Chapter 34 #4

Weeks of absence and longing grew higher and higher until Addy stiffened and clenched around Liam, riding the wave of her orgasm. Slowing to give her time to catch her breath, Liam smiled.

Addy grinned and took her foot, pushing at his chest. Sitting up, she gripped his cock and ran her tongue along the tip and down his length.

“Mmm,” she moaned. “I taste even better when I’m on you.”

Ducking her head back down, she used her tongue to lick and suck as his hand wrapped into her hair.

“Addy, stop. I’m about to come,” Liam gritted out as she cupped his balls and tugged.

She glanced at him with an impish smile as she took him farther into his mouth. “You little minx,” he groaned and chuckled as his orgasm bubbled to the surface and went over the edge.

Addy cleaned his cock as he watched her. When she finished, she slid up his body and kissed him deeply.

When she pulled away, she said, “I’m hungry. Do you want some dinner?”

“As long as you walk around like this,” he said, following her into the kitchen. She washed her hands and checked the fridge.

Pulling out two stuffed pork chops she saved for work dinners, Addy started the oven and then went to the bathroom to clean up. When she came out, Liam set out the makings for a salad and put the meat in the oven.

Together, they chopped the veggies, and Liam took his time nibbling her shoulders and neck as she mixed everything. When the pork chops finished baking, Liam removed them and plated everything on one dish.

Leading Addy to the couch, he sat her on his lap and fed her as he played with her breasts between bites.

“Promise me, you’ll continue to find yourself,” Liam said firmly.

Addy chewed, swallowed, and said, “As long as you promise to do everything to come home to me.”

“I will never need to promise it because I do it already,” he vowed.

“Then, I will give you my word. Do you plan on staying at the facility when you return?” she asked.

“I’ll be searching for a house. They’re kinda scarce in Serenity,” he informed her.

“I know. When I moved here, I lived in the staff buildings. It took me seven months to find this place. I like it here, it’s peaceful,” she said.

“I hope it won’t take me months,” he said thoughtfully. “Will you keep an eye out for any listings?”

“I’m thinking maybe you can come live with me?” she said, gazing at him. “I love having you here, and life’s too short.”

He cupped her neck as his thumb caressed her cheek. “Marry me, Addy. Say the words, even if it’s not in front of our friends or even legal. We’ll make it official when I come home.”

“I, Addy, take you, Liam, for the rest of my life. I promise always to be your best friend, and I’ll support you even when I get scared. I’ll love and welcome Apollo into our family.

Liam wiped the single tear trailing down her cheek. “I, Liam, will love you all the days of my life. I will push you, argue with you, and, most of all, make up with you. We will make choices together, and I promise to take Zeus as my family. I love you, Addy.”

“Liam.”

“Yes, Addy?”

“I’m done eating. I want dessert,” she whispered.

Liam helped her rise and dumped their dishes into the kitchen sink. They ran upstairs and made love again. This time, he didn’t hurry.

In the early hours of the morning, they fell asleep in each other’s arms.

When his alarm went off, he rolled from the bed and showered. His heart beat heavily as he worried about Addy and if she’d run. Last night, he hoped he cemented how he felt, but she panicked when shit got real.

The shower door opened, and she stepped inside. They took turns washing each other.

They dressed and took out the dogs. Addy fixed breakfast while he coordinated with Bear and Archer.

Addy drove him to the plane, and she waited while they loaded everything. When they finished, his brothers said goodbye. Addy cried as he pulled her close.

“I have to go,” he said softly, pressing his forehead to hers.

Nodding, she choked out, “I know.”

She watched as he climbed the stairs and the door closed. Her heart raced as she took a deep breath. She waved and smiled as the plane slowly rolled down the runway. Liam pressed his hand to the window and mouthed I love you.

Addie slowly walked to her SUV and mustered her newfound strength to stay strong for the man she’d come to love.

The pain of losing Sam would always remain part of her.

He represented her past. Liam gave her a reason to step toward her future.

Swiping the tears from her face, she drove toward Catherine’s home.

Her new friend needed comforting while the team searched for her husband.

After watching these women band together, she knew by the time she arrived, her friends would be there, too.

Pulling into the driveway, she marveled at how this found family stuck together through thick and thin.

Now she became one of them because the man she loved refused to give up on her.

Now, it was her turn to prove she was strong enough to keep going no matter what.

It took losing Liam out of fear to make her realize life was too short not to miss out on love again.
