Chapter 20 #2

I sigh, rolling my eyes. “When Tucker brought me in for questioning, he smelled one of your scents on me. Then it clicked for him that one of you is his Alpha, he just didn’t know who. That's why he came into the shop. To smell you.”

Will looks to Tucker again. The poor Omega looks like he’s seconds from puking.

“You booked an appointment for a car that was fine, so you could come here and smell me to see if I was your scent match?”

“Uh, yeah, pretty much.” Tucker rubs the back of his neck again.

“I thought you were a fucking weido,” Will says. “Glad to know I was right.”

Tucker’s shoulders deflate.

“Hey.” I step up to him and poke him in the chest. “Be nice to my Omega.”

Will lifts a brow. “Your Omega, huh?” Will chuckles, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me to him.

“Yes. I found him and I’m going to keep him.”

“You and your strays, Little Rabbit,” he growls low, dipping down for a kiss.

I moan into his mouth, my body heating. Sadly, the kiss is over far too soon.

“So, Nick’s other scent match, huh?” Will asks, looking over at Tucker. “He knows?”

“Not yet.” Tucker shakes his head.

“He’s going to lose his fucking mind,” Will groans, putting his forehead to mine. “Little Rabbit, what am I gonna do with you? Always causing trouble.”

“I call it keeping-life-from-getting-too-boring.” I wave him off.

“The two of you were holding hands. Is something going on between you, too?”

“Not yet,” I tell him. “But I’d be lying if I didn’t say I like the guy. I mean, look at him.” I wave a hand at Tucker. “He’s just so cute! You see him and think he’s some big asshole cop, but really he’s just a nervous wreck, who is a real sweetheart.”

Tucker’s cheeks blaze red.

“See!” I point. “He even blushes.”

Will chuckles as Tucker groans. “So you like the Omega?”

“I do.”

“And he’s Nick’s scent match?”

“He is.”

“Do you want him to join the pack?”

“I’m hoping it’s where it leads to, yes,” I tell him.

“I’m asking your permission to date your Omega,” Tucker interjects.

“I like Nova. She’s funny, sweet, and makes me laugh.

I’d like to see where things go. I’m not after her Alpha, but I’d be happy if she’d let me share him.

Everything changed for me the moment I found out my scent match is one of you.

I knew that I wouldn’t ever be able to put any of you behind bars, and I’d never be able to live with myself if someone else did.

The station has let the case die before, I was the one who tried to bring it back to life.

Honestly, give it a few weeks and everyone will forget about the Mall Bandits. ”

“Fucking hate that name,” Will grumbles. “They couldn’t come up with something better?”

Tucker chuckles. “Yeah, I thought that too.”

Will nods, stepping away from me and over to Tucker. Tucker holds his ground, but I can tell he’s nervous.

“Here’s the deal, Omega. I’ll let you date my Omega. To prove yourself, maybe even let you into my pack. But know this, you betray us? It will be the last thing you ever do. Understand?”

Tucker swallows hard and nods. “I understand.”

“Treat her good. And don’t fucking hog her,” Will warns.

“Just like that? You’re going to let me date your woman?” Tucker’s brows furrow.

“Oh, don’t get me wrong,” Will laughs. “If you weren’t Nick’s scent match, there would be no way in hell I’d let you get anywhere near my Omega.

But I understand scent bonds and how powerful they can be.

It’s not going to be easy, though. Nick is a fucking asshole, and the only reason why he still has his dick is because Ian threatened him.

Nova and Nick have this fucked up love-hate thing going on and she gets off on it.

It doesn't mean I like how my brother treats her sometimes. She’s a woman and his scent match.

You’re a man,” Will chuckles. “I don’t even think Nick likes men. ”

Tucker’s face pales.

“Don’t let him scare you,” I tell Tucker. “A scent bond trumps everything. It makes everyone a little bi, depending on who your mate is. You will be fine.”

“He’s not homophobic, is he?” Tucker asks, looking between us. “I’m not in any danger for liking men, am I?”

“No,” Will snorts. “We don’t care about the gender people choose to like. Love is love. It’s not your sexuality I’m worried about. He could see past that because of the bond. It’s the fact you're a cop. Nick hates cops.”

“Fuck,” Tucker whispers, his worried eyes finding mine.

“Let’s worry about that later, okay? You won over one Alpha. Now, Ian.”

Will barks out a laugh. “Oh my sweet, sweet Omega. You really did wake up and choose violence today, didn’t you?”

“Maybe.” I bite my lower lip.

“My naughty girl.” Will grips my chin and kisses me until my toes curl. “Be a good girl, okay?”

“Me? Good?” I snort. “You do know who you’re talking to, right?”

“Sorry, how could I ever forget?” he chuckles, nipping at my lip. “Now, go. And good luck.” He looks at Tucker. “You’re gonna need it.”

***

“I don’t wanna go in,” Tucker whines, staring at the bakery before turning to me. “He’s going to kill me. It’s not even Nick I’m afraid of. That fucker in there is nuts. I can see it in his eyes, he’s crazy.”

I roll my lips together, trying not to laugh, because he’s not wrong. Ian comes off as a sweet, silly guy, but spend some time around him and you’ll notice there are a few screws loose. But that just makes me love him even more.

“Maybe just a little,” I say, holding up my pointer finger and thumb.

“Fuck me,” Tucker groans, leaning his head against the steering wheel.

“Hey, if everything goes well, who knows. Maybe that can happen sooner rather than later,” I offer helpfully. “Something to look forward to.”

Tucker rolls his head to the side and raises a brow. “What?” I ask.

He shakes his head. “Let’s get in there before I lose my nerve and go home to hide in my nest for another week.”

He gets out of the car and I follow after him. “Breathe. Everything is going to be okay. I have Ian wrapped around my little finger. He loves me. If it will make me happy, I know he will be on board. He just might piss on me a little.”

“What?” Tucker looks at me, horrified.

“Oh my god, not literally.” I roll my eyes. “I mean that he is very possessive of me. Like, obsessed. More so than you, if you can believe that.” I grin. “He’s going to puff out his chest and beat it like a gorilla.”

“Really?” His brows furrow.

“Again, not literally.” I stare at him blankly.

“Oh.”

“Just don’t show any weakness, he can smell fear.”

“It sounds like you’re dragging me into the lion’s den.”

I grab his hand and pull him towards the door. “I mean, I kind of am, when you think about it.”

The bell chimes, and I look over to see Ian's head pop up. He has a big smile on his face when he sees me and my heart skips a beat. Then he notices Tucker, and frowns. When his gaze drop to our hands, I see the murder in his eyes instantly.

Damn it, Nova. Stop holding the damn guy’s hand. I’m gonna get us both killed.

Ian lets out a terrifying growl and the next thing I know, he’s jumping over the counter and storming toward us. “My fucking Omega!”

“Oh, fuck.” Yeah, today just might be the very day we die. Well, it was nice while it lasted. Sorry, Tucker, I guess we’re going down together.
