Chapter Twenty-Five #2
“Let’s get the fuck outta here. Knuckles, you clean up and get ready for today.
We’ll be in the common room waitin’ for the guests of the hour to show up.
Does she know what’s gonna happen today?
” Rooster asks me, watching as I hand the gun over to Omen to deal with while Seth, Eric, and Kurt make their way in the cell to deal with the bodies.
“As far as I can tell she has no clue. My only concern is how she’ll feel once she sees them. Doc will be here today, yeah?” I return, leaving my cut hanging on the wall outside the cells to make my way to the shower.
“He’ll be ready. He’s talked to Dr. Matthews already and knows everythin’ about Janessa’s case,” Rooster assures me as I leave everyone standing behind me and strip to get in the shower so I can go get my woman and son.
***
“T hey’re here,” Tease informs me as we sit at a table with Janessa in the shade so Kaden can nap in the playpen right behind us. “You ready for this to go down?”
“I’m ready. You got my back?” I return, turning to face my cousin.
“Always.”
Without another word Tease stands from the table and grabs his beer.
He walks over toward the back door of the clubhouse and waits just outside it.
I turn to face Janessa as she works on eating the food on her plate.
Reaching out, I grab her hands and hold them in mine so she doesn’t leave me once she realizes what I’m about to do here today in front of everyone.
“Need you to trust me, Little Fighter. I’m about to deal with the last group of people to cause you problems. By the time I’m done with them, they won’t have anythin’ left to their name and will never come near our family for any reason again,” I tell my girl as she smiles across the table at me.
“I always trust you, Micah. What’s going on?” she asks me, not taking her eyes off me so she doesn’t see who just entered the backyard.
“I’m about to ruin your parents’ lives. They’ve done nothin’ but treat you like shit and make you feel less than you are.
Today, they realize exactly who I am and what this club is capable of.
Sit here and don’t come closer to the situation no matter what you see or hear,” I tell her, standing from my seat and leaning over to kiss her deeply.
“I’ll stay here,” she says as Marie comes over and sits next to her.
Walking to the back door, I wait for Aaron and Joseph to step aside.
The second they see me, both men move and I’m face-to-face with Janessa’s parents as they judge everything around them with their noses in the air as if they’re better than the rest of us.
I can’t stand the type of people they are.
“So this is where our daughter has been choosing to spend her time,” Janessa's mother says, looking at each of us. “You’re all nothing more than a bunch of children playing pretend. Poor. Pathetic. Vile. Worthless. . .”
“Enough!” I shout out, cutting her bitch of a mother off and causing her to snap her head in my direction.
“You’re so fuckin’ far out of your league right now and you don’t have the first clue.
We aren’t poor. In fact, we have more money than your husband and you combined.
I have more money than you do on my own.
You’re also the pathetic ones with how you treat your daughter and the way you chose to talk about my son.
An innocent baby who has done absolutely nothin’ wrong in his life.
Worthless? Nah. We do more for the world and people around us than you’ve ever thought of doin’ by signin’ your checks at overpriced so-called charity events where the money doesn’t actually go where it’s supposed to.
Vile. Again, that would be you. We help everyone in need while you look down your nose at those you believe are inferior to you. ”
“You can’t talk to me like that!” Mrs. Burns says, stomping her foot in the grass like a petulant child throwing a tantrum.
“I can talk to you anyway I please. You’re in my house now.
Surrounded by men and women who would give their lives to protect your daughter.
A daughter you disowned for havin’ a child out of wedlock when you didn’t know the first clue about the situation.
Someone you forced to remain with a man who beat her daily, put her in the hospital more than once, and tried to rape her.
You sided with him and blamed her for everythin’ even seein’ the evidence of his attacks on her once flawless skin.
The scars she carries on a daily basis are your fault because you’d rather have money in your pockets instead of protectin’ your own flesh and blood.
Somethin’ no one here around you would do.
So, I’ve had my friend do a little diggin’ and he’s found some interestin’ information,” I say, knowing I’m about to destroy this bitch as she glares in Janessa’s direction.
“That little whore isn’t my daughter. I refuse to acknowledge someone who has sex before marriage and gets pregnant with a bastard. She should have had an abortion and taken Roger back like we told her to,” Mrs. Burns says as a blur flashes by me.
Before anyone can react, Janessa stops in front of her mother and I watch as she slaps her so hard, Mrs. Burns head whips to the side and her sunglasses fly off of her face.
When the bitch goes to slap her daughter back, I step in and put myself between the two women so my Little Fighter can say her piece and we can end this shit with her parents once and for all.
“My child is not a damn bastard. He has a dad who loves him more than life itself. Someone who would give the both of us everything we could ever want or need and not think twice about it. He’s the man I love and have given my heart to even when I didn’t want to.
A man who respects me and gives me the space to make my own choices and live my life the way I choose to.
Not someone who needs to control every aspect because the only concern is reputation and money.
You’re not a mother in any sense of the word.
You are a control freak who only values those in your life who add to it.
That’s why Nicole is so precious to you.
She does everything you ask and you bail her out without hesitation.
The perfect entitled, spoiled princess you should be ashamed of.
Instead you support her drug habit and give her whatever she wants.
Fuck you!” Janessa says, her voice loud enough for everyone in the yard to hear without trying as she steps up to my back and places a hand on my shoulder.
“Jan . . .,” Mrs. Burns begins to speak until Janessa cuts her off.
“Save your fucking breath. I don’t want to hear anything you have to say.
You’re a horrible mother and I’m glad you want nothing to do with me ever again.
I would never be around someone who chooses the things you do and puts your own child’s safety in danger just to cause a merger between families that benefits no one but you.
Micah, get them the fuck outta my sight before I leave and don’t return,” she says, as I pull her to my side and Brick steps up next to us.
“That’s not a problem, Janessa. Their ride is here for them and will show in in just a second.
See, they have a problem takin’ bribes from clients and have tried to bribe several judges and a senator to get what they want.
We have evidence of all their crimes and they’ll be goin’ to jail.
Plus, they gave Roger and his parents money twice when you were put in the hospital.
I’m guessin’ the beatin’ you got those times had somethin’ to do with them and somethin’ you had done to them,” Brick states, his voice hard and cold as Janessa sucks in a deep breath and her body starts trembling in my arms.
This isn’t something she knew anything about and is shocked to say the least.
“Are you fucking kidding me!” Aaron explodes walking up next to his sister and wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “Don’t ever fucking contact me again for any reason. You’re fucking dead to me.”
“The same goes for me,” Daniel adds, stepping behind his sister with Joseph at his side.
“I agree with them. You’re no longer our parents and only have Nicole to rely on moving forward.
I hope she gives you what you want and need because you’re done.
No money, visits, or anything else from here on out.
Fuck both of you,” Joseph adds in his opinion on the situation as I watch Mrs. Burns’ face pale as she realizes how much trouble she’s in and what’s about to happen.
“You have no evidence because nothing like that ever happened,” she finally lies. “Boys, you can’t disown us. We’re your parents!”
“No. You’re our sperm donor and an incubator.
Parents don’t treat their children the way you have Janessa.
This is us standing up for our sister because she is a loving, funny, smart, capable, and caring person.
You’ll never find anyone else like her in the world and it’s you who lost out on knowing what a truly amazing person she is,” Aaron shouts in his mom’s face before Homicide pulls him back.
I turn Janessa toward me and get down on one knee knowing this is going to piss her parents off even more. Looking up at her, I take her hands in mine and press a kiss against the back of them.
“Janessa, my Little Fighter, I love you more than I ever thought possible. You came into my life and stole my heart and soul. For months, I fought what I felt for you because everyone has let me down or left for one reason or another and I didn’t want that from you.
You have shown me unconditional love, stood by my side when I needed you the most, and given me two of the best gifts anyone could ask for.
Will you do me the honor of bein’ my ol’ lady and wife?
” I ask her, watching as silent tears slide down her face and land on the ground between us.
“Yes, Micah. I love you so damn much and want to spend the rest of our lives raising our children and showing you the love you deserve to experience every single day,” she answers, as I pull out the ring and slide it on her finger.
“I don’t accept this. You will not marry this man, Janessa,” Mrs. Burns says, stomping her foot once again with no impact on the grass her heel sinks into.
“I really don’t give a fuck what you think, Mrs. Burns. You’re nothing to me and have no impact on my life,” Janessa says, never taking her attention off me as I stand and pull her into my arms, pressing my lips against hers and giving her a deep kiss as if no one’s watching us.
By the time I pull back from my girl, the cops have made an appearance and are arresting Mr. and Mrs. Burns.
They’re both yelling and shouting to be released while insinuating that Janessa will pay for this.
She honestly had nothing to do with it so why they’d even attempt to threaten her makes zero sense.
When the chaos finally dies down, Janessa and I are surrounded by our family.
They all offer congratulations with hugs.
Marie and the other ol’ ladies of the club pull Janessa away to start talking about the wedding as I take the box Tease ran up to my room to get.
Yeah, I forgot that part as I walk over and slide Janessa’s new rag over her shoulders before kissing her again.
I’ll never get enough of this woman in my arms whether we’re simply sitting watching a movie together, sleeping in bed, or wherever else we are.
These are the best moments of my day and I’ll feel lucky for the rest of my life to experience this with her and our children.
