Chapter 16

Sixteen

When I woke up, I was lying on my side with Eros behind me.

His arm was draped over my waist, and his hardness was against my ass.

Dani was curled into my arms, her head by my chest and her fingertips pressing against the scar in the center of my left breast. It was like she was claiming me, just how Eros had hundreds of years ago.

Thankfully, after that absolute nightmare, Raphaela hadn’t reappeared in my dreams. I needed her to stay away.

I just couldn’t wrap my mind around her being in the dream with Dani and Eros.

It was all so sinful—nothing like she had shown me before.

And despite the fact that she had shown up when I wanted her away the most, a part of me enjoyed that she was willing to sin for me.

Dani smiled against me, moaning softly, and Eros shifted his hips into mine at the sound of her moan. God didn’t even know what they were dreaming about, but I did.

Dani stretched out, rolling onto her back. Her eyes fluttered open. “Morning.” She gazed over at Eros’s hand around my waist. After peeking over my shoulder at Eros, she smiled. “Morning to you too.”

Eros shifted beside me, but didn’t take his hand off of me. He grabbed hers and interlocked their fingers. He swore against my ear, too softly for Dani to hear. He pushed his hips into mine—harder.

Dani had either really talked some sense into this man or he hadn’t realized it was me yet.

Then, in that moment, he rolled to the other side of the bed and leaned over the edge, showing us the two scars on his back. They weren’t like mine. They were much worse.

Dani reached for him, but he stood and walked to the dresser, so instead, she curled into my chest some more. “Eros, come back.”

He turned and leaned across the bed to place a kiss on her lips. His hardness rubbed against me again, and I nearly sucked in a breath. “I have to prep for the party.”

I grabbed his horn firmly. “Your woman wants you to stay, Eros.”

He tensed for a moment, then removed my hand from him. “I have work to do.” He turned and grabbed a shirt. “Why don’t you stay, Lucifer?” His gaze shifted to Dani. “I’m sure Dani wouldn’t mind.”

Together, we watched Eros walk out of the room.

When he shut the door, Dani smiled at me. “Told you.”

“What did you say to him?”

She had that glint in her eye. “I didn’t say anything. I showed him.” She traced my scar with the tip of her finger, then lightly dug into it. “Tell me about her.”

“Who?”

“Raphaela.”

I tilted my head. “Is Dani jealous?”

She scoffed. “No, I just don’t want to see Eros hurt … or get hurt myself.”

I shook my head, thinking back to the days in Heaven that I had spent with him behind Raphaela’s back. “You don’t need to worry about that.” I stood and picked up my shirt from the side of the bed.

“Why was she in our dream?” she asked.

I chuckled. “Maybe she’s finally deciding to sin with me.

After all these years, I made that angel devilish.

” She arched a brow, pursed her lips, and rolled her eyes.

“You don’t believe that I can turn someone into a devil?

” I stepped closer to her and grabbed the sides of her face. “Let me show you.”

Dani rolled those hazel eyes and hopped off of the bed, daring me to do whatever I wanted. “I already told you that you won’t be able to do anything of sorts.”

I smirked and widened my eyes, taking in all of her and willing her to see me for who I was and who I wanted her to be, what I wanted her to see, how I wanted her to act. Devilish. More devilish than she already was.

For a split second, her features softened. Then Raphaela’s eyes stared back at me. I pushed Dani away.

Her eyes grew wide, and then her brows pulled together. “Lucifer, what’s wrong?”

She grabbed my hands, but I pulled back and stepped away.

“Why does she keep fucking with me?”

“She’s here?” Dani’s jaw tightened. “Here, in my kingdom?” Her hand tightened into a fist until her knuckles were white.

“I have to go,” I said. “Get her fucking out.”

She snarled. “Let me come with you. She should be punished.”

“No.”

She arched a brow. “No?” She shook her head. “She interrupted my dream last night.”

I took her hands in mine. “Let me handle this. She’s my problem. I will take care of her.”

She raised a brow and poked me in the chest. “Well, I expect you to be here tonight for the party.” Her words were more than what they were. She was planning something, and it didn’t even seem like Eros knew about it yet.

“I’d never miss a party in Lust.”
