The drive back to the office was calm, a stark contrast to the frenetic energy that usually filled the air when they were heading to work. The quiet between Amanda and Ericka felt comfortable, as though both women were allowing the peaceful aftermath of the massage to linger.

As they approached the office building, Amanda glanced over at Ericka. Her posture was still relaxed, the tense, no-nonsense CEO she had known only a few hours ago now seemed far more at ease. Amanda couldn't help but smile to herself—she'd done the right thing.

Ericka broke the silence first, her voice a little lighter than usual. "You know, I never really realized how much I push myself until today. I don't usually let anyone get close enough to... help me."

Amanda shot her a look, her eyebrows raised slightly. "Is that a compliment? Or should I be worried?"

Ericka smiled faintly, her expression softening. "It's a compliment. I'm not used to letting anyone in, but you've done a good job of making sure I don't burn out. For that, I'm grateful."

Amanda chuckled quietly. "I'm just doing my job. But if I had known a massage was the secret to getting you to open up, I would've suggested it sooner."

Ericka laughed too, though it was brief. "Yeah, well... It's not exactly my usual thing. But I guess sometimes it's good to be pushed out of your comfort zone."

The car pulled up to the office entrance, and Amanda parked in the same spot as always. They both sat there for a moment, the hum of the engine the only sound between them.

"We're back to reality now," Amanda said, her tone playful but also a little more thoughtful than usual. "Time to dive back into the chaos of your empire."

Ericka sighed, rubbing a hand over her face. "I guess so. But I'm actually looking forward to it now. I've got a bit more energy than I did this morning. I feel... human again."

Amanda laughed softly. "That's the magic of taking a break."

They both exited the car and made their way into the building, the usual buzz of activity greeting them as they walked through the lobby. The scent of coffee and the rustling of papers filled the air, a reminder that the work never stopped, no matter how much Ericka might have needed a pause.

As they entered the elevator, Amanda pressed the button for the top floor, and the two women stood side by side, neither saying much, but there was a quiet understanding between them.

Ericka, for once, wasn't as tightly wound as usual.

There was a new softness to her demeanor, and though it didn't erase the demanding CEO persona, it added a different layer—a more approachable, human side that Amanda found even more endearing.

When the elevator doors opened, they walked down the hall to Ericka's office. The staff nodded at them as they passed, but the usual flurry of activity seemed a bit less intense now, as if even the people around them could sense that something had shifted.

Ericka settled behind her desk, her chair creaking as she sat down, but this time, she didn't immediately start typing away at her computer or answering phone calls. She leaned back, rolling her shoulders slightly, still looking much more relaxed than she had that morning.

Amanda lingered by the door for a moment, waiting for any signs that Ericka needed her. But the CEO just waved her in, a small smile still lingering on her lips.

"Alright, back to work," Ericka said, her tone carrying that familiar authority, but there was a gentleness to it now. "What's on the agenda for the rest of the day?"

Amanda walked over to her desk and set down the notes she had brought with her. "We have that meeting with the investors in an hour. I've confirmed everything on your schedule, and I've also updated you on the closing for the new collection deal."

Ericka nodded as she flipped through the papers, her focus sharp but no longer tense. "Sounds good. I'll go over the presentation one last time before we meet. But I think I'm actually ready for it now, thanks to you."

Amanda felt a small, proud smile cross her face. "Glad I could help. If you need anything else before the meeting, just let me know."

"Will do," Ericka replied, her eyes briefly meeting Amanda's, the same silent appreciation from earlier passing between them.

As Amanda turned to leave the office, she couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

Maybe the day hadn't gone exactly as she expected when she first stepped into this job, but she knew one thing for sure: she was making an impact.

Not just as an assistant, but as someone who could be trusted, someone who cared enough to help Ericka in ways beyond the usual work-related tasks.

She headed back to her desk, ready to prepare for the next meeting, but with a sense of ease she hadn't expected. Something had shifted between her and Ericka today, something deeper than just a professional relationship.

Amanda didn't know what the future held, but for now, she was content with what she had already started.
