6. Caleb
Chapter 6
I did feel a tiny bit underdressed, but I’d been to Italiana several times, and what I was wearing would fit in just fine. Besides, it was definitely more comfortable than slacks and a button-down would be.
On the other hand, Mack looked amazing in his snug-fitting sweater and slacks. I recognized the shirt as one of Xander’s Dry Designs and was pleased to know he had at least purchased some lactation clothing. I hoped that meant he would take some time with his decision to operate. Preferably…forever.
But I promised myself I wasn’t gonna try to sway him one way or the other. Well, that wasn’t completely true. I knew I might try to sway him on a personal level, but not professionally. When he was in my office and asked for my professional opinion, I would always give it to him. But this was a date… At least, I was pretty sure it was.
Steve texted after I talked to Mack and said he sent him my way. Steve thought Mack would be a good Daddy for me, so I was pretty sure he meant it to be a date. I just needed to find out exactly what Mack’s intentions were.
When I walked out of my house, I pulled the door shut and stepped off the porch before I realized Mack wasn’t beside me anymore. I stopped at the bottom of the steps and looked up at him. “Is everything alright?”
“You need to lock your door.”
A burst of joy shot through me because he was already Daddy’ing me. “It locks automatically unless I manually override it, but thank you for double-checking.”
His brow furrowed before he reached for the handle and tested it. Once he was satisfied that it was actually locked, he nodded to himself and followed me down the steps. As I approached the passenger door of his car, Mack’s hand pressed against my lower back and his other one held my bicep. “Let me get that for you.”
“Thank you.” I slipped onto the seat as soon as the door was open and kept my gaze locked straight ahead, wondering what his next move would be. Mack stood over me for a second before reaching for the seatbelt as I hoped he would. “Can I help you with this?”
“Yes, please.”
He snapped me in and his face was just an inch away from mine as I inhaled his scent. A mix of cologne with that warm scent that I knew all too well. The same scent I burrowed into whenever I had an in-person session. Mack pulled back and adjusted the shoulder strap to make sure it was in a comfortable position before catching my eye. “All set?”
I just nodded and watched as he closed my door and went around to his side. If he wasn’t interested in me on a personal level, I’d probably burst into tears. He was just so… everything.
The drive to the restaurant was short as I tapped my foot on the floorboard and tried to be as mellow as possible. But it was hard to do because I was excited. I hadn’t been on a date in a long time.
A really long time.
I usually only spent time with guys I hired from The Lactin Brotherhood or Grindr hookups, but those were rare. They never ended well. At least, not for me. They were more of a means to an end, but didn’t satisfy my real needs.
My need to be Little.
That was something I mostly did with Andy and occasionally during Little nights at the club. But I didn’t like being so public because of my job. Running into a patient could affect their view of me professionally, so I had to be careful.
“Everything okay over there, Doc?”
“Yep, I’m good.” I looked over to Mack and openly stared at him. He was sexy when he wasn’t so self-conscious about his milk. “Ya know, I rarely get called that outside of the office. But I’ll let you slide.”
He stopped at a light and turned to me. “Will you now?”
I shrugged. “You’re buying me dinner, so you can call me anything you want.”
“Careful what you offer, Doc. I might just take you up on that.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and gave him side-eye. “Which part?”
Mack laughed. “The part about calling you whatever I want. There’s no question about the dinner part.”
Color me intrigued. “What do you want to call me?”
The light turned green, and he turned forward, effectively ignoring my question. I let it go, for now. There would be plenty of time for that later.
After he parked the car, Mack didn’t tell me to wait or hop out, so I continued to test him by staying seated, watching as he rounded the front of his car and opened my door for me.
“Allow me.” He winked and reached across my lap to release the belt. This time, he dragged his hand over the front of my shirt before standing up beside me.
Okay, we’re jumping right to the touching part of the evening. That was fine by me. If he had offered to skip dinner and go straight to dessert, I would’ve been on board with that too.
I tried to play coy as I held out my hand for him to take so he could help me out of my seat. “Thank you, sir.”
His eyes snapped to mine, and I could tell that was the magic word. I would have to test the other magic word later. Although, if he preferred sir to Daddy, that was just as well. It wasn’t about the name for me. It was all about the feeling of safety and security that I’d felt since we stepped out of my house. “Steve warned me to be careful with you. Now I’m wondering if he should’ve warned me to be careful with me.”
I merely shrugged and scooted past him, brushing my shoulder against his chest and winking, wondering if that had spurred a letdown. “Probably. Steve knows I like to test limits, but I have a feeling you won’t let me get too far out of line before reining me back in.”
Mack’s hand closed around my bicep, and he gently tugged me back against his chest. With his other hand, he cupped my cheek and tilted my head so I was looking right at him. “Would we be breaking any medical ethics if I asked to kiss you?”
Oh, fuck. My breath hitched as I shook my head. “None.”
He positioned his head right next to mine, rubbing his nose along my cheek as he whispered into my ear. “May I kiss you, Little Doc?”
“Yes, sir.”
His teeth gently closed on my earlobe before pulling back. When his lips finally landed on mine in a chaste kiss that felt more erotic than any I’d ever had in my life, my knees almost buckled beneath me.
Mack held me tightly and then reclaimed my lower lip as it puffed out. “Now behave, Little Doc, so we can get through dinner. I have a lot of things I’d like to talk to you about.”
