Chapter 12 Wednesday, March 18th
KNOX
Ugh, school is frying my brain. I’m never going to pass junior year.
STATEN
Don’t say that. I’m sure you’re doing alright.
KNOX
I’m missing like five assignments in my statistics class.
STATEN
That’s an easy fix—you just need to apply yourself.
KNOX
All of this would be a lot easier if you were here.
STATEN
Aw, need me to hold your hand?
KNOX
Is that offer on the table? Because yes, yes I do.
STATEN
I think you’re being a little hard on yourself.
KNOX
Everyone seems miles ahead of me.
STATEN
Trust me, they may look like they know what they’re doing, but they’re probably just as lost as you are.
KNOX
Easy for you to say. You have a photographic memory or something. Or Albert Einstein’s brain.
STATEN
That would be impossible. There have been no successful brain transplants in history.
KNOX
See! You just know stuff.
STATEN
You know stuff too, Knox. I see students struggle with curriculums all the time in my line of work. It’s why I have a job in the first place. Everyone just needs a little help sometimes.
KNOX
But I want to be self-sufficient.
STATEN
You are. You will be.
KNOX
You know, I think this is the longest you’ve gone without insulting me.
STATEN
Don’t get used to it.
KNOX
Wouldn’t dream of it.
