Chapter 9 Ollie

Ollie

“Here,” Kane says, handing me his phone. “Give me your number.”

We’d both washed up in the small bathroom and freshened our clothes before we prepared to say goodbye. We forced ourselves not to touch because I want more, and I’m pretty sure I can push him further.

Now that I’m out of the haze of pleasure, I have a chance to really look at who I’m with.

I take his phone and quickly add my details, still not sure if it’s a good idea.

“I’ll send you a message about our date.”

“I really don’t like drawing attention to myself,” I say. Or more like, I don’t want Timber to know that I know Kane.

“Don’t worry, we’ll keep it private. I’ll take us somewhere where they can’t snap photos of us.”

If someone has a photo of my face and Kane shows it to Timber, it’s going to be a shitshow. I don’t want to lie to Timber any more than I already am. How am I supposed to know if Kane will keep my secret?

If they really are enemies, I might be safe, but I can’t risk being near him again.

“How far away is the date?” I ask, eyeing him up.

“About two weeks. You’ll have plenty of time to prepare.”

I bite my lip piercing, tugging it like I do when I’m nervous.

Kane cups my cheek, stroking my lower lip with his strong thumb.

“Let me kiss you goodbye,” he murmurs.

I relax as he wraps his arms around me, pressing his nose against my neck. The way my alpha scent marks me makes my omega side flutter with joy. I tip my head back, and he leans down to me, capturing my lips with a moan, showing me he likes it just as much as I do.

Softening into his hold, I let him take me and gently pull me against his body. I lift onto my tiptoes and rub against him, making sure he’ll walk out smelling like maple syrup.

“What about those registration forms you mentioned?” I ask as I drop back to my heels.

He stiffens. “Ah, you heard that, did you?”

“I wasn’t that out of it. You better not register me as your omega.”

“Well, it’s a joint process,” he says while avoiding my eyes, and I smirk as I pull away from him.

“We’ve literally just met. I think you’ve licked my pussy more than we’ve actually talked.”

Kane groans as he dips back in for another kiss, and he suddenly sweeps his jacket over my head. “Here, wear this.”

“What are you doing?” I ask.

“I’m hiding you. We don’t know what kind of people are in the waiting room. The number of times I’ve ended up in pictures and videos when I’m trying to be low key is frustrating.” He kisses the top of my head. “I don’t want you getting caught up in it. It’s my job as your alpha to protect you.”

As soon as the word alpha drops from his lips, more perfume curls around us.

He kisses me again as he says it, and I’m suddenly swept up in him. We can’t stop kissing, like we keep saying goodbye over and over again.

Kane pulls back, and he looks just as awestruck as me. But he snaps us both out of it before we fall back onto the bed.

“Besides, you’re basically helping me, too. If I’m going around smelling of omega, hopefully other omegas will see I’m taken.”

I laugh because I know it’s just noise. One, there’s no way my scent will hang around for that long.

And two, Kane is an alpha that omegas will never stop thirsting over.

It’s another reason I should stay away from him.

I’m already about eighty-five percent sure I’m going to end up losing sleep over him as well as the lovely Timber Holtz.

“You have to promise to stay in touch. I want to get to know you.” Kane sighs as he kisses my neck again. I’m never going to forget this scent.

If I tell him ‘me too,’ how are things going to change? Could I ask Timber to take me to a game to see Kane, and get my horniness revved up to a million? If I’m breaking through my suppressants and perfuming around Kane like this already, how will I react to seeing them together?

“Will you promise me?” Kane asks, drawing close, holding my gaze. “Promise me, Ollie,” he says. “Tell me you’ll come back to me.”

I don’t have any defense against him. He looks so sincere that it shakes my heart. I feel like a different person with him. I’m not trapped in the box of freaking horniness because my pussy is the key, and he did a damn good job opening it.

I give him a brief nod because I’d deeply love to see him again, but paying off Luke’s hospital bills is more important.

So I’m already plotting a way to get out of the date.

According to Timber’s schedule, they’ll be away for most of the week before the date, so maybe I can make up an excuse as we get closer to it.

“If you break that promise, I’ll come and find you. I swear.” His voice is deep as he vowed something I didn’t realize I needed to hear.

He scoops me into another kiss just before we leave the room, pulling back to give me a smile that says ‘mine’.
