Bailey
I kick my shoes off and throw myself on the couch, grateful this one doesn’t have stabby ass springs. Never again.
I spent the rest of my shift trying my damndest not to think about him and failing spectacularly. Wondering when and how I’ll see him again. Hell, I don’t even know where he works. Where he lives.
A normal person would have thought to get his phone number but instead I stood there half-hard and dumbstruck. Sexy, I’m sure.
I’m flipping through movie options when my phone dings.
Unknown Number: Hey, green eyes
I squeeze my eyes shut, certain I’m hallucinating, but when I open them again the message is still there.
“Holy shit,” I whisper.
Me: Hey
I reply before the panic settles in and I talk myself out of it. For fuck’s sake, Bailey. Breathe.
How did he get my number?
Unknown Number: How was the rest of your shift?
Me: Not bad. It was pretty chill, actually. How has your night been?
I decide to add him as a contact because this just won’t do.
Lolly: So far so good.
I watch as the three dots appear then disappear a few times before I decide to break the silence my damn self. Put your big boy panties on, Bailey.
Me: It was good to see you again.
My hands tremble as I wait for his response. Was that too forward? Is he just trying to be nice? I mean, he did call me green eyes, so there’s that.
Lolly: It was good to see you too.
I smile, taking in a relieved breath as my body relaxes back into the couch.
Lolly: Want to get some tacos sometime? Catch up? My treat.
I laugh, unable to stop the stupid smile that stretches across my goofy face.
Me: I’d love to.
