Chapter 12
THERE’S NOTHING LIKE AN ADULT GAME OF TRUTH OR DARE
JASPER
Please say yes. Please say yes.
I silently plead with the desperate look on my face.
I can’t see myself but I know what I look like. A pitiful adult male, one inappropriate thought shy of premature ejaculation.
I briefly tear my gaze away from Abby to peek at Major and Wade, so I can see the judgment on their faces, but it’s not there.
In fact, they both mirror my own obvious desperation.
Normally, I have much more control over my initial instincts and the physical reaction of my currently unruly dick.
But between the shock of seeing Abby this morning, three weeks after that mind-blowing kiss—and thinking about her pretty much everyday since—along with what happened with Wade in his room earlier, I’m riding a high I can’t describe.
I need to get to know her better and I need the opportunity to challenge Wade. This also allows for the chance to give Major a bit of a show, which is right up his alley.
Attempting to relax my tense posture, I lean forward, grabbing another slice of orange, this time feeding myself as nonchalantly as I can and shrug.
“I mean, it could be fun. And everyone can have a skip,” I say with more confidence than I feel, being how badly I want to play. “In fact, I don’t need one so I’ll donate my skip, it’ll be like a free pass for anyone to use.” I wiggle my eyebrows at Abby but it’s Wade I think will need it.
Then Wade throws a total wrench in my cool demeanor with his response. “Sounds fun,” he says with only a slight undertone of sarcasm.
He doesn’t make eye contact with anyone as he reorganizes the fruit platter that doesn’t need it. His usual broodiness is there but he would have referred to me as an idiot and rolled his eyes if he didn’t want to play.
Playing it so fucking cool I actually impress myself and say, “Sweet,” then glance over at Major. “How about you?” I ask him.
Also, in his natural state, he appraises Abby like he needs an okay from her to respond with his answer.
“I’ve never played,” admits Major and all of our jaws drop. “Don’t get me wrong, I know the rules—I get the gist, I’ve just never played.”
“It’s easy. Truth or Dare?” Abby holds her hands out, palms up like she’s weighing the options. “And there’s always double dare.” She wiggles her eyebrows playfully with an adorable smile.
Major gives me a knowing glance because if anyone is going to do that, it’s me. He sits back and passes a look by all of us, then finally turns his gaze to Abby. “If you’re in, I’m in.”
Abby reaches into the side pocket of her leggings and pulls out her phone.
“Ooh,” I respond, as I reach in my pocket for mine, click the side button then tap at the top of her device. A pop up appears asking if I’d like to share my information. Tapping the button, yes, then craning my neck as I reach to tap accept and share on hers.
My phone vibrates and I add her details as a contact, quickly creating a group chat with all of us. I type out, hey pretty girl, hit send, then slide my phone back in my pocket.
I see the top banner pop down over the top of her screen, indicating she got the message. Her lips turn up in an adorable little smirk that she tries to hide and god, I hope I get to kiss those lips again.
She swipes the message away, glancing at the digital time display then responds with ease, “I have about an hour until I need to leave.” She smiles, sliding it back into her pocket. “So, let’s play.”
“Yesssssss.” I fistpump myself, ignoring her ‘leaving in an hour’ comment.
Major leans forward, placing his glasses on the table and says, “Ladies first.”
