As if matters were not complicated enough, with smugglers and ghosts to confuse the trail of my sneak thief and at least two highwaymen! Today, I received a letter from my superiors instructing me to stay out of the way of the Home Office, unless they specifically ask for my help.
Given that the Home Office has not deigned to tell Bow Street who their agents are or what they are doing, I cannot understand how they expect me to stay out of their way. I have enough trouble with my own cases, without interfering in anyone else’s.
