Chapter 16 #2
Her fingers stroke my hair, a calming smile faint on her lips. “I’ll maybe tell you in the morning, but right now, I think you need to find your way back inside of me.”
My fingers trail down her body to find her pussy that is wet again. She’s trying to distract me, and it’s working.
Waking up when Lexi begins to stir in my arms, I blink my eyes to see the sun peeking through the curtains. We kept true to our suggestion of waking in the night and I spooned her from behind. Now I have every intention of having lazy morning sex with her.
She rolls out of my hold, and I reach to yank her back but fail.
“Holden.” She shoos me away. “I need breakfast, and I’m sure there is a carnage of wine over your table.”
I rub my face to wake up. “Forgot about that.”
She’s already out of bed and heads directly to my closet to get lost in, only to return a few seconds later, pulling on one of my old Spinners shirts, and it drowns her but is still hot as hell.
“We can come back to bed after breakfast. Or… we could actually do something non-bed related. I was thinking we could head to the ice rink.”
My face puzzles. “I’m always up for the rink. Didn’t really expect you to say that, though.”
She splays out her hands. “I’m full of surprises.”
That she is. “Give me a few minutes and I’ll be downstairs.”
“I’ll grab the toaster pastries that are full of artificial goodness. If you have those weird cinnamon ones, then I’ll be concerned.”
I pretend to be serious. “That’s a classic.”
“Or we can just pick something up at Jolly Joe’s.”
“Good plan,” I agree.
It’s a few minutes later when I arrive downstairs to find Lexi still in my shirt, dancing around the kitchen as she puts dishes away from last night. I don’t think she realizes I’m there as she’s belting out George Michaels’ “Father Figure.”
Clearing my throat, she startles. “Have some daddy scenarios that we need to talk about?”
It’s not even nine and we’re already into our daily rhythm of back and forth.
Lexi waves a finger at me. “Hmm, I don’t think so. But I’m all for some chains and floggers.”
My eyes grow bold. “Shut up. No seriously, shut up. Every time I know you’re serious about your sexual wishes, it only makes me become more curious about what I can do with you.”
She salutes me. “Yes, sir.”
“Seriously, get in the car in ten minutes, otherwise we have no hope of leaving this house.” I’m growing frustrated with her lack of inhibitions, purely because I want to instantly put them into practice.
Her face goes neutral. “Agreed.”
We make it out of the house and pick up bagels and coffees on our way to the rink. I wasn’t really expecting her to suggest this, but I’m game.
Lake Spark is lucky that the Spinners’ training center here also has a small public rink. It’s where Lori has her lessons. Fortunately, it’s not busy either, considering it’s a Saturday. We should probably give it an hour or two before it picks up.
Lexi and I tie our skates on, and I follow her onto the ice.
“Here we go. Non-inappropriate activities here we come,” I say.
She throws me a glare.
And soon I know why.
Lexi skates away, and she doesn’t have one wobble.
Instead, her speed picks up and then her body circles before skating more.
It seems as though she’s warming up. I just slowly skate in observation.
Then stop in amazement when she jumps off the ice in a turn.
It doesn’t stop. Leg up, twirls, another turn in the air.
No fucking way. She’s not at all an amateur.
I give up on skating since I much prefer the show. She slows down with a smile and skates around me as if I’m a target.
“What’s the story, Lexi? I’ve heard mention that you used to skate. Yet, this talent you still seem to have, you did nothing with it.”
Lexi shrugs and tries not to look at me. “It’s nothing. Besides I gave up when I was a teenager. My mother wasn’t a fan. Felt I’d be better off going to college.”
“And your dad?”
“He wanted to go all out on the skating front.”
She brings her leg up while her body lines into an L shape. “And me? I guess fate ran its course.”
I take a few glides, and she skates away a little, as if I need to chase her, and I do. But then we both reach out and grab one another’s arms which knocks us to the ice. Nobody is hurt, though, and we burst out laughing.
We lie on our backs and stay there while our hysteria fades away. Staring up, we just freeze, but she reaches out her finger and invites me to link with mine.
“You still have skills,” I point out.
Lexi sighs. “I still practice sometimes for the old feeling. It’s been a while, though.”
“And how does it feel?”
“Liberating.” She sounds at peace.
My head angles to study her face that looks content. “How come you haven’t watched Lori, out of curiosity? She loves figure skating.”
Lexi meets my gaze and hesitates. “Simple. I wasn’t sure how much she hated her new houseguest and didn’t want another reason for her to.”
Creases form on my forehead. “That’s a silly reason.”
She shakes her head in disagreement. “Also… when you’re her age, the last thing you want is for someone to steal your limelight. Skating is her thing, so let her shine in it. I didn’t want to take that away.”
My entire body wilts from her thoughtfulness and the way she ignites wants and feelings that I imagined were always locked away.
I don’t care who is watching or the feeling of ice on the other side of my clothes. I lean on my side and kiss her softly on the lips then look down at her.
“You keep surprising me. In every best possible way. I’m not sure what to do.”
She lifts her head up to kiss me once more. “Me neither.”
We both lie back down, splayed out like two octopuses. Not a concern in the world that a few other skaters are circling the rink.
It’s a minute of our hands laced and relaxing breathing as we stare at the ceiling.
Until Lexi laughs to herself.
“What’s funny?”
“I lied to you.”
My eyes snap in her direction, fear now flooding me. Of course, it’s too good to be true.
But her smile, it’s coy yet promising.
“What did you lie about?”
She hurries and scrambles to standing on her skates, and she offers me a hand to yank me up, which is kind of pointless as I’ll just take her back down due to my size. I don’t take her offered arm because I would rather have an answer.
“I didn’t tell you that I know.”
“As in?” I need a clue.
Lexi licks her lips, and her cheeks tighten from a cheeky smile wanting to break free. “I know you turned the water off on purpose, always knew.”
She laughs and skates away. Leaving me sitting on the ice grinning to myself.
Because even from day one, she still stayed.
