Epilogue

Freddie

“Oh my God!” A disembodied voice came from downstairs.

I smiled to myself as I collected my papers I’d strewn across the dining room table.

Andreas flew up the stairs and yanked me up. Then he pulled me into a massive bear hug.

I gripped him tightly. “Okay, what’s up?” After six weeks, I knew him as well as I’d known him before.

Probably more so.

Something was definitely up. Not wrong…just—

“You remember I told you Valentino wanted a meeting?”

“Well, yeah. I figured you’d text me if—”

“I had to tell you in person.” He grinned so wide that it nearly split his face.

“Okay. Well, I’m here. In person.” I ran my hand along his flushed cheek. The September weather might’ve turned chilly, but clearly that hadn’t impacted Andreas in the slightest.

“This is super, super, super hush-hush.”

“Yeah, okay.” I’d signed a million non-disclosure agreements when I’d first started working for the studio.

“Valentino is planning to do a spin-off of Vigilante Justice.”

My eyes widened. “You’re kidding.”

“Nope. You see why you can’t say anything.”

“Uh, yeah. That would explode the internet. So…” I wheeled my hand to say get on with it.

“I went into his office and Shayna was there.”

“Your agent from LA? She came all this way?”

“Yep. She wanted to be here when he offered me one of the lead roles.”

“Holy shit.” My heart sped up.

“Right? Oh God, Freddie. This could be my big break. I mean, my film with Norah’s got potential…but a spin off of VJ?”

The biggest show on the network? Yeah, I got it. “You said yes right? But you were thinking of going back to school—”

“I can take classes virtually. I’ll have to make time for them, shooting, and you—”

“Me last. Your dreams, Andreas. Everything you’ve wanted—”

He smacked me on the chest. “You first. Everything else second. But, uh…” He closed one eye—something he did when he was about to deliver news and he wasn’t certain how it would land.

“Yes…?”

“This could be a multi-year gig. Huge potential.”

“That’s amazing.” I cocked my head. “Oh, work permit.”

“The lawyers are already on it.”

“Well…” I held myself still. “Does this have something to do with Marco, Troy, and Rocco coming for dinner tomorrow night?”

He sighed.

“Andreas, you’re terrible at keeping secrets. Plus, Troy called me.”

“That shit.”

“Well, he knew what you were planning, and he wanted to make certain I was okay with it. That he’d intervene if I wasn’t.”

“I didn’t…” He winced. “I didn’t want you to think I was proposing just so I could stay in Canada.”

“There are easier ways to doing it than marrying a Canadian.” He still would have a million pieces of paperwork to deal with.

“But none are as much fun.” He held my gaze. “So you want to marry me?”

I rolled my eyes. “Silly man. Of course I do.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

And the next night, before our friends, I officially agreed to marry him.

My second chance had become my forever love.

I couldn’t have been happier.
