CHAPTER THREE

THATCHER

Dustin’s being bull headed. He still loves her. But his anger causes him to lash out at her. I understand. She accused him of cheating in front of the entire school. Nothing about their talk was private when that was done. I was disappointed in Harper. However, I dug deeper.

I remember standing outside the girls locker room. As each cheer leader exits. They smile and say, “Hi alpha.”

I smirk and wave until the one cheerleader I’m looking for walks out.

“Sarah come here,” I order.

Her brows raise. “Hello alpha.”

“I’ll get straight to the point. I’m sure you’re aware Harper and Dustin broke up?”

“Yes, the rumor is all over the school,” she says in a sugary sweet tone like she cares.

“You told Harper Dustin helped you through your heat?”

Her gaze moves to the floor. “No, she overheard me and my friends talking.”

“And someone in your petty circle recorded her?”

“Yes, alpha.” Her bitter scent surrounds us.

I choke down a cough. “Did Dustin help you through your heat?”

She’s silent for a beat then sighs. “No.”

I step closer. “That was low, Sarah, even for you.”

“She had what I wanted,” she grits out.

“Now she doesn’t. Are you happy with yourself?”

She meets my gaze through her long dark thick lashes. “Yeah.”

I flash a devilish smirk. “Get on your knees, omega.”

“No,” she cries out as she drops to her knees.

“You’ll stay on your knees for the entire basketball game. You can think about how you destroyed Dustin and Harper’s relationship.”

“Ugh,” she cries.

“Hi Thatcher,” a beta says bringing me back from the memory.

“Hello,” I reply as I approach the huge mahogany library double doors.

As an alpha athlete it’s normal to get tons of attention. But sometimes you just want it from your omega. Your mate.

Could Sawyer be right? Is Harper our mate?

I fall into a wooden chair at a large wooden table and toss my backpack on it. Rubbing my brow, I squeeze my eyes shut briefly. We all handled being away from Harper differently.

I’m upset with her for accusing Dustin before talking it over. So I understand why Dustin’s angry. She let one omega sway her thoughts. She should’ve stood by him until they talked.

Archer and Dustin want to look for an omega for our pack. Honestly, I don’t want to do that. I’ve always wanted Harper. I’m torn. Do I make Harper suffer for listening to Sarah? Or do I go after Harper?

I know for certain I’m not down for looking for a new omega.
