Chapter 33 #2

No, I just had an active imagination.

I continued to wash myself, but another roar caught me from behind. I turned around abruptly, but didn’t see a soul, just the steam numbing my senses.

It felt like the start of a horror movie.

Instead of leaving, I wiped my tears with rage.

Why couldn’t I get Jackson out of my head? Why did his words continue to torment me? Maybe he was right. I was weak.

I should’ve told him to go to hell, given the humiliating way that he treated me. Instead, all I could do was think of him. Of my fingers between his soft hair, so blond that it looked like wheat, and the cold touch of his piercing under my tongue, his big hands around my neck . . .

The water stopped suddenly. I opened my eyes in fear. Someone was there.

“Oh, but—”

James, with perfectly arranged hair and meticulously dressed, looked down at me. I felt like I was going to die meeting his cutting sapphire eyes. He let his gaze slide down where my erection revealed anything but chaste thoughts.

“Look here,” he sneered, amused.

“Stay away from me,” I stuttered, afraid.

And not because I was afraid of him, but because he was temptation incarnate. Especially when he smiled that way.

“You understood, the little Blaze.”

James handed me a towel while he took a step toward me. I moved my back against the cold tiles.

“Did you use Jackson’s shower gel?” he then asked, licking a corner of his mouth,

“What do you know?”

He smiled at my embarrassment. Asshole—he did it on purpose.

He knew I liked his best friend; everyone probably knew it. But what James didn’t know was that he and I were seeing each other in secret.

Someone like James would lose his mind finding out his friends had secrets.

“James, don’t—”

My timid attempt to kick him out didn’t end well, because James walked into the shower, getting his Jordans wet. I angrily grabbed the towel to cover myself while he came closer, blowing his warm breath on my wet neck.

“I need you to do something for me, Blaze,” he whispered against my jaw, now hurting from how hard I was clenching it.

“Tell me.” I gulped loudly.

“Would your dad agree to put security cameras in school?”

“What do you mean? Why should he?”

James didn’t seem like the paranoid type. What did he care who came in and out of the school?

“Is there something I don’t know, James?”

His fingers grazed my bare back but he didn’t unstick his warm lips from my cheek. It was torture. For a moment I thought I had a fever.

“You do what I tell you, and you’ll have everything you want.”

I stopped breathing.

“You don’t know what I want,” I answered weakly.

“Um, I can imagine.” He hinted at a smile, assaulting my body with a boiling-hot look that made my knees weak.

“I mean, you’ll find out everything you want to know.” He corrected himself then, when he’d already triggered dirty thoughts in my mind.

His words slid over me like drops of water.

I couldn’t hear him anymore because his burning mouth was pressed on my sensitive earlobe.

First he licked it with his lip, then he sucked on it passionately.

I closed my eyes. James had just pushed a button.

I didn’t know what it was or that I even had it, but his predatory behavior was switching on all my arousal.

I gasped, defenseless against his athletic figure.

Why did he have to mess with me like this?

“Go fuck yourself, Hunter.”

He wasn’t happy with my act of rebellion.

“I’ll slam your face into the wall if you talk to me like that, Blaze,” snarled James. “But maybe that might feel too good for you, Blaze.”

He repeated my name with a warm, seductive voice that was typical of someone who was perfectly aware of the effect they had on others.

James lowered his hand and quickly pulled the towel away, dropping it.

“As I thought.”

He looked at me with his head tilted to one side, as if he wanted to plant his deep eyes inside me, inside my soul, and god, he intimidated me.

I didn’t talk. I restricted myself to grabbing the towel and wrapping it around my waist again.

I made sure to cover my stomach again since I didn’t have his or Jackson’s abs.

But the thought of the two of them right there together deceived me, and James took advantage of that immediately.

“Blaze, Blaze, the effect I have on you—devastating.” Damn it, he’d noticed. He smiled cunningly. My heartbeat started racing like a train about to derail.

“But other than your crazy hormones, how is the old man? Did he stop playing detective?”

“You should stop, James,” I ordered him seriously.

His lips grazed against mine again, but this time James didn’t beat around the bush like he usually did. I had to fight with everything I had not to stick my tongue into his mouth. I hated when he behaved like this. But who was I kidding? He was irresistible. I wanted him to kiss me. Again.

I wanted him to maybe be nice, unlike Jackson. Like that time he saved my life.

“Think again about what I said, Blaze. Especially since you owe me, right?” No, even he didn’t forget about it.
