Chapter 16

Blake

“Got it.” Cooper gets back into the driver’s seat, giddy like a kid on Christmas morning.

“Got what?” I laugh, unable to keep the smile off my face.

Tonight is the best night of my life. When I saw Cooper with Luke, I let myself think the worst again. And instead of talking to Cooper like I wanted to, I ran.

It was wrong of me, and that man proved my doubts wrong. I still can’t believe we kissed. We fucking kissed. I was shocked at first, but once it clicked as to what was happening, I grabbed onto him and refused to let go.

I couldn’t get enough of him. His lips on mine was the most addicting thing I’ve ever experienced. His hands on my ass had me ready to cum in my pants.

His smell made my head spin; the way his tongue moved against mine had me wanting more.

I wasn’t the blushing virgin anymore, but a man in love, finally getting his man.

My man. He’s mine. Holy fuck, he’s mine.

Wait, is he mine? He said I was his and he was mine, but does that mean we are dating now? Does one of us need to ask to make it official?

Now is not the time to overthink. I’ll deal with that later.

“These.” He hands me... a carton of eggs?

Closing the door behind him, he buckles up and pulls out of the gas station parking lot.

“Eggs...” I blink down at him, really confused. “Are you hungry or something? I know you're a bottomless pit, but this is really odd.”

The laugh that shakes his body has me smiling through my confusion.

“What?”

“You’ll see.” The look he gives me is pure mischief.

“I don’t think I like that look.” I groan.

“Trust me, you’re going to love this.”

Because I do indeed trust him, I let this man drive me out of town into the middle of nowhere.

“You’re not bringing me out here to murder me, are you?” I question him.

“If I was going to do that, what would I need the eggs for?” he asks, grinning over at me.

“I don’t know. You’re the odd ball here.”

“Yeah, but you like me anyway.” He shoots me a wink, laughing before bringing his attention back to the road.

Yeah, yeah I do.

We start to slow down and my brows rise when he shuts the lights off, while the car is moving.

“Cooper, what is going on?”

“Okay. You need to do as I tell you, okay?” He brings the car to a stop, but keeps the engine running.

“Oh god. You’re not here to kill me, but brought me here to kill someone else, didn't you?” I look out the window to see a few cars lined up. People are mulling around them, their headlights shining out over the hill, the only light around them.

“Nope. No one is dying tonight. But, put this on.” He reaches into the back and pulls out two ski masks.

“Yeah. Because this is making me believe you.” I stare at the mask.

He shoves his own over his head. “Come on.” He laughs.

“If we get arrested, I’m throwing you under the bus, I hope you know that,” I grumble, shoving the mask over my head.

I won’t. I’d hate myself if I did. Knowing me, I’d take all the blame to protect him and I don’t even know what we’re doing.

“We’re not going to get arrested. Well, not if you do as I tell you.”

“Cooper,” I hiss.

“Relax.” He laughs. “Okay, now put half the eggs in your pocket.”

“What?”

“Do it,” he giggles like a damn school girl, opening the carton and shoving some eggs into his pockets.

“What have I gotten myself into?” I mutter, doing what he told me.

“Now, quietly open your car door. Don’t close it. Get out and wait for me.”

“I’m gonna die tonight.” I sigh to myself.

“Hey.” Cooper grips my chin, forcing me to look at him. “I’d never let anything bad happen to you, okay?”

My heart thuds wildly in my chest. It’s such a stupid time for emotion to clog my throat, but it does. Good thing he can’t see me well enough in the dark.

Nodding, he leans in for a quick kiss, grinning wide when he pulls back. “Just so you know, I love kissing you. So, expect more of that. You know, unless it’s too much, then let me know and I’ll hold back.”

“Never hold back with me,” I blurt, cheeks heating as his grin grows.

“Those are dangerous words, Latte Boy.” His grin turns flirtatious, making blood rush to my dick. These boners are becoming wildly inconvenient.

“Let’s go!” Cooper gets out of the car.

“You didn’t even tell me what we’re doing!” I whisper-hiss. “Damn it. Crazy, sexy, wild Golden Boy,” I mutter under my breath, opening my car door.

Cooper makes his way around the car and over to me. “Now, when I tell you to get in the car, get in, okay?”

“Okay.” I groan, knowing I’m going to give in to his bizarre plans without even knowing what's going on. Is this what they mean by ‘love makes you crazy?’ Not the kind of crazy I was expecting. “Wanna tell me what we’re doing now?”

“See that blue truck?” he whispers, pointing.

I look over and see where he’s pointing. It’s the one in the middle, surrounded by three other cars on each side. People are sitting in the back of it. By the looks of it, I think they’re making out.

“Yeah,” I whisper back.

“That guy sitting on the back with his tongue down that girl’s throat is Mickey.”

My stomach stops. “What!” I hiss.

“And these eggs?” He holds one up. “Are meant for him.”

My mouth parts in shock. “No way.”

“Oh yeah.” He chuckles. “We’re egging that motherfucker.”

“Cooper!” I whisper-hiss as he steps a few feet forward.

This man takes an egg and throws the damn thing like he’s tossing a football.

It flies through the air, making a hard thud as it hits the back window of the truck.

“What the fuck?” Comes from the truck’s direction.

Cooper laughs and starts throwing the rest of his eggs. Some hit the ground in front of him, some hit the other cars nearby.

People are shouting, running around, trying to find out what's going on.

“Oh fuck.” Cooper laughs. “Give me your eggs.”

He shoves his hands in my pockets and starts throwing them. I’m too stumped to do anything but watch.

Then Mickey starts heading towards us and I panic. Grabbing the last egg, I throw it, choking on a laugh when I nail him right in the forehead.

“I’m gonna kill you!” he screams.

“Time to go,” Cooper says. “Get in the car.”

I don’t hesitate, ducking back inside the car, closing the door and locking it.

Cooper slides over the front of his car, landing on the other side. He doesn’t even have the car door shut as he puts it in drive and takes off.

“That was fucking amazing!” he whoops, slamming his door shut as we speed down the road.

“I cannot believe we just did that.” I turn in my seat, looking out the back window to see people running after us. “Cooper, what if they follow us?”

“Don’t worry.” He grins over at me, my heart going wild with adrenaline. “I won’t let them catch us.”

“You need to slow down,” I tell him as he takes a sharp turn. “And put your damn seatbelt on before you get yourself killed. I just got you, I’m not ready to lose you already.”

The car goes quiet and the tips of my ears warm at my words.

“Yes, sir.” He quickly puts his belt on. “Whatever my man wants, he gets.”

“You’re ridiculous,” I mutter, chest warming at his words and he laughs.

“How come you didn’t tell me you had a killer aim?” Cooper asks as he slows down, his car melting back into traffic.

“I don’t.”

“I mean, you nailed that fucker right in the forehead. I hope the bastard got egg in his eyes.” He laughs.

“It was pretty funny.” I can't help but smile.

“It felt good, didn’t it?”

“Yeah. It kind of did.”

“Good.” Cooper nods. “He deserved it, and a hell of a lot more.”

Is it weird that I’m falling even harder for this man, because he thought a fun night out would be to egg my bully? It’s making me really want to jump him.

Is it normal for me to be so damn horny? Maybe I should see someone about this.

Cooper turns into the drive-thru at Starbucks. “I know they don’t make your latte exactly how you like it, but our regular place is closed,” he says as he pulls up to the intercom.

“We’re getting coffee? It’s ten at night.”

“Yeah, but our night isn’t over.” He grins. “I’m not nearly done with you, Blake Clark.”

Unable to look at him without smiling like an idiot, I look away.

“Ah, babe? Might wanna take this off before they think we’re robbing the place.” Cooper tugs at the top of the ski mask I forgot I was still wearing.

“Shit.” I laugh, pulling it off and throwing it into the backseat. Cooper does the same, his curly blond hair sticking up all over the place.

We order coffees and their lemon loaf bread.

Instead of driving in the direction of either of our houses, we continue through town and exit the other side, driving back into the country.

“I have a question,” I ask, feeling like a complete idiot.

“Ask away, Latte Boy.” He chuckles.

“What are we?”

“Ah, men? Human? I think? I mean, who knows? We could be aliens. I wouldn’t be surprised.”

“That’s not what I meant.” I groan, knowing I shouldn’t have said anything.

“Then what do you mean?” He frowns.

“What are we? Me and you. Are we dating or...”

He looks at me with surprise. “Well, I sure hope so. I meant it when I said you were mine, and I was yours. I am your boyfriend, you are my boyfriend. Wasn’t it obvious?”

I blink at him a few times. “You’re talking to someone who's never done this before. Excuse me for not feeling confident without the usage of exact words. I’m the kind of person who overthinks things and internally freaks out.”

“Blake Clark, wanna make me the happiest man ever and be my boyfriend?” He grins over at me, taking my hand in his.

I can’t help the stupid smile that takes over my face. “Yeah, I guess so.”

Cooper tosses his head back, laughing like the most joyful man in the world. “I’ll take it.”

I’m grinning like a lovesick fool as we continue to drive. “Where are we going?”

“It’s a nice night. I thought we could enjoy the stars.” He pulls off onto a dirt road. We travel up a hill for a few minutes before turning left and stopping in the middle of an open field.

Cooper parks the car and turns off the lights.
