letters 7
My dearest Forest Fay,
As a thank you I have drawn you a picture of my family, which I shall give you in return for my wish. There is Papa, me and Cissy. Have I told you yet that Papa is a schoolmaster in the village school? Cissy is three years younger than me. We are very happy, living in Meadowview Cottage.I have to go to school every day, which I like very much, since Papa teaches there. Do forest fays go to school, too?
Yours Truly,
Little Wren
My dear Little Wren,
I was most pleased by your drawing. It wasn’t half bad. I shall hang it up in my faerie cave and look at it every day. We don’t have school, alas. We forest fays live a very solitary life… but your letters give me pleasure. Tell me more about your world—it makes me forget my own troubles.
Your obedient servant,
Fenn
P.S. I have enclosed the ribbon for your sister in ‘amaranthine’ and stockings for you—in pomona green.
