Chapter 8 #2
Yet, it was something about the way he held her hostage under his stare now that woke up another part of her.
Now he wasn’t just Rose, her best friend.
He was a man, like any other. Minx tried to deny what he made her feel, but the more she did that, the more her feelings swept against the current to the top.
She was scared, plain and simple. Scared of losing him as a friend and scared that if they did take that step, she would lose herself in him.
She’d seen it happen, and she didn’t want to fall victim to it.
She loved Rose already. She could only imagine what he could make her feel going all in.
“You acting like what I said meant I don’t feel shit for you. Like you don’t matter to me, and that couldn’t be further from the fucking truth,” he explained.
Minx tried to get away from him, but Rose pinned her to the counter, eyes searing hers.
“I don’t want to talk about this, okay! It is what it is at this point! You know what you feel for me, Rose. You know that shit. Either you want this, or you don’t.”
“Since when did we start having conversations about what we are to each other, Minx?” He asked, brows knitting together above his troubled eyes.
“Since you kissed me like no other nigga ever has in my entire life and then walked away like it was nothing. You don’t do that type of shit! And now you’re back and playing in my face with this bitch, Nadia!”
“You got a whole nigga out here.” Rose took a step back and shook his head.
“You right, I do. I had to find somebody to fill those nights. Someone who wanted to be with me and didn’t care what anybody thought. Someone to fuck me until the sun comes up,” she revealed, pushing all Rose’s buttons.
She caught the flicker of anger there now when he glared at her.
“I don’t need to hear about you fucking this nigga, Minx. For real.”
“I said all that shit, Rose, and that’s all the fuck you heard! So is that all I am to you? A fuck!” She continued to spaz.
All the shit she’d been holding in for the past year caved.
She either had to get it out, or it was going to suffocate her.
Now that Rose was back, it all bubbled back to the surface.
He shot daggers through her, haunting her with an empty stare.
Rose restrained everything in him to keep from snapping back at her.
He couldn’t believe she would even ask that shit, and that offended him.
“I’ma pretend like I didn’t even hear you say that shit.” He flicked the tip of his nose and inhaled.
“Why?” Minx got in his space, and she knew how he felt about that shit. “Is it because it’s the truth?”
Rose gave that shit right back, drawing closer, and glowering at her.
Chest heaving, she knew she had him turned up and now her heart raced.
Grabbing her throat, not rough, but with enough force to let her know he was serious, Rose pulled her to him.
His hard torso pressed into hers, and she held her breath while his eyes bounced around hers, searching.
“You can question whatever the fuck you want about me, Minx. But don’t you ever act like I don’t give a fuck about you. I would give my own fucking life if it meant you were straight, and you know my word is bond,” he growled, melting her in his embrace.
Grabbing his shirt, she threw herself toward him.
Her lips found his instantly, and Rose didn’t fight it.
A deep frown etched into his face when he gave in and kissed her back.
When their tongues swept over each other in passion, Minx m owned into his mouth.
Rose’s hands palmed her ass, jerking her into him with hunger.
His dick didn’t waste any time stiffening between her thighs.
The longer he kissed her, the nastier it got.
Rose lifted Minx off the ground and onto the counter in the kitchen, knocking over a bowl and making it clatter to the floor.
Doing his best to pull away, Rose grabbed both of Minx’s hands from his face and inched away from her.
A skeptical frown flitted over her face as she caught her breath.
“We can’t do this shit, Minx.” He was doing his best to talk himself out of the best thing that ever happened to him.
Shit was too good to be true, so he had to get away from her. Good shit didn’t happen to him. If it did, he had to question it or it was yanked from him.
“This why I left to begin with. Shit getting too heavy, ma. You! You know what the fuck you do to a nigga!” He grabbed her and jerked her close, alarming Minx.
“I can’t do this shit with you. You a nigga’s weakness.
It don’t matter the weather, ma. You live in me somehow, someway.
” His stare weakened on her as she shrank in his arms. “No matter where I am or what I do, it’s always you, Minx.
I know a nigga gotta make it back to you.
Max sent me to Miami because he knew that I could get the job done.
He trusted me, and I was effective. It was a good distraction.
Bitches were everywhere, but all I could think about was what you were doing.
Who you were with. If you were laughing or fucking happy.
When you happy, Minx, that shit pours out of you onto everybody around you. You contagious, shorty.”
