Chapter 9 #2
“Just asking, but that right there is how I know you won’t fuck this up and you know you won’t either.
When I met Bey, I had a situation and I was in the middle of a transition moment.
I probably should’ve left her alone, but I didn’t.
I made her be my fucking friend, then my girl, and shortly after that my wife.
I had a million moments of uncertainty. A lot happened in a short amount of time, but I knew she was for me.
I had even taken her with me to look at the condo.
We were fresh as hell, but I had her picking where she assumed I’d lay my head.
Little did she know the plan was there all along. ”
“Meaning?” I asked.
“You ain’t gonna fuck this up. You already in love, big bro. Especially since she got your ass thinking about an end goal.”
He was right, but I wasn’t about to tell him that.
I feared fucking things up with Karim, yet I had absolutely no intention of allowing myself to fuck it up.
I’d never utter this aloud, but over the last few weeks being with her felt right.
Lying next to her, listening to her random ass facts, watching her work, and all of that shit felt like it should have been happened.
When I was with Karim, I didn’t think. It was like my impulses took over and I acted off how she made me feel.
I wasn’t some sappy ass nigga, but for Rim I was willing to do whatever for her to see and feel how far in this I was with her.
Not only that, but I was willing to do whatever necessary to make sure she stayed where she was.
I already knew where my heart was. It didn’t need to be explained nor mentioned.
Truth was, she had me when she bonded with my daughter and fell into step with this between us instead of asking a million valid questions.
“So he called you guys out there to help him remove a tree?” Karim stood over the stove spooning chili into the bowl for me.
“Yeah. I ain’t no fucking tree removal worker.”
“Obviously, but you did help him, right?”
“By calling them, hell yeah, but that’s all they got out of me, Rim.”
“Yeah, because you refuse to wear a coat.”
I sucked my teeth because I already knew she was about to start her shit about me not wearing a coat. “Wasn’t even that cold today, baby girl.”
“Reminisce, it was twenty-three degrees.”
“Damn, it was. Didn’t even feel like it.” I lied because it was freezing today. I’d spent most of the day complaining about it.
She turned around and mugged the fuck out of me before moving to grab a spoon. Rim looked so fucking good I couldn’t help but bite into my bottom lip as I took her in. With her hair pulled up into a big ass bun on top of her head, she had on a sports bra and a pair of basketball shorts.
She went to put the bowl and spoon in front of me, but I pulled her back before she could walk away.
“You beefing with me because I don’t have a coat?” My hand loved the feel of her soft ass skin.
“No. I’m not beefing with you at all. I want you to eat.”
“And I want you to sit here with me while I eat. Tell me about your day, Rim. Can you do that?” I grabbed the spoon and dug into the bowl to get some of the chili.
“I didn’t do anything. Well, besides going to see my family, to the outlet, and getting groceries. When does Ro get back?”
“Few days. Jade said I’m not dictating how long she gets her niece.
Told her ass she better return my kid in the Nike tech I sent her in.
” I put a full spoon of the chili into my mouth because I had that much faith in Karim’s cooking abilities, even though I knew she hated the kitchen.
I’d known that since we were just friends.
Every time I used to go to her crib, she never cooked anything, so I assumed she couldn’t, until one day I came hungry as fuck and she had made guacamole.
I hadn’t eaten that shit in my life, seeing as how it looked like snot, but baby girl was in the middle of frying up her own tortilla chips herself and everything.
She was on some bully shit when she made me taste it, but I was glad I did.
Shit tasted good, just like this did as well.
Karim busted up laughing like I’d cracked a joke.
“I’on know if it’s the fact that I’m fucking you or what, but everything you cook be a motherfucking bomb.” I continued to eat while she fought back the big ass grin threatening to overtake her features.
“I don’t know what one thing has to do with the other, but I’m glad you like it.”
“Glad I like it? Yeah I’m abou—" I started, but there was a knock at the door. I glanced in her direction, before asking, “Are you expecting somebody?”
“No. I’ll ge—”
“Nah, I got it.” I set the bowl down and moved toward the door. I glanced through the side window, then back at her.
“Why are you looking like that? Who’s at the door, Reminisce?”
“If I tell you, are you gonna let me beat his ass?”
Confusion swept her features. “Reminisce.”
With my hand still gripping the doorknob ready to unlock, I tilted my head, waiting for an answer from her.
“Yeah. Now who is it?”
I smiled so hard my teeth threatened to shatter, but in the same second I had the door open and I drew back and sent my fist in ol’ boy’s direction so fast he stumbled back into the decorative chair Karim kept in the corner of her porch.
“Ouch! What did you do that for?” he all but squealed.
“’Cause I’m tired of fucking seeing you.
The grocery store was probably a coincidence, but right here.
You planned this but didn’t realize how bad of an idea this was.
Not until now.” I watched him struggle to stand to his feet.
“See baby, that’s how you throw a punch.
Nigga still dazed, fucking up the warning I’m tryna give him,” I called over my shoulder.
“Yeah whatever, close the door.”
“I am.” Then I looked at him. “The next time I see you, be it coincidence or on purpose, I’ma fuck you up.
As a matter of fact, every single time I see you it’s on sight.
Shit, I’d advise you to invest in one of those silicone masks because Chicago is only so big, and after the third ass whooping, you’re gonna start feeling like you’re healing slower than you’re receiving the beatings.
As a matter of fact, if I were you I’d just move.
But that’s up to you, enjoy the rest of your evening, brother.
” I closed the door before he was fully standing.
What I didn’t expect was for Karim to be standing so close behind me.
“Now why did you do that? He plays police games, Rem.”
“Because he hurt you, and if he does, you better be ready to act dumb and bail me out.” I leaned down and picked her up. She immediately wrapped her legs around my waist.
“And you know I will. But was it necessary to tell him you’d beat his ass every time you saw him?”
“Yup, and that damn sure wasn’t no empty threat. It was loaded like a motherfucker.” I walked us over to where I’d set my bowl on the counter. “Grab that.”
She did as I asked and I walked us over to her couch. I took a seat with her in my arms.
“Why would you though?”
“Because he hurt you and I don’t like that.”
“So does that mean when I see your baby mama I get to beat her ass?
I chuckled, getting exactly where she was coming from. I didn’t like her being hurt by somebody, and apparently, she didn’t like me being hurt by anyone either. “Yeah, we’ll rock, paper, scissors ’bout it when the time comes.”
With the spoon from my food in her hand, she dug into the bowl and scooped up some chili, holding the spoon to my lips. “How do you know the time will come?”
“Because folks don’t know how to leave well enough alone. Folks is Pynk. She’ll be back, thinking shit is a game.” I accepted the spoonful of food.
“Bet. Now on another note.” She scooped more chili up for me, then held it to my lips, eyes locked on mine. This was probably one of the sexiest things I had experienced. Her in my lap, feeding me. My shit was bricked and I knew she felt it.
“I’m listening.” More food accepted while my hands caressed her soft thighs.
“My nephew’s birthday party is this weekend and I need you to go with me. Then my mother wants you at her dinner table next week.” She held more food to my lips.
“You need me to go to the party?”
She rolled her eyes to the ceiling. “Yes. To meet my brothers. Are you okay with that?”
I chuckled. “The fuck I’m not gonna be for? Them your folks, but they’re mortal just like me. Unless it’s some alien shit going on they bleed red just like I do.”
She laughed, leaning over to the side to set the empty bowl on the end table. “Well. Then that’s settled.”
“It is.” I leaned forward, inhaling her scent. She always smelled like some sort of vanilla or cocoa. I could tell she loved warm scents, the ones that made her smell edible. “You about to come shower with me?”
“Um, you tryna tell me I stink or something?”
“Nope. You smell good, but I want you in there with me. Can I get that?” I didn’t wait for her response.
Instead I picked her up and carried her toward her bedroom.
I chose to enter through the bathroom door instead of the room.
I then placed her on the counter and turned around to turn the water on a few feet away.
She started to speak, soft at first, then her words transformed into a full-blown poem. “Feeling suspended,
Like nothing about this could ever be ended,
So severed ties
Or watered eyes,
No slaughtered moments,
Fuck the deployments,
I’m all his, and shit he’s all mine.
Word to a bible, because for him I’d be held liable.”
Her words caught me off guard. When I turned around, she had her eyes closed, still flowing for me.
“Not ready to call it love,
But at this point it’s all above,
Sprawled out, waiting to be lathered,
Shit I’m scattered…”
As soon as she finished speaking, I was between her legs, pulling her body to the edge of the counter.
“Flow so tight I’m ’boutta lay down this good pipe. Might fuck around and help you write a motherfuckin’ sonnet with this stroke.”
In the midst of her poem she chuckled, even though I was about to do more than drop this flow.
Like a magnet, my body was between her legs as our lips collided, hunger filling the space. I fucking needed her and she had to know that.
Her hands plunged into my pants, freeing me. The look in her eyes let me know she needed to have me inside of her. I needed to be inside of her, trapping all the vulnerability she had just expressed.
“I ain’t going nowhere,” I muttered into her neck, thrusting into her sopping center.
She held on tightly, those thick thighs toned and wrapped around my waist. “I—fuck,” she cried out, feeling all I was offering.
“I swear on my life, I’m not going anywhere, Karim.” I slammed into her, words heavyweight. “You believe me, right?” I asked, never slowing down long enough to garner a full answer.
I already knew the answer, so I didn’t need to hear it spill from her lips. We were in this, no outs nor exits, just me and her.
“Mhmm.”
I thrust deeper into her center, sending trembles rippling through her body. I had to be touching her soul, let me be. I needed her to feel me more than anything, so she knew I meant what I said. This shit was afterlife and beyond.
“I’m coming, Rem,” she cried out, her nails in my flesh an even louder indication.
“Let that shit rock then,” I coached, feeling my own nut coming to a head. With Karim I never lasted too long in that first round. It was like she pulled it out of me every fucking time.
“With me please,” she begged. Those thick thighs shaking around my torso, begging me to unload inside of her, my newer favorite pastime.
Seconds later I did as she asked, spilling into her so heavy without a second thought or inkling. Everything about this woman was mine and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. All me.
