EPILOGUE

G rayson stood on the beach with David and Seth, surrounded by ten dogs.

“You know,” Seth said, “we got handed the short end of the stick.”

“Because we’re the only single guys left?” Grayson asked.

David crouched down and scratched Tria behind her ears. “Nah, we got the best job. All we have to do is let the dogs go.”

“Speak for yourself,” Grayson grumbled. He’d been tasked with holding the balloons, which wasn’t easy because of the wind.

Dani, Grayson’s best friend in the whole world, jogged up to them. “It’s almost time.” She held up the bag in her hand, her eyes glittering.

“We should probably get the rings attached,” David said.

Grayson glanced down at the ring on Dani’s finger. The one that wasn’t from him, and his chest tightened.

“Who proposes with ten rings?” Dani asked, securing a ring on Dio’s collar.

“Paige teased Blake that she wanted big to-do, so he went over the top on everything. She’s been on a scavenger hunt all day hunting for clues as to where she’s supposed to go. It’s taken all of us and the wives to pull this off.”

Dani glanced at her own half-carat diamond. “Jeremy didn’t have quite that much fun with my proposal.”

“How did he propose?” Seth asked, trying to catch Nona, who thought this was a game.

Dani just shrugged and took a couple of balloons from Grayson. “He just handed me the ring one night at dinner and proposed.”

Grayson didn’t correct her. She’d called him in tears that night because instead of a proposal, he basically left the ring on the counter and Paige found it. She took it out into the living room where Jeremy had been playing video games and asked him about it.

He didn’t even pause the game. He just said, “You said we were done if we didn’t get married. So, there’s your ring. We can head down to the justice of the peace tomorrow.”

She didn’t put the ring on for three days, and he had the audacity to ask her why she wasn’t wearing it. She put it on eventually but demanded a real wedding, since if Jeremy knew anything about Dani he’d have known that she’d been planning her wedding day since she was five.

Hayden jogged up to them. “It’s time.”

“Oh crap. We’re not ready.” Grayson handed Hayden three of the balloons, and they quickly went about adhering them to what he hoped was the right dog. The balloons spelled out “Marry me?” with a heart balloon on the first and last dog.

Hayden led the way with Grayson, David, and Seth, trying to make sure the dogs stayed in a line. They were mostly successful.

On the beach, Grayson spotted Blake and Paige. Blake had one arm around Paige, and he pointed to the sky with the other. Grayson glanced up and saw a skywriter also popping the question.

Grayson rolled his eyes but couldn’t help his smile.

“This is the most romantic thing in the entire world,” Dani said, her face glowing.

“That it is. I think it’s a little much though.”

“I don’t,” Dani said.

“Of course you don’t. Your wedding is going to be the most over-the-top wedding of the century.”

She bumped him with her hip. “It is not. It’s perfect.”

“Whatever you say.” Then he grinned at her. “I have planned the most epic bachelorette party on the planet though.”

She pointed at Seth, who walked about three feet in front of them. “Unless it involves that man as a stripper, it won’t be all that epic.”

Seth turned and grinned. “I’m definitely available.”

“Absolutely not. I promised her a bachelorette party, not an affair the night before her wedding.” Not that Dani would cheat on Jeremy, but he wouldn’t put it past Seth to try.

Dani always flirted with Seth from the day they met. Though truth be told, he’d rather see her with Seth than Jeremy. That guy was the biggest prick on the planet. But Dani swore she loved him, and that he was different when they were alone.

Grayson didn’t buy it.

They got the dogs to surround Blake and Paige, and all stepped back a little, except Jamie, who was busy taking pictures. Blake got down on one knee and seconds later, Paige squealed out a yes.

Dani wove her arm around Grayson’s back and rested her head on his shoulder. “Definitely the most romantic thing ever.”

Grayson just nodded.

Dani deserved that as well.

But as much as he wanted to, he couldn’t be the guy to give it to her.

Because she was in love with someone else.
