Chapter 16 #2
“I wish the fuck you would bring up that iDrive shit right now. You was already hiding a husband, Xi. I need to check out your spot to make sure you don’t have any other secrets I need to know about. Might be running a trap house or some shit like that. A whole ass queen pin on the low.”
I burst out laughing. “Do I really look like I could be a queen pin?”
“You didn’t look like you could be married to that simp ass muthafucker I beat the brakes off so I’m not assuming shit.”
I left that one alone because I had not one damn argument to present. If he was giving me a chance to right my wrongs, I would take full advantage of the opportunity.
House four and I was starting to believe maybe I wasn’t good at this. Although Oni and Krew had nice things to say about the first three, there wasn’t any real excitement that had me convinced either of these would make the cut.
There was also the small detail that they were looking to get an offer in before the end of next week so she could focus on the new clothing line she was launching.
Oni was a personal stylist and had been creating designs and ideas for a line of men’s and women’s formal clothing.
If there was success with the formal line, she planned on branching off into casualwear as well.
The suit Kove was in last night was from the formal line, so I had no doubt she would be successful. He looked amazing. A lot of that was attributed to him being so fucking fine but the suit added to the blessings God bestowed on him.
She, however, was more excited about discussing the launch of her formalwear with me while we toured the houses than she was with gushing over the properties we visited.
“This is the last one, right?” I was standing in the hallway giving Oni space to view the main bedroom. It was absolutely stunning because the first floor placement allowed for thirty foot ceilings and an open view of the infinity pool.
Krew locked his arms over his chest and I admired how handsome he was when I turned my eyes on him.
Russet colored skin, waves that collectively created a pattern on his head, and his face displayed a mustache and goatee.
He was a large man, tall and wide, built like a football player and littered with tattoos.
If the very sexy and demanding basketball player I was currently stupid for didn’t have my attention, I could see crushing over Krew Troy.
“Yes, one more. Maybe I should gather a list of other potential houses that meet the metrics you requested.”
He smirked, and well shit, this man was definitely noteworthy. “Nah, we’ll be putting an offer on this one.”
I frowned. “I don’t think she likes it.”
“She does. Oni is stubborn as hell but she’s also an easy read.”
“Maybe for you because I’m not getting anything from her that said she likes this house.”
“The reason she wanted to view this one last is because it’s the first one she fell in love with. I told her we could just see this one and she refused, adding the other three to prove me wrong. This is the one she wants, she’s playing that shit down because it means me being right.”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
He smirked. “She’s about to tell you all the shit she didn’t like about the first three, then compare them to this one to justify her decision, but the decision was made before we pulled up. I knew as soon as she looked at the pictures of this one on the site that it’s what she wanted.”
Not even two seconds later, Oni stepped into the hallway with her brows pinched. “Babe, the main room at the first house was kinda small compared to this one, wasn’t it?”
“About the same, O,” he stated nonchalantly.
She shook her head. “I don’t think so. Maybe it’s the layout.” She turned to me. “Do you think this one is larger than the other three? And I feel like those didn’t have enough yard for our son to play in. It was more pool than grass.”
She walked up to Krew and hugged his waist. “I like the other ones but I think this one has more of what we wanted.”
“I didn’t want shit. This was all your idea, O. I’m good with whatever you decide.” His tone was laced with amusement and she smiled.
“But do you like this one, because if not…”
“I like the basement of the second one. Isn’t that the one with the indoor court? That shit will be sweet for when Navy’s at the house.”
I grinned when Oni pouted. “This one has a court too.”
Krew chuckled. “Pick what you want, O. Long as you like that shit I’m cool.”
She had her eyes on me again. “How soon can we put an offer in?”
“Um, I can work on the contract as soon as we’re done and have it sent over in a couple hours if that’s what you want.”
“Yes, let’s do that.” She smiled then stepped away from her husband. “I’m going to look at the yard one more time.”
“Aight, do your thing.”
When she walked away, Krew turned to me. “I told you I know my wife. List price is four point eight. Are there any offers on this one?”
“Not yet. It just hit the market two weeks ago.”
“Aight, offer five. I’m not trying to deal with the fallout if she can’t get this damn house.”
He followed the path Oni had just taken and I did a silent scream and a happy dance. Three percent commission was about to grant me a hundred and fifty thousand on top of what I made from the house Kove purchased.
After Oni took multiple pictures and videos because, according to her, the ones online didn’t do it justice, she and Krew left the house and I promised to have the contract to them before the end of business today.
Kove didn’t say what time he would be coming to get me, only that he would be done with practice by three.
It was just after one so I had time to work on it when I got home.
I moved through the house, shut off all the lights, checked the doors, and let myself out, mentally inventorying the ingredients I had at home.
I placed a delivery order for The Marketplace that would arrive by the time I made the thirty minute drive to my apartment.
I planned on whipping up a batch of s’mores from a new recipe I wanted to try to celebrate my sale while I worked on the contract, because today definitely deserved a celebratory baking session.
