Chapter 25 #2

“I don’t know if the police gave you a copy of this yet, but this is what happened when Lucius and the others found me after being kidnapped.” She moved the phone forward and watched as the two high powered lawyers watched the video four times before they looked up and it was Fred who asked,

“How?”

“Remember at Brenda’s trial where I said she was invited to be on Starr’s team?”

“Yes, but what does that have to do with anything?”

“That team was to do the makeup for me, Bandit, Wolf, and Vampire. Kelsey Warner and Matt Rider did the other characters. It was a class Professor Tiggs offered at the college. Nothing to do with any degree program, just something to offer the students for fun. Actually, it’s not just for students either, it’s for anyone who wants to learn about this stuff.

Their final grade was to come up with something for Halloween.

They had over seven months to plan. Starr came up with all of those designs, but because my makeup alone took roughly five hours to do, she only did four, while Kelsey and Matt did the others.

Brenda was supposed to be on that team, but because of her lies, and what she tried to pull, I told Starr, who told her professor, who in turn kicked Brenda off the team. ”

“Ah, that was the connection. Okay, so he drew a pentagram on Lilith’s stomach, then summoned Lucifer and you showed up dressed like him.”

“Yes, but, I don’t know if this is relevant or not, but my club name is Lucifer, because my real name is Lucius, the club members automatically started calling me Lucifer. It was Starr’s idea to do us up based on our club names.”

“Got it,” Fred said, and they watched the video one last time.

He pushed the phone back, and shook his head.

“This case is a nightmare. What I’m about to say stays in this room, but Wesley Quinn is a wack job.

After seeing the video that you just showed me, I’ll get with Paul to see if he has any more in evidence, but I believe seeing you appear at Lilith’s feet after he ‘summoned’ the devil, broke Wesley.

The doctors that treated him in the psych ward agree with me.

I know his lawyer is going to go for a mental plea.

This office agrees, but we’re going to push to get him declared insane and sent to a state mental hospital, but it is also a prison for the criminally insane. ”

“Okay,” Lilith said with a scowl that did Luc proud. “But what does all this have to do with Merril Wilson?”

Again, Fred scrubbed his face as he rose and went over to grab the pot of coffee to refill their mugs.

He sat back down and pointed to the stacks of files.

“We’ll have to go through everything, but without knowing where to look, I can’t lay my hand on the proper folder.

I’m not putting you off, I’m trying to understand it in my head. ”

“What Fred’s not saying is that Wesley Quinn, in one of his ramblings at the psych ward informed his doctor,” he paused and grabbed a pad of paper, flipped through the pages, and read what was written there.

“The Night Demon, Lilith, Adam’s first wife, swooped in, and spread her evil lies about my father, causing him to be sent to jail, based on her lies.

I had her in my grasp when Lucifer himself came and snatched her from me.

Mark my words, this Night Demon will pay for all the evil she’s done to me and my family. ”

“Wilson is his father? But the girls I saw in his home when I started my investigation didn’t have any children, and if one of them gave birth to Wesley, he would only be fifteen or sixteen, not in his thirties.”

“Yeah, like we said, we have to go through these files, but apparently what you saw, recorded, and went to the police about happened in several other towns before he arrived in yours. Wesley Quinn is a result from one of those towns, again, from the girls he kidnapped and started having sex with when they turned fourteen. Did you follow his trial?”

“No, after I gave the information to the police, and they did their investigation, and raided Wilson’s home, on the advice of the Chief of Police and my parents, I was to back away and stay out of it.

They didn’t want me to be a target. All I know is that I saw the sentencing on TV, and read it in the newspaper.

Wait, if he really is Wilson’s son, is that true, or is he one of the boys Wilson started kidnapping while he lived in our town. ”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Merril Wilson went after little girls, however, during the case of my investigation, he had been known to kidnap little boys for his friends to do ungodly things to. I’m not going to spell it out, we can all imagine.

So, my question, is Wesley Quinn really Merril Wilson’s biological son, or is he a kidnapped victim from years ago, and grew up thinking Wilson was his father.

After the raid, I don’t know what happened to the victims in the house, the girls, or the young boys. ”

“Shit,” Fred said as he looked at the stack of folders. He turned to Thomas. “Overtime for the junior lawyers?”

“Yes, but let’s hold off and get a DNA test first. We have Merril’s already on file. If it’s not in these pages, then it’s in the system. It wouldn’t be hard to get Quinn’s, however, I’m going to go by the book and request a court order to obtain it.”

“One question,” Luc said as he sipped his coffee. “I don’t mean to play devil’s advocate, but say for example that he is a kidnapped victim, could his lawyer try to say something about nurture vs nature and it’s all because of what happened to him? Try to get him a reduced sentence?”

“They could try, but I have five accredited psychiatrists willing to testify that he’s nuttier than a fruit cake, and needs to be locked up and monitored for his own safety, as well as the safety of the general public.”

“Got it.” They sat there for a few seconds before Lilith drew in a deep breath and asked quietly,

“What about Sally? I thought I might have been called in to testify against her.”

“That won’t be necessary, with all the documentation you sent over the years to your district office, they were able to testify that you did everything legally by the book.

We feel that she’s not as crazy as Wesley, but she’s out there.

The trial should be done next week, if you want to come in and watch the last couple of days, sit behind Thomas and I, because she’s taking the stand in her defense, maybe seeing you will trip her up or something. ”

“You’ll give me the dates and times? I can coordinate it with my district manager to attend. Luckily, I only work two blocks away.”

“We’ll let you know,” Fred said. “However, after the verdict comes down, and the judge reviews the case to rule on his sentencing, I want the two of you to give victim statements to see if the judge will be harsher on them once he hears how their actions have impacted you.”

“We’ll work on them.” Luc nodded and stood, knowing the meeting was over. Their last look at the two lawyers was them both reaching for a file from the stacks before them to begin reading.
