Chapter Seventeen
The following morning, Maisie, Naomi, and Sophia were back in Chloe’s office, standing in front of her desk as she sat behind it.
“I still can’t believe we attacked you, Daddy, and Marcus,” Maisie said. “We’re so sorry.”
The other Littles nodded.
The director nodded back at them. “When I realized I needed to expel Derek from the camp, I found Declan and Marcus and asked them to accompany me.” She sighed. “As for Derek’s friends, well, we had no proof they entered your cabin. Only that the two ladies, Vanessa and Harmony, stole the eggs.” She spread her hands. “But taking a dozen eggs isn’t enough to get you kicked out. Even as much as they cost these days!” She chuckled and shook her head. “Anyway, it’s all over. But there’s something else I want to discuss with you three.”
Maisie and her friends exchanged nervous glances.
Were they getting more spankings? Or worse—kicked out of camp? Oh no!
“Yes, ma’am?” Maisie said.
The director’s face softened into a smile. “It seems you all made quite an impression on Eli. You know, he’s one of the camp’s owners. He’s on the investment team Grant Baker partners with.”
“Really?” Maisie said, still wondering where this was going.
Chloe nodded. “Anyway, it seems as if we need someone to run our tech here. Someone with experience in cyber security. The application for entrance is quite lengthy, as you all know, so we collect and store some very sensitive information. We need to make sure it’s safe.” She shifted her gaze to Naomi. “And, if I read your file right, you’re a tour guide.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Naomi said. “At a movie studio.” She smiled. “I’m an actress, too. But, uh…I’m currently in between parts.”
“Well, as it turns out, we need a tour guide here, for prospective campers who visit. And Littles on their first day who just want to get the lay of the land.”
Chloe then looked at Sophia. “We also need someone to run our social media accounts. And since you’re an influencer, you have experience with that sort of thing. Think you could build us a following and draw more campers in?”
Sophia was all-smiles as she said, “Yes, ma’am!”
The leather office chair squeaked as Chloe leaned back. “What do you say, girls? Do you all want to stay here and work for Camp Mountainville?”
Maisie was shocked! It would be a major life change, but the prospect of relocating to New Mexico and staying with her friends—and close to Daddy—was exciting!
“Yes!” they all answered together.
“Perfect,” Chloe said. “Just stay in the cabin you’re already in. It’s yours for the summer.” She stood and offered her hand.
“Welcome to the Camp Mountainville family!”
The End.
