Lucifer’s Revenge (31 Days of Trick or Treat: Biker & Mobster)
Chapter One
Lucius “Luc” King walked into his kitchen, and the second he saw the person sitting at his kitchen table, he both growled, and scowled.
“What are you doing here?” His voice came out so rough and gravelly, it sounded like his voice box had been put through a grinder.
He made a beeline for the coffee pot and sighed in relief when the carafe was full.
He didn’t even look at his guest until he had downed at least half the cup.
After refilling his mug, he went over to his table, shook his head at the mess, and sighed heavily as he sat in his seat at the head of the table.
“What’s all this shit?” he asked as he pointed to the items that looked like they came from a mortuary.
He studied his sister, Starr, with a nasty expression.
As much as he loved her, there was no way he was in the mood for her shit, let alone awake enough to listen to what she’ll probably prattle on about.
He glanced over at the coffee pot and sighed in relief when he saw there was still some of the liquid gold there.
Sometimes there wasn’t enough of the strong brew in the world to handle his sister’s constant energy.
He shook his head when she looked at him with a grin.
“Do you really want to know?” Starr looked at him with a smirk.
Luc looked at her, then the mess on his kitchen table, held up a hand, and went to refill his coffee mug, as he settled back down, he leaned back in his chair and nodded. “Hit me.”
“Really?” Starr asked in shock and lifted her hand, then quickly lowered it when he gave her the look with only one brow raised, like he dared her to try it.
She quickly backed down and looked at him with a grin.
“Before I explain this mess, I have a few comments to make.” She grinned at him and he only shook his head.
He knew his sister would get to the point when she was good and ready.
“What?”
“I love Mom and Dad. I really do.”
“So do I, but what do they have to do with the mess you are making on my kitchen table. Why didn’t you do it at your own place, or in the garage, or at Mom and Dad’s?” He continued to look at her with that raised brow, and it didn’t take long for her to sigh heavily.
“As I said, I love Mom and Dad, but I think they got our names wrong.”
“What are you talking about. My name is Lucius, and your name is Starr.”
“Correct, but do you know the meaning of our names?”
“Not really, what does it matter?”
“Because both of our names mean light, bringer of light, or bright light.” She rose from the table to refill both their coffee mugs, then settled back down after starting a fresh pot to brew.
She pointed to the leather vest draped over the back of the chair across from her.
“You’re the president of the local motorcycle club, what’s your club name? Also, what’s the name of the club?”
“Lucifer. And you know damn well the name of the club is Hell’s Coffin.”
“Exactly, and Lucifer is basically the prince of darkness. Hell’s Coffin? Dark, broody, just like your personality. If you’re honest with yourself, I wouldn’t say you have a dark soul, but you don’t bring a lot of light into people’s lives.”
“I beg to differ.” He smirked as he sipped his coffee. “I receive mad respect from the members of the club.”
“Putting the fear of God in them with just one look, isn’t having a light soul. It’s just intimidation.”
“Well, whatever, I get results.”
“Okay, I’ll give you that. My name also means light, bright light, like well, a star. Anyway, I don’t know if it is our personalities or what, but I also like the dark side.”
“What’s that mean?”
“What’s your favorite holiday?”
“Halloween.”
“Mine too. Anyway, keep what I just said in the back of your mind and I’ll answer your original question. You know I’m taking art classes for my degree, right?”
“Yes, aren’t you almost done?”
“I graduate in a couple of months, but over Christmas break, I met up with someone I had gone to school with when I first started college. He was two years ahead of me, so he’s already graduated.
” She looked at him and shook her head. “I’m getting to my point.
Anyway, he said that he couldn’t find a job right out of college and he signed up for a class.
It’s taking art in a whole different direction.
He introduced me to his teacher, and I started taking the classes in January.
Three months ago. This is totally separate from the college. ”
“Okay, is this extra schooling interfering with your regular college classes? Is it taking away from your core classes in order for you to graduate on time?”
“No, it’s all extra from what I’m doing now.
I really enjoy it, and I think I’ll lean toward this once I graduate.
This new course takes two years.” She held up her hand to stop what he might have said.
“It’s a lot of learning, and hands on. If I can make a career out of this, then I think it would be better than my art degree.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the art world, but this is different. It speaks to my soul.”
Luc sat there, sipped his coffee and waited for her to continue. She jumped to her feet, refilled their mugs, then disappeared, only to return three minutes later. She had her laptop with her. After she opened it, fired it up, she played with the keyboard, then looked at him.
“How much TV do you watch?”
“As little as possible. I’ve never been into sports, so I don’t have the sports channels, the news is too depressing to watch, so I avoid that unless absolutely necessary.
I usually only tune in for the weather, but I have that app on my phone.
I hate those sappy love movies Mom always watches.
” He rubbed the back of his neck. “I guess the only time I watch any TV is when there’s something about the paranormal on it.
You know, those shows where the cast goes to allegedly haunted places and sees if the stories are real.
They spend the night in these alleged haunted places to record any activity. ”
“Me too,” she laughed. “Good, now what I want to show you might not be a shock to you. It will explain what this mess is, and I want to talk to you about something afterward.” She fiddled with the keys again, placed the laptop in front of him, then told him to press play.
Instead of waiting for him to watch the clip, she rose and started making a quick breakfast for her brother.
She heard what was being said on the laptop, but didn’t dare to glance at her brother.
Luc sipped his coffee as he watched the clip, and within the first thirty seconds he was enthralled. He ended up watching it twice before a plate of food was placed before him. “Is this show on TV?”
“Yes, I’ll give you the channel later. What did you think?”
“Fascinating, who knew people could do something like that. Oh, yeah, I knew Hollywood would have something like this, but this seems like normal everyday people are making these transformations.”
“I know, the clip I showed you was my friend I told you about earlier, he did the transformation of that person.”
“Wow, and you’re going to learn how to do this?”
“Yes,” she said as she reached over and picked up a closed sketch pad. She handed it to him and nodded at his confused look. “Open it.”
Luc did and actually jerked when he saw his own face staring back at him. He looked at her in confusion.
“Keep flipping the pages.” She nodded and Luc did, by the fifth page, he was stunned. By the tenth, he knew his jaw had hit the table at the transformation. Before he could speak, she did. “The teacher gave us an assignment two weeks ago. We have until Halloween to pull it off.”
“Which is?”
“We were told to pick five people and transform them. I know this might be considered judgy on my part, but with your long incisors, your long black hair, that beard, and you being tall and lanky, I immediately thought of you as a vampire, but that wouldn’t work for you because you are Lucifer.
I’m here to ask you if I can use you as a model for my project.
” She waved her hand at the table. “This shitty mess are supplies for me to take molds of your teeth, your forehead, and your cheeks.” She watched him and shook her head at him.
“I can work around the beard. If you flip to the next page, that’s how I see this transformation in color.
” She watched his expression and couldn’t hold back her grin at his reaction when he dropped the book.
Thankfully, she’d cleaned up their plates and he didn’t drop the book into the mess.
Luc studied the drawing, the mess on his kitchen table, and his sister.
When she didn’t say anything, he flipped the next page and saw his friend, Bandit staring back at him.
The entire book was filled with the men in his small motorcycle club, Hell’s Coffin.
The very last two pages in the book were them as they were every day standing in front of the bar they owned and operated, and the last one had them all decked out in the makeup.
He didn’t know if it would be costumes, because it only dealt with the face, but he saw them all as a vampire, werewolf, gargoyle, stitched face, and skeleton.
“I would like to do those main five characters, but I can paint anyone else that would like to participate.”
“What about other students in your class? Or your friend?”
“What about them?”
“Would you trust them to work on the other club members? I’m not saying they would participate, but since you pointed out earlier that I have a dark soul, what if I invite you to the next church meeting, and you can present this to the guys?
Because this is messing with their face, I can’t tell them we are doing it and bang the gavel, they would have to agree and vote on having their faces altered.
” He looked at her in concern. “Only if you feel comfortable working with someone else. I don’t want anyone to take over from you.
In my opinion, you would be the lead makeup artist in this.
Also, as I looked at these drawings, I saw how we can transform the bar into a haunted house.
It’s March now, will seven months be enough time to do everything? ”
“It should be. However, the hardest thing to do in all of this is to get you guys to sit still long enough to transform you. I’m not talking minutes. Depending on who wants what done to them, they might not like the drawings of them, some of this could take hours to complete.”
“Oh, wow, I didn’t think of that.”
“Yes, and there’s only one other thing.”
“What’s that?”
“I have two more people in mind, however, I’m not being rude, but I don’t think they should be involved in the church meeting.
” She shook her head and held up her hand when he looked like he was going to argue with her.
“Think about it, Luc. Your church meeting is for you and the club members. What you discuss during these meetings are for you, and you alone. I know you won’t get me into the meeting right away.
This might be me thinking I’m more important than I am, but I know all these members.
Hell, I’ve grown up with most of them. They know me.
However, they don’t know the friends I will be asking.
Again, this is just my own opinion, but I feel if I have the approval of the club, then, and only then will I introduce my friends. ”
“I think I understand what you’re trying to say here,” Luc said with a nod. “You want to get into the church meeting, state your case, and if they agree, then, and only then, you’ll introduce your friends to us.”
“Correct, I won’t even ask them until I get the club’s approval. I don’t want to get their hopes up and have it fall through. And again, because I know you, and the club rules, I will not tell them about the church meeting. In my opinion, that is none of their business.”
“You’ll be okay if it takes a couple of weeks to get back to you with an answer.”
“Yes. I want all my ducks in a row first.”
“I’ll bring it up at tonight’s meeting.”
“Thanks, Luc, that’s all I can ask. Now, do you want me to explain what all this mess is?”
Luc smirked. “Sure.”
She flipped the pages in her sketch book and explained each step and coordinated the stuff on the table as she described how she would need to achieve the looks in the drawings.
By the time Starr left, she had molds of her brother’s teeth, forehead, and she took his measurements.
Not that she would need them, but she wanted to make sure she had covered all her bases in case a new idea struck her as she was making the facial enhancements for his transformation into Lucifer, King of the Underworld.
