Chapter 47
That night she was nestled beside him on the quilt in the middle of the garden. They’d both forgotten about the evening sprinklers this time, so they were both soaking wet. It was hot enough today that it didn’t matter. Even after the sun went down, it was still blazing.
Another unpredictable Kansas autumn.
Felicity took his hand, staring up at the sky.
“What happened to the lost prince and the wicked angel, Nicky?”
Laughter rumbled in his chest. “She found him, and they found their way to the stars.”
“That’s what you should call it.”
“Call what?”
“The restaurant. Unless you’re tied to that stupid ceramic cow concept.”
“Call it…?”
“Ad Astra.” She said it on a breath.
“To the stars,” he said back with a smile.
Felicity squeezed the hand of the man who wasn’t ever tethered but had been very lost. She’d never felt more found than at this very moment.
She blinked at the sky. She’d never felt more herself than at this moment either.
Who she was now didn’t mean she had shed any parts of herself from before.
She was still the little girl lost in fairy tales.
Felicity was still the nightmare sprite.
She was the wicked angel. She was the broken woman in front of a train.
The reckless girl facing a tornado. She was the lost prince.
She was the dragon slayer. She was grief.
She was joy. She was laughter. She was anger.
And she simply was.
Every last particle of her soul was his, but—
Felicity Gallagher was an entirety.
