht.”
I laugh and at the same time turn to see my father talking to Raine’s father, two tables away from this one. “The chances of me using those tickets are zilch.”
“What the fuck? It’s a free vacation.”
“Nothing is free when my father is involved. He always has a purpose, a goal for him, and it’s not worth accepting.”
“But you did.” Stanton’s gaze goes to where Raine is still reading through the paperwork. “And she’ll be disappointed.”
“And you know she isn’t my future wife and I won’t be honeymooning anywhere with her.”
“And you know…” Stanton’s mouth turns up at the edges as he stares at the door. “This is your last chance to accept we’re a pack, because right now it’s me who has our omega.”
I turn and look at Grace casually walking back to the table.
She swallows as her eyes dart from left to right, from Stanton to me and back again.
“She’s gorgeous, isn’t she? I’m trying to convince her to come home with me... us,” Stanton says.
I laugh. “She doesn’t remember you, does she?”
He groans. “Not yet. I’m thinking about telling her.”
“She’ll run a mile.”
“Or into my arms.”
A deep growl leaves my throat. “She’s mine.”
Stanton clicks his tongue. “Just one problem there. I just don’t know if...” Stanton stares over my shoulder at Colton and leans closer to me and whispers, “I don’t know if I want to share my pregnant omega with anyone else.”
“She’s pregnant...” I swallow.
He nods.
“She’s pregnant,” I repeat with a hiss, stating the fucking obvious. “She doesn’t look pregnant.”
“I know...” Stanton turns and looks at me with narrowed eyes. “I’m keeping her.”
“You’re a fucking fuck boy. You can’t give up your ways for her. You told me you never would.”
“Well, I did, remember, and now I’m glad I did. She’s mine and I’m keeping her.”
I lower my mouth to Stanton’s ear and growl, “You know she’s mine. The baby is mine. Now leave her alone so I can win her back.”
“No.”
“What the fuck do you mean... No?”
“Just no. You found our omega. Then you gifted her to me. Then you lost her. And now I found her again. And I will not lose her.”
“Stanton!” I grunt.
“I might share her with you.” He smiles. “Because it proves everything I’ve always known. We are a pack, Lucas Hilton. We found our omega, and she’s having our baby.”
”Mybaby,“ I growl.
“It could be mine.”
“It’s more likely to be mine. I fucked her more than you did.”
“Just one of my super swimmers was all that was needed.”
“Stanton, if you don’t shut the fuck up, I’ll…”
“Oh. Your father is on his way back to the table. Would you like me to make a scene?”
“I’m going to fucking kill you.”
“No, you’re not. You’re going to ask me nicely to take care of our omega while you persuade your father that everything is lovely with your date, and I’ll look after Grace.” Stanton grins. “Maybe the three of us could use that yacht to get to know each other better.”
“Stanton...” I hiss through gritted teeth.
“Leave it to me, Lucas. You lost her and now I’m going to be the one who brings her to us, but you have to agree we’re a pack first.”
“Excuse me,” she says as her deep brown eyes lock on mine. The air feels like it is slowly deflating from my lungs like a balloon as I look at her.
She’s gorgeous. Her hair is no longer red, now the pink hue is beautiful against her deep brown eyes.
“We need to talk,” I tell her. I can’t believe she is pregnant with my child.
Fuck, I’m going to be a father.
“Your date is looking for you,” Stanton says.
I glare at him and release a low growl, which makes her squeak, just like the omega she is.
I turn back to Grace. “We need to talk.”
“Not tonight.” She glances past me and to where Raine is sitting. “We’ll talk another time. It’ll need to be when neither of us is with a date.”
“She’s...”
“Your fiancé,” she finishes.
