Chapter 14
I spotted Koda as soon as he entered the ballroom, and I pretended I didn’t see him, but there was no way to miss him.
The moment Koda stepped through the door, the atmosphere changed, at least for me.
He wore a black shirt with black pants and a gold watch on his wrist. The sneakers he wore were gold and black, and I loved that he matched the theme of the party.
His hair and beard looked freshly cut, and I wanted to rub my fingers through it.
I noticed other women watching him as he spoke to people, but it all seemed professional.
He walked away from a few of them that got too close to him.
I also saw the way he watched me when I was talking to some guy named Mark.
Mark was cute and made me laugh, but he tried too hard to get my phone number even after I told him no.
I was grateful that Diamond had come over and interrupted the conversation.
From the look on Koda’s face, shit had potential to go wrong, and that wouldn’t have been a good look for either of us.
I was nervous and anxious about talking to Koda, but I wasn’t going to be the one to initiate a conversation. I wasn’t sure if not responding to him was enough for him to write me off, and that was what I was afraid of.
“I know we aren’t necessarily in the best space, but I’m going to need you to keep your hands to yourself when you are kee-keeing with other men,” Koda said, knocking me out of my thoughts.
“What are you talking about?” I was genuinely confused.
We were on the elevator on the way to his penthouse. I was excited to see what else he got me. I still had some apples left over from the last time he gave me some. I might have to make an apple pie or something to get rid of some before they went bad.
“I’m talking about the way you touched that man’s arm when he had you grinning and shit.” There was a slight touch of anger in his voice, but I wasn’t bothered.
“I didn’t even realize I did that, to be honest. I apologize if it made you feel a way.”
The elevator door opened before he got a chance to respond. He held my basket, then reached for my hand.
When we entered his suite, I took my shoes off and went over to the couch. The curtains were open, so I was able to look out at the ocean. I would never be able to get over the view. I would love to wake up to the beach every day.
Koda took off his sneakers and put the basket on the table, then walked over to me.
“You want anything to drink?” he asked as he stood in front of me.
“No, I’m good.”
He nodded, then sat next to me.
“Let me start by saying that I apologize for what happened on our date. I know I can’t control other people’s actions, but I didn’t like that shit.
I can’t change my past, and I can’t guarantee it won’t be another hating ass wench, but I can promise you that I’m not on shit anymore.
Anything anyone says to you would be old news or straight lies.
I ain’t ever felt like this about anyone before, Avalon.
I won’t hurt you, but please don’t hurt me either. ”
I grabbed his hand and held it. I made sure to look him in his eyes.
“I was wrong too. You haven’t given me a single reason to question anything.
I just let some mess get into my head, and since this is the first time I’ve dealt with anyone since Miles died, I thought the best thing would be to run.
I didn’t like it, though. I missed you a lot, and my dad put things into perspective for me. ”
“You’ve been talking to your pops about me?” He smiled, and I couldn’t help but smile with him.
“I have. He wants to meet you when it’s time.
He told me that men change for the women they want to and that I should give you a chance.
I also went to Miles’ gravesite and told him about you.
I realized I had to let him go. Of course, I won’t forget him, but there is room in my heart to love again.
I want that hole in my heart to be filled by you, if you still want it. ”
“Hell yeah, I do. It’s always going to be me and you, baby.
” He leaned over and pecked my lips a couple of times.
When he put a little space between us, he smirked.
“And about that man being all in your face, he’s lucky my brother reminded me of where we were.
I’m not going to lie, Ava, I saw red. You was laughing a little too hard, though. ” He cut his eyes at me.
I laughed and punched his arm. “How you know I wasn’t trying to make you jealous?”
That wasn’t my plan, but I wanted to see what he said. I wasn’t interested in Mark, and I really didn’t realize I touched that man’s arm.
“I don’t think you want to play those types of games with me, Ava. You will not like the outcome.”
Koda was a hotel owner and came from a good family, but something about the way he talked made me think that he would really hurt someone.
I wasn’t trying to find out what he would do, so I would make sure to be more conscious of the things I did.
I wasn’t scared of him, or thought he would do something to me, but I wanted to respect him just like I wanted him to respect me.
“I promise you I wasn’t on no funny shit, and I would never play with you like that. You have been good to me, and I want to keep things like that.”
“That’s all I want too. Can we start on a clean slate?”
“We can.”
I breathed a sigh of relief that we were able to express ourselves and came to an understanding.
“Good. Let me show you your other gift, then we can get more comfortable.” He got up and walked toward the back of the suite.
While he was gone, I sent a message to Diamond since I never got a chance to tell her that I was leaving.
She helped out with the event, so she knew what to do once it was over.
She informed me Jacoby had pretty much been following her around since I introduced them, and I thought it was funny considering what Koda said.
I was sure she would fill me in on everything once the night was over.
In the meantime, I focused on Koda as he reentered the sitting room.
He placed another basket on my lap, and it was bigger than the first one.
I removed the plastic wrapping and pulled the first thing out.
“That’s for you to use when you do events in case you don’t have pockets, or you need to carry some extra stuff,” Koda informed me as I ran my fingers over the burnt orange lettering on the front of a leather fanny pack that had my name on it.
“I love this.” I reached for the next gift, and it was a personalized cup for water.
My name was written the same way as it was on the fanny pack.
I pulled out the rest of the stuff, and there was a personalized tote bag, markers, and a couple of portable chargers.
There was also a couple of bottles of shampoo and conditioner that he told me he’d gotten from the same lady the apples came from. I put the basket to the side and stood.
Koda’s eyes were on me when I stood in front of him. I pulled my dress up a little and straddled his lap. His hands automatically went to my waist.
I leaned forward and placed my lips on his. “Thank you,” I murmured before I kissed him.
“You’re welcome, baby. I just wanted to show you my appreciation for everything. Not just the event, but for taking a chance on me. I want you to know that your heart is safe with me, Avalon. You don’t ever have to worry about anyone breaking that shit.”
“I believe you,” I whispered, then kissed him again.
Our tongues wrestled as I wound my hips against him. His dick pressed into my middle and turned me on even more. I broke the kiss and slid down onto the floor. Koda’s eyes lowered to me as he removed his glasses. Our gazes locked as I pulled his pants down to free his dick.
Precum moistened the head, so I used my finger to rub it in. Using one hand, I jacked his dick from the base up to the head a few times, which caused Koda to hiss.
“Don’t play with that shit, Ava.”
I smirked, then licked the head before taking the whole thing in my mouth. My head bobbed as saliva filled my mouth.
“Shit, Ava.” Koda groaned and gripped the back of my head.
The more Koda moaned and cursed my name, the wetter I got. I used one hand to reach under my dress to play with myself.
“You like that?” I asked Koda before making the head of his dick hit the back of my throat.
“Fuck, hell yeah I like that shit.” His grip tightened as he pushed my head down as far as it could.
I gagged again, then pulled back to focus on just the head. I wrapped my hand around the base and moved my hand up and down as I licked the tip.
My fingers slipped inside of my tunnel, and I moaned.
“You playing in your pussy, baby?” Koda asked.
“Yes,” I moaned.
“Let me see.” He released himself from my mouth and told me to lay back, so I did.
When my back touched the floor, I spread my legs so Koda could see the effect he had on me. After he watched me pleasure myself for a minute, he grabbed my hands.
“We need to take this shit to my room because I’m not trying to get brush burn on my knees.”
We both laughed as he helped me up from the floor. The minute we entered his bedroom, we were both out of our clothes in seconds.
“I need you face down, ass up.” Koda smacked my ass as I walked over to the bed.
As soon as I got in position, Koda was right behind me, then he slowly slid inside of me.
We both moaned at the same time. Koda gripped my hips then proceeded to fuck me from the back until I couldn’t take any more. I came multiple times before Koda came once.
“I’m not done with you yet,” he said before he pushed me onto my back, then made his way right back in between my legs.
After going a few rounds, Koda and I showered and got in his bed.
Diamond had informed me that she took care of everything I would have done, and Koda said his siblings handled things on his end.
I was on my back as Koda rested his head on my breasts.
We both decided to go without clothes after our shower.
It had been a long day, and I was tired, but I also wanted to talk since we didn’t for a couple of days.
“Did you have enough to eat earlier?” Koda asked, then kissed the top of my breast.
My fingers played in his beard, and everything felt right.
“I did. I kinda nibbled on stuff when we were setting up, then I made a plate before it officially started. How about you?”
“Yeah, I’m good. If I get hungry, you got enough for me to eat.” He looked at me and smirked.
Koda had told me that he didn’t eat coochie, but I couldn’t tell. The times he ate mine, he had me climbing the walls.
“If you get hungry for real, I’ll cook you something.”
He kissed my lips and smiled. “Thanks. Now that we are good, I wanted to ask if you would be my date for my brother’s wedding? It’s in a few months, so you have time to prepare.”
“I’d love to be your date.”
“You didn’t have a choice.” He quickly kissed my lips and put his head back down.
I couldn’t do anything but laugh because there was no point in saying anything else.
The event turned out better than I expected, and Koda and I were back on track. I couldn’t ask for a better day.
