My entire body quakes as I come down, forcing myself to pull away from him.
Am I alive or dead?
Do I give a fuck?
Do I need another shower?
“Fuck,” I mutter.
He chuckles—the warm sound anchoring me. It doesn’t pull me somewhere I don’t want to be, but lets me land somewhere soft.
I whine when the water begins to cool. Right on cue.
We slowly dry off, my legs still worthless, and stumble to the bed. I throw myself onto the mattress face down.
He laughs, “Did I break you?”
“No,” I admit, “but I can’t feel my legs.”
He crawls in behind me and wraps himself around me, pulling me into him as he slides his arm under my head for support.
I sigh and melt into him. “I was planning on asking how your day went and how classes are going but instead we visited another dimension and now I can’t English.”
“I know what you mean,” he laughs. “I had every intention to ask you how your exam went, but as soon as you walked in the door I forgot everything except how badly I needed you.”
“I needed you too.” I probably always will.
I nestle into his arms, managing to get just a little closer before I close my eyes and smile, blocking out all thoughts of why this can’t keep happening, and let him carry me into my dreams.
