21. Chapter Twenty
Chapter Twenty
Lisette
W hen I notice Sage’s boyfriend sulking in the corner, I walk over to him with a bright smile. After shoving Liam’s shoulder, he slowly looks over at me.
“Yes?”
My smile widens at his monotone voice. “Do you not like your costume?” I glance down at his outfit and he does the same before rolling his eyes.
I stifle a laugh when he lets out a sigh.
“Sage likes it.”
“Do you like it?”
He looks over at me again. “I just told you Sage likes it.”
I tilt my head to the side as I study him. “So you like it because she does?”
He doesn’t answer.
“Is there anything you wouldn’t do for her?”
His brows furrow as if he can’t understand me. “Why would I not do any and everything she wants?”
I don’t get to tell him that’s absurd as my sister walks over, a bright smile on her face. “You look so cute.” She fixes his shirt and a smile grows on his face as he looks between her eyes.
“Beautiful,” he mumbles as he watches her like she’s the only thing he can see and it physically hurts my heart to watch.
I glance over to the couch and August is on top of Hazel. He whispers something in her ear that makes her smile before she buries her face in his neck. Across from them, Vidia sits on Sire’s lap as he helps her apply her lip gloss, his eyes drowning in awe.
I’m surrounded by couples and if I wasn’t so lonely, it wouldn’t feel incredibly suffocating. Jackson suddenly pops into my mind, the perfect day we spent together and how much I miss being so close to him hits me like a truck.
“Okay, so are y’all going to have an orgy or are we going out?” I look around the room and we all look too good to sit here any longer.
“Sire can’t make up his mind,” Hazel says as she looks over at my brother.
“Hazel can’t mind her business,” Sire counters.
The room breaks into a laugh and Hazel opens her mouth to voice a harsh reply, but August distracts her with a kiss.
I turn to Vidia for an answer but she shrugs. “The line for the haunted house is going to be ridiculous if we don’t leave soon.”
I turn to August next and he also shrugs. “I want to go to the party, but you’re adamant about this haunted house, so I guess we can go there.”
Sage remains quiet and I give her a knowing look. “It won’t be that scary, Sage, come on.”
She looks around the room before shaking her head. “It wouldn’t be named the scariest haunted house if it isn’t that scary. I don’t want them touching me. They like to separate groups.” She takes Liam’s hand and to no one’s surprise, he agrees with her.
The room goes back and forth again when the door rings. I let them debate as I walk off, and when I open the door, Jackson stares back at me.
He smiles down at me before his eyes drop down to my outfit and I feel a smirk creep onto my face as he stares at the cut on the top of my dress, perfectly tugging my boobs.
“My brothers are here,” I whisper and his eyes dart up to mine before he glares down at me.
“Where are you going like that?”
“You look so pretty,” Isabelle greets me before I can reply. She pulls my leg in for a hug and I pat her back.
“I think Daddy agrees.” I smile up at him but his glare doesn’t falter.
“What are you even supposed to be?”
“Diane, Sin of Envy.” I raise a hand as I flaunt my short orange dress. Taking a step back I gesture to the living room. “August is into anime and wanted us all to be the Seven Deadly Sins. Sage got one of her designer friends to make our outfits and they are incredibly on point.”
He walks in after his kid skips into the living room and she heads straight for my brothers.
I turn to Jackson as I shut the door and his eyes are on my chest again. “Are you going to tell me how hot I look or are you going to keep staring at my titties?” I keep my voice low as I watch him carefully.
We haven’t seen each other since the non-date and as he watches me like a starved man, the butterflies from having his arms around him are back like they never left.
His eyes meet mine and I bite back a smile when I notice his jaw clenching. He glances into the living room and I follow his line of sight to Sire who’s distracted with Isa.
Jackson shifts his body so he’s standing directly in front of me with his back to my brothers. “You look hot,” he whispers and I open my mouth to tease him, but nothing comes out.
I go still when he takes a step forward. My breath hitches as he reaches for my top. He grazes my boobs every so slightly and holds eye contact as he puts his fingers in the front of my dress before pulling my top up. “Where are you going in this?”
I cock my head to the side. “Is your room an option?”
His eyes narrow as he pulls my top higher. He doesn’t say a word as he walks off and I bite back a smile as I pull my dress down again before following him into the living room.
“So you don’t have time for me anymore?” Isabelle glares up at Sire. “I thought we were best friends?”
“We are.” He scoops her into his arms before kissing her cheek. “I can go trick or treating with you for a little while, but August wants me to go out with him too.”
I realize his predicament when I remember he told her they’d spend the night together.
“If you want to hang out with him, then fine .” Isabelle pushes him away as she crawls out of his lap.
“Don’t be like that, princess.”
She whips her head around, her curls swinging in Sire’s face. “Lissy will come with us.” She marches over to me. “Right, Lissy?” She looks up at me with those big gray eyes and I’m about to agree simply because she’s so damn cute, but my jaw drops.
“When did you cut your hair?” I kneel down before turning her around to examine her curls that were once down to her butt and now only a few inches past her shoulders. She’s had her hair up the last few times I’ve seen her, but now I notice it’s dramatically shorter.
I look up at Jackson for an answer and when he rolls his eyes, I stifle a laugh as I realize she did this without his knowing.
“I swear I stepped into my office for five minutes and she chopped half of it off. I tried saving it, but that’s the longest I could go without it looking botched.” He shakes his head at her and I break into a laugh before kissing her precious head.
“I’ll go trick or treating with you, but no more playing with scissors, my sweet girl.”
“Deal!” She turns around before throwing her arms around my neck. I let out a laugh as I rise while carrying her.
August quickly sits up in his seat. “But the group will be incomplete.”
I roll my eyes at his genuine worry. “I’m sure you all will be recognized with two sins missing. Sire will join you all later.” I look over at Isabelle before kissing her nose.
“Am I your favorite now?” I glance over at my brother with a teasing smile.
“Yup, I don’t even know who Uncle Sigh is anymore.” She rolls her eyes as she turns away from him.
His jaw drops and I break into a laugh as I walk backward with her while waving goodbye.
When we reach the door I whisper in her ear. “Say, so long fuckers.”
She stifles a laugh as she turns to the living room. “So long fuckers!” She flips them off and her dad’s jaw drops before I take off running with her and I can hear all of my siblings laughing behind us.
We’re both a laughing mess, but when I see Jackson marching towards us, our laughs quickly sober. Beside him, my brother and his girlfriend are hiding their smiles.
Jackson steps in front of us, his dad glare on. “I’m not going to say anything to both of you because I know that won’t happen again, right?”
Behind him, my brother watches us with his brows raised, a teasing smile on his face.
Isabelle nods quietly and a shiver runs down my back at how hot he sounds when he’s being commanding.
“Get in the elevator.” He nods to the side when the door opens and in silence we all step in. When the door shuts, I grab my phone.
Aren’t you going to call me a good girl for getting in without a fuss?
I steal a glance at Jackson. He pulls out his phone and I don’t miss the way his jaw ticks. Peeking over at Sire, he isn’t paying us an ounce of attention.
Will I get punished if I make her curse again?
If you want me to punish you there’s other ways you can accomplish that.
Noted.
He shakes his head at me, but I can see him biting back a smile.
Jackson
We’re an hour into trick or treating and I still can’t get used to Lisette’s little dress. Every single time I look over at her, it’s as if I’m seeing her for the first time. Her words from before are like a song stuck in my head and I can barely string together a thought that doesn’t consist of her wearing that in my room. Her brother following after us is only adding shame to every thought I have of her.
“Oh, isn’t this so cute?” An elderly woman smiles at my firefighter costume before she focuses on Isabelle’s flame dress.
“I’m perfect, right?” Belle spins for her and I shake my head at her huge personality.
“You are,” the woman agrees. “Your costume deserves a double scoop of candy.” She digs into her bucket before giving Isabelle more candy than needed.
We bid her goodbye and when I turn, I expect to find Lisette behind us, but she isn’t. My eyes scan the front yard and at the other house, I spot her short orange dress standing in front of a guy wearing a sheet that barely covers him.
He looks around Lisette’s age, and when she laughs at something he says, I roll my eyes at the pair. I catch him shamelessly gaping at her boobs and swallow my annoyance. I know I sound like a hypocrite since I’ve been stealing glances at her all night, but this kid is… he’s not me.
“I feel like we’re walking too slow,” Belle complains before grabbing her uncle’s hand. “Chop chop.” She takes off marching and Vidia follows close behind them with a laugh.
“I need to grab something from the car. I’ll catch up with you guys,” I call out and they nod in return before they turn the corner. Spinning on my heels, I walk over to Lisette.
“Okay, I need a hint.” She laughs as she gives his body a once over. “Sexy mummy?” She tilts her head to the side as she guesses his costume.
He smirks down at her. “You think I’m sexy?”
I roll my eyes at how pathetic he sounds.
“I think sexy is what you were going for,” she teases and he holds his heart as if she wounded him.
Before either of them can say anything else, I step beside Lisette. “What did Daddy say about talking to strangers, sweetie?”
The guy in front of us takes a step back, his eyes wide as he examines Lisette again.
Lisette lets out a scoff as she turns to him. “I’m a grown woman. That sounded really bad, but he is not my dad.”
He visibly relaxes as I smile down at her.
“No, but she does call me Daddy.”
Her jaw drops now, and when I face forward, he takes off without a word.
Beside me, she slaps my forearm. “That was so unnecessary.”
“Did I lie?”
“I thought I was the one wearing the sin of envy costume.”
I let out a scoff. “You thought that was jealousy?”
“Well, it surely wasn’t affable.”
I ignore her.
After a few seconds of me glaring at her, she stands in front of me with her arms crossed. “If that wasn’t jealousy, then you won’t mind if I leave early to go with him? He invited me to a party.”
I don’t say anything and she shakes her head before turning, but as she takes a step, I wrap my arm around her waist and drag her back to my front.
“You don’t even know him.” I glare down at her. “He could be an axe murderer.”
She keeps her back against me as she tilts her head back to look up at me. “Maybe I have a knife kink.” She shrugs and I’m about to respond before my eyes trail down to her outfit.
I feel my jaw clench as I let her go to shrug my jacket off. “Put this on.” I hold it out to her, but she takes a step back.
Her eyes fall on my bare chest before she shakes her head. “Kiss me.”
“What?” I scan her face but she only smiles.
“You’ve been giving me that look all night.”
“What look?” My brows furrow.
“That I want to kiss you, look.” She crosses her arms again and as her boobs are pushed together, all of my blood rushes south. “You were also fighting a boner in the car and that’s the second time your body has had that reaction to me. Not to mention, you look hot in suspenders, so cut the PG-13 stuff. Kiss me.”
I watch her for a beat but she’s being serious. I shove my jacket closer to her. “Put it on.”
“Kiss me and I’ll cover up my perfect tits.”
“You’re Sire’s little sister,” I remind myself.
“I’m Sire’s little sister who you said was hot, boobs you stared at, got jealous over, and got a hard-on to.” Her smile widens. “My ass also felt all that junk in your pants, but you draw the line at our lips touching? It’s just a kiss, JJ.”
She takes a step closer. “Are you scared you’ll like it?”
“I just want to talk to Sire first. It’s the decent thing to do.” I hurry past her.
“Well, when do you plan on talking to him?” She steps beside me.
“We should catch up with Belle and your brother.” I change the topic, desperately needing a buffer between me and this woman.
“Hiding behind your daughter? Coward ,” she whispers.
“Shut up,” I bite out before trying to move around her, but she steps in my way.
“I won’t say another word if you kiss me, but if you don’t, I’ll have no choice but to believe you weren’t jealous because you no longer want me and I’ll talk back to every guy who looks at my titties because I won’t be covering them and—”
I wrap a hand behind her neck before my lips come down on hers. She doesn’t miss a beat as she melts against me, her hands wrapping around my neck.
Everything in me feels at ease as I slide my tongue against hers. I take a step closer, needing more and she backs away until she’s pressed against the car behind her.
A whimper escapes me as my other hand trails down her side and it’s as if my entire body ignites. I slip a hand in her hair, pulling at it and she moans in return before biting my lip.
She trails a hand down my chest and just as I grind against her, a car alarm goes off, pulling us apart. I’m practically gasping for air as she brings a hand up to her lips, as if she were checking that they were still there.
“What are the chances we could do that again?” she asks breathlessly.
Reality hits me and I take a step back before turning on my heels and grabbing my jacket from the ground. I hold it out to her and she simply shrugs it on without a word.
“Good girl.”
Her entire face is beet red and I bite back a laugh as we catch up to her brother.
