Chapter Thirty-Five
Amelie
I’ve been so busy over the last couple of weeks that it’s been a good excuse to avoid Debbie.
I understand that she probably has a really good reason behind what she did, but if I’m being honest I’m hurt.
Hurt that she gave me up, that she gave up Bex, and that we never had the chance to grow up together.
She also has no idea what Laura did to me and it was all for what, to save her own ass?
I have all these mixed emotions that I need to work through before I can face her.
It’s so hard to do that when we have Harold still MIA, this whole trafficking business to shut down, graduation and organising The Order being set up in Australia.
The board thought it was a great idea, so we’ve been meeting regularly to also get the ball rolling with that.
Add in spending time with my family while they’re here, and the guys, and once again I’m mentally and physically run ragged.
Fuck my life sometimes. What I wouldn’t give right this second to be that na?ve girl who thought it was funny to let her friends drug her teacher. She had no care in the damn world.
“What are you thinking about?” Slate asks, bringing me back to reality.
We’re in music, and the end of the year event is coming up.
It’s an R the advanced students all are. Since I only need to do the bare minimum, I’m only required to do a solo and one duet.
“We can start with the duet, I have my solo down.”
I went with ‘I bring me’ by Star Cast. I started watching Empire with Aadi before I came to the UK.
He continued to watch it and gave me updates, until I got my bloody phone privileges back and we could watch it together via facetime.
When Star started, we added that to the shows we watched, too.
Aadi is obsessed with the lead in that show.
One of Slate's songs is ‘All of me’ by John Legend. The teacher said as long as the artist themselves fell somewhere in the R she really is crap at her job.
I know I could get it myself, but it’s the principle.
“She’s horny. Desperately so because she even propositioned Baxter. Times are bad.”
Kalen laughs and even Onyx smirks.
“Oh my god, I could totally set you—” Elsie doesn’t get to finish her sentence before Adrianne is shutting her down.
“Nope.”
“But why not?”
“Because your taste in men is questionable,” Kalen offers. “Have you seen his nipples?”
“There is nothing wrong with his nipples!” Elsie cries, trying to defend Jasper.
“These are normal nipples,” Kalen protests, lifting up his shirt revealing his extremely toned body. I don’t think that I’ll ever get sick of seeing it. He notices me staring, smiles at me and winks. Bloody asshole.
“Want to come and watch me train today? I have my last swim meet just before graduation and Coach wants me to get some extra hours in the pool.”
“Will you be wearing those tight little speedos?” I ask, and he nods.
“Okay, I’ll come.”
“Do you think Chelsea would want to come and watch?”
“If you ask her, she wouldn’t miss it.”
Kalen whoops and pulls out his phone. It’s cute that he and Chelsea talk all the time.
I’m so grateful that she loves him, because he is a lot to handle.
The best thing about Chelsea is that she can see what special treatment and attention individuals need, and she gives it to them.
She knows Kalen needs love and praise, so she lavishes it on him.
She treats him differently to Smalls, because he doesn’t require validation, but she loves them both the same.
My phone vibrates against me. At this point I’ve stopped trying to hide it. I need it for The Order, and Monty can deal with any teacher who has an issue. It’s an unknown number but I answer it anyway.
“Hello?” I say cautiously. I’ve been waiting for an evil call from Harold. I possibly watch way too many movies that have set off my imagination.
“Amelie?” The woman questions.
“Speaking.”
“Please don’t hang up!” She cries in a rush. “I really want to talk to you.”
“Debbie?” I check.
“Yes. Please. Camilla asked me to give you space but it’s important. I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t. I have information that may help your search.”
