Chapter Nineteen

Prince entered their apartment and smiled at the scent that greeted him, knowing that Finn was home.

One thing that was missing was Gray, who would usually meet him at the door or meow from somewhere else in the house.

Prince took off his jacket and took out the ring.

Instead of going to find Finn, he went to his office and placed the ring in a drawer, locking it with the key.

Once that was done, he went in search of his man.

Finn wasn't in the kitchen but was sitting on the balcony attached to the kitchen, wrapping around to the dining room, which also had its own entrance. Although their apartment was in the middle of the city, they weren’t far from a park filled with tall, lush trees that caught the beautiful hues of sunrise or sunset.

Prince quietly walked up to Finn without alerting him, then leaned down and pressed a lingering kiss on his cheek. Finn hummed, and his hand instinctively cupped the back of his head, carding his fingers through his hair.

"You're home," Finn whispered.

"Did you miss me?" Prince asked, straightening, then walked around and sat on the lounge chair beside Finn, facing him.

"I always miss you." He smiled.

"You're home early, I thought you had a meeting."

"It got canceled.” He leaned forward, wrapping his arms around Prince's neck, whose hands immediately went to Finn's waist, pulling him so close he was practically sitting on his lap. "I made your favorite."

"Impossible," Prince said. "Unless you are on the menu, nothing else can top it."

Finn chuckled as his face turned bright red, and he pressed his forehead into Prince's chest.

"Where do you come up with these things?" Finn asked, chuckling.

"Many years of practice, baby."

"I see." Finn raised his head, looking at him.

Prince marveled at how good he looked. Almost as if he was glowing.

"Watch the sunset with me," Finn said.

"Scoot over," Prince told him.

"Where's Gray?"

"He's with Bevin."

"I was strongly against Bevin moving in downstairs from us, but now I'm taking it as a blessing."

"I'll tell him you said that."

"Don't you dare," Prince said.

Finn snickered. "Okay, okay, your secret is safe with me."

Prince wasn't sure how Bevin had done it, but Gray went from treating Bevin as the enemy to now his friend.

Bevin had moved into their building a few weeks ago and even made space for the kitten.

They got comfy on the lounge chair with Finn lying in his arms as they watched the sun disappear behind the horizon.

When Prince had imagined his life in years past, it was nothing like this. Sitting long enough to watch the sun setting. It was always about making money and expanding his family's wealth so Bevin would have something to carry on, the same thing his father had done for him.

Prince knew there had been gaps in his life, and although he’d enjoyed teaching, it only filled some of them.

The relationships he had were not satisfying and nothing like what he had with Finn.

Prince looked down at Finn, whose long lashes were fanning his cheeks, and by the soft snores, he knew his baby had fallen asleep.

Instead of waking him, Prince kissed the top of his head and enjoyed the moment.

Finn groaned, prying his eyes open. Thanks to the soft light on the nightstand, he realized he was in their bedroom alone.

The last thing he remembered was being on the balcony with Prince watching the sunset.

He had just finished dinner when he noticed how gorgeous it was outside and wanted to enjoy the moment. Prince had come home not long after.

"Fuck, I fell asleep and ruined my own romantic dinner where I planned to tell Prince about the baby."

Throwing the blanket off, he went in search of his lover and heard his voice coming from his office with the door open.

Finn entered without knocking just as Prince was finishing up his call.

He smiled when he saw Finn, who walked over as Prince sat back in his seat.

He patted his legs, and Finn immediately sat down.

"Thanks, Lucas. And I owe you one for doing this."

The call ended, and Prince set his phone down, then turned his attention to Finn. "Did you have a good nap?"

"I did. I'm sorry I fell asleep. It's not what I had planned."

"It's alright, you must have been tired. You can make it up to me later," Prince said in a low, deep voice.

"I'm going to sleep a lot over the next few months," Finn whispered.

"What do you mean? Are you sick?" Finn didn't like the worry in Prince's tone, but it comforted him.

"Nothing like that," Finn said.

"Then what is it?"

"Did you eat? Let's go eat, I'm hungry."

Finn went to get up, but Prince clamped down on his waist, stopping him from getting anywhere.

"Tell me, Finn, what's going on?"

"Nothing, it's that I planned a really romantic dinner and I fell asleep."

Finn could tell Prince didn't believe him by the way he was staring at him.

"Is that really all it is?" Prince asked.

Finn opened his mouth to say yes, but the word wouldn't come out. So instead, he spoke the words that came to his heart. "Prince, I'll be responsible for you."

Prince didn't speak and stared at Finn. A couple of minutes later, Prince's eyes widened and dropped to Finn's stomach, then back to his face.

"Are you sure?" he asked in a slightly shaky tone.

Finn nodded, smiling. "Two and a half months."

"I...we...you..." Prince stuttered, looking from Finn to his stomach. "Pregnant."

"Yeah."

He placed a gentle hand over Finn's stomach, staring at it in awe. "Oh fuck, I'm going to be a dad."

"You are already a dad, did you forget Bevin?"

"Don't ruin the moment, baby," Prince grumbled, looking at Finn.

Finn giggled, then wrapped his arms around Prince's shoulder. "Are you happy?"

Prince leaned in and pecked his lips. "Very, how about you? Are you okay with this happening so soon?"

"I am." He rested his head on Prince's shoulder. "I've always wanted a family. I only wish my grandmother were here to share it with."

"She's with you in spirit, babe."

"Yeah."

"Get up for a second," Prince said, helping Finn shift to the other side of the couch.

Prince stood, got something from his desk drawer, then came back over to Finn, but instead of sitting back down beside Finn, he went to one knee and took one of Finn's hands into his.

Finn's heart was pounding against his ribs; he was sure they were going to break.

He could hardly believe what was happening.

"Prince," he said. "What are you doing?"

"Isn't it obvious?" He smiled.

"I..."

"Don't say anything yet. Not until I'm done."

Finn nodded.

"I must have done something good in my life for you to walk into it and give me everything I've ever wanted.

I know Nova and I have been good parents, but I know that without you by his side, Bevin wouldn't take things as seriously as he does now.

Giving me the opportunity to meet you. There are so many things that make me love you, Finn.

And I can't wait to walk by your side to see you accomplish every one of your dreams. But I don't want to do it only as your lover. "

He released Finn's hand. Finn gasped and covered his mouth when Prince opened his palm, as if he had performed magic, showing a platinum ring with a ruby and diamonds.

"I want to be your husband. Marry me, Finn. Be my husband. Let's be responsible for each other."

Finn was already nodding as he reached out with shaky fingers to take the ring, but Prince closed his palm.

"I need an answer, baby."

"Yes," Finn said as he felt something wet slip down his cheeks, just realizing he had been crying. "Yes, I'll marry you."

Prince slipped the ring on his finger, and it was a perfect fit. But before he could admire it, Prince pulled him into a hug.

"Thank you," he whispered, kissing Finn on the side of his neck.

Finn buried his face in Prince's shoulder, feeling like he should be the one to say thank you for giving him everything he had ever wanted.

"It should be at the Grand Veramont Hotel," Bevin said, glaring at his grandfather.

"What's wrong with the Solenne Banquet Hall? It's the perfect place to have a wedding," Hunter argued back.

"It's not good enough," Bevin said.

"Hey, kid, I got married there," Hunter growled.

"This is ridiculous," Prince whispered. "I'm glad we didn't tell them about the baby."

Finn looked at Prince, who was watching the two argue, his head moving back and forth like it was a tennis match.

They'd announced to Bevin and Hunter that they were engaged, but had held off on telling them that Finn was pregnant until after their first doctor’s appointment together.

But who knew that telling Hunter and Bevin about their engagement would lead to what was happening now?

Bevin had declared himself Finn's best man and wedding planner before Hunter could say anything, but Hunter insisted on where the wedding should be held.

"Maybe we should just elope and let them do whatever the hell they want," Finn said, jokingly, but the look Prince gave him made Finn think he had said something crazy.

Prince took his hand and pulled Finn out of the room and to a secluded alcove in the Sullivan family home, pinning him against the wall.

"Say that again," Prince said.

"What?" Finn wasn't sure what Prince was talking about.

"You said we should elope, are you serious?"

"I..." Finn stuttered.

"I don't care when or how we get married, Finn.

We can hop on a plane tonight, head to Vegas, and get an impersonator to do it.

Or we can do the big bash. I don't mind dealing with Bevin and my father's insanity.

All I care about is making you happy. All I want is to spend the rest of my life with you, and I don't care how we do it. "

Finn smiled. He liked hearing that. Truthfully, he had never dreamt of having a big wedding. He simply wanted someone to be by his side in the good and bad times.
